Yeah there were enough funny bits to make it watchable but some of the characters were annoying. The main character himself was awful, everyone loves him but for what reason? His dead wife was horrendously grating. The ridiculously nice prostitute was bizarre - as was the ridiculously nice intern at the office. Don't get me started on the annoying old bint on the bench. Even his nursing home love interest from the extras had a shocker. Hopefully none of these characters are recurring in this next season.

It reflects everything I think about Ricky Gervais.

It has some really poignant, perceptive reflection on the human spirit but behind lurks a really cruel spiteful side.

The therapist, the class leader, the amateur dramatic society character are all grotesques with few redeeming features and spout alarming thoughts.

I am not a prude but his constant use of the c word grates on me, even roping two great older actresses into this.

He does it to shock but it detracts from the programme.

    The dog is great.

  2. Having liberties stripped away and our ideas of normal torn up is very unsettling.

But if you think about why we are doing what we are doing, it's because of an appreciation of the importance of life.

Many are realising how much they take for granted and also how we spend time scurrying around doing menial tasks and so little time doing the things which bring joy and comfort.

Do something today which brings a sense of achievement, something which makes you smile and something for somebody else.

The latter is hugely important. If you can help someone else in any way you will start to feel better about yourself.

It's a long journey sometimes but life is precious and starts today and each new day.

It’s not meant to be the usual gang land drama, they’re not aiming for social realism,  it’s meant to be hyper stylised and OTT.

Yes I appreciate that. I guess I’m not comfortable watching supposed gangland violence that looks like it has been choreographed by MCHammer.

I’m an old fart and I know there’s a massive market for this type of thing. I note that its two directors come from a martial arts movie background so it was always going to be this stylised violence.

Not for me but each to their own.

If you like The Raid films or stuff from John Woo you’ll love it. It’s f-in insane. Unlike any Western TV show ever

I was with it until the pub brawl. Too daft for words. Sillier than Kingsman but not supposed to be funny. It lost any integrity for me as a gangland drama.

Shame as it has a great cast.

I'd be surprised if I never mentioned this in here or the other TV shows thread. Me and Eddie spoke of it often, probably with every new season.

    Absolutely riveting and gritty television.

Recommend to anyone who can read and watch at the same time, as it's subtitled.

So it's you lot's fault I have now watched all four series!

Great stuff and the music is mesmeric.

Have any of you managed to see the film l'immortale?

Apparently we need to watch that before series five.

Anyone see Have I got news for you, last night?

Normally my favourite show but had to switch off after 10 minutes. Just doesn’t work via zoom or whatever. Cringey.

Don't know where I’m going to get my fix of topical satire any more. Used to love The News Quiz on Radio 4 but can’t stand Nish Kumar presenting it.

    Yeah, I watched it too.

The fact that it’s largely scripted was even more obvious in that shaky format.

The Asian guy in the shop was the funniest bit.

    Gomorrah?

    Good innit?

Only 5 episodes in but I’m hooked.

A warning to all, be careful about drink driving as we are getting close to Christmas. Quite rightly Police are out checking on people. ?‍♂️

Last night I went out for a few drinks. Cocktails then wine. (Not a good idea)

However, knowing I was over the limit, I took the bus back home.

We passed a police checkpoint and I could see they were pulling over drivers giving them breath tests. They waved the bus past.

I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a surprise as I've never driven a bus before and I’m not even sure where I got it from.

    ? ? ? ?

  9. I gave a like because you have explained your many emotions so honestly.

Death has an amazing way of making us focus on what’s really important. The love you have for your family is evident and it will help you through.

None of us knows when our time will come. We can either wait for it or enjoy the ride.

My thoughts are with you and those around you.

Take time for your own healing amongst the good deeds you do to help others.

  10. Thing is, these guys are seriously fit, strong and pack a punch.

Skill means you can keep out of the opponent's way for a while but then there's the sudden need to take a big punch from a guy weighing about 17 stones who knows what he's doing.

Every fight against a 'bum' is dangerous because whilst outclassed, he vsn still knock you out.

I congratulate Joshua because he's British but he isn't a scrapper who can adjust to the deepest need to win and he will lose against mentally tougher opposition.
