Paul Warne has achieved everything David Clowes has wanted to date it seems.

Warne now embarks on his next challenge, which is clearly more demanding.

    My questions are:

    1) Will Clowes in the coming weeks show full support for the job Warne has done, and the job he now has to do, by renegotiating his contract giving him and his team a new 4 year term to work with?

    2) How would you personally feel about it if Warne did now sign a 4 year contract. My instinct is that Warne currently enjoys about 80/90% positivity on this forum. If you were Clowes, would you restart the clock now?

No new contract, he has to prove himself at this level....  Needs a top 10 finish for me, providing he's given some money to work with.

Get Adams signed up and build a team round him!

With the current situation at the club it should have been a natural reaction to blood some youngsters. Not given any a chance to show what they can do in the first team apart from Brown's 5 minutes here and there. They would get more patience from the crowd if given this chance.

We know that the current set up with Bird and Hourihane in midfield isnt really working but, if one was dropped and replaced by robinson who is more of a combative midfieder then it would appear that warne is addressing the situation.

Older journeymen with injury records aint the answer.

Agreed I would blood some youngsters, that said Warne must achieve top 3 maybe 4 to show enough improvement.  I think if we fail to make the POs, he's toast.  That may be the reason he is reluctant to blood youngsters...........

I remain struck by how Kirchner wasn't going to buy the stadium, so Clowes was going instead having to fork out the other £50million+. I'm glad the stadium deal, which had become such a complicated part of the whole financials with MM buying it off the club previously, ended up not being a stumbling block here.

So much unusual expense in these initial accounts, but it looks as though DC has done an amazing initial job of stabilizing the club, while keeping us competitive at the level we find ourselves. Forever grateful.

I flagged this and got slated by the Kirchner blind faithers.  I was even accused of potentially be the cause of anyone who may comit suicide.  It was obvious from the off something wasnt right, yet he duped the EFL and Quantuma.....  Thank god he didn't pull it off....

Doesn’t strike me as a player that wants to leave. He increasingly is putting his body on the line risking injury - if he was angling for a move away am sure he wouldn’t play that way. Seem to recall in the build up to one of the Lincoln goals he put his head in where it hurts  - outstanding player with a great attitude

Fingers crossed he signs a new contract!

Definitely, it's about the economics, if that's the only path that achieves promotion, as our income will increase by a minimum of around £6m with promotion.

However, if we feel that promotion will be achieved without the money raised from his sale, we may feel that Cashin will be more important to our potential championship campaign.

Exactly this, take the option on the year or better still offer him a new contract, keep him till the end of the season and sell him in the summer window if he wants to go.  He will be a Championship player then (Hopefully) and worth more than he is in League 1.  Try for a cheeky loan back for a year deal.  Let Brighton and Fester part take in a Dutch Auction for him!

He isn't available on a free. We have a years option. Even if he didn't, we would get a 7 figure compensation fee.

We agreed on £3.6m at the end of August.

Where is that reported?  I can't find it and hope you are right, if he does go it should include a free loan back till the end of the season for sure.

As we appear to have some wriggle room and may be netting £3m plus for Cashin, what positions do you think we need to recruit in, what kind of player?

£3m for a player who is available on a free in the summer?  I think we will be very lucky to see £1.5 - £2m.

The last thing I would want to do is invest in a club with Clowes still with controlling stake. Nobody would be that daft. Not so sure about a valuation of £50m either.

    100% on the money.

Club is worth £30m, Clowes was generous to save us, none of the other party's were offering more at the time he bought.

With regards to the sale of the club or additional investment its a matter for DC himself to consider....

Warne said, via BBC Sport Derby presenter Dominic Dietrich: “His agent reached out to me in early window, I didn’t want to sign him. That’s the honest truth, however, when he came in for Fozzy’s testimonial I really liked him. I’m really glad he’s joined the party.”

He said tge same about Waggy, but signed him anyway...

Why ask for a friend? Ask for yourself and then we can get your opinion on his signings.

Vickers - Not seen enough of but well when he's come in

Ward - Looked decent pre season/start of season. Injured since

Nyambe - Excellent value for money

    Wilson - Looks decent

Nelson - Slow start, looks solid now

Bradley - Poor start, not seen enough of since but looks error prone

Elder - Injured, not seen enough of

Waghorn - In and out. Ok for this level.

Washington - Not seen enough of but doesn't look like he will pull up any trees

John Jules - Injured, not seen enough of

    There's my assessment. Your turn

    It was humour....

I agree with most of what you say.

Wash and Bradley are woeful in my opinion.  I think you can expect errors at this level though.

The problem is the style of the football.  Stevie Mac would do something with his squad, deffo missing a decent striker, not sure why that was not addressed though, don't hit the onion bag, you don't win games, its simple...

I’m Warne Out (sounds like an AA meeting!)

I don’t believe David will sack him and his merry entourage whilst there is still an outside chance of the play offs.

David knows the autos are probably gone now. It would take a huge turnaround in performances and results.

The problem will come in January, if we still have a chance, would David trust him with any sort of transfer budget and would David veto selling of any our younger players such as bird, cashin. If not we could end up with a team full of aging journeymen playing Div 3 style football.

I want success for DCFC, but also want a team of players and coaches that I can believe in and have more passion about than I do right now.

He will sell Cashin, only 6 months left on his contract come Jan.  I suspect nowhere near the £4m that Brighton were offering, although Birmingham are now interested, that is if Wazza lasts to January...  So that could push the price up a bit.

Even a win just buys him time til the next game.

he is now in last chance saloon for me.

You could well be right, that decision though is DCs.

You should never hope your team lose, as pleased as I was on Tues with the win, I knew we would return to watching the dire crap he's been serving up.

Apart from the first 15 mins in the second half, that has to be one of the poorest performances under his stewardship yesterday.

Its time he showed some minerals, realise the players do not want him, he clearly struggles to motivate them.  Time he resigned and walked away with a modest pay off rather than 2 1/2 years of his contract.

Everybody knows he willingly saved the club, but are we supposed to just sit here and be miserable for its existence even though it was saved

most are voicing their opinion based on what’s best for DCFC. He saved it but doesn’t mean his decision making has been extremely poor

One poor decision, he's a rookie owner, the appointment of managers is the most difficult decision the owner makes, its the most critical one too!

How many slated the appointment at the time, your not going to get a top rate manager at this level, its most unlikely...

  14. I think everything considered, we should think how lucky we are to have a great owner, who paid about £15 - 20m over the odds for the club.  Had he of not done so we would of ended up a pheonix club possibly with Mike Ashley at the helm.

We also need to realise this is a very different business model to running a construction company.  Many owners just chase the dream, look where that nearly got us.

DC is running the club with his head, not his heart, in a sustainable fashion, we are still only 5 points off the play-offs with games in hand, which maybe why he's keeping faith in Warne 'for now'.

Does Warnes appointment look a poor decision, particularly with the length if the contract, yes it does, o many fans 15 months ago raised this?

DC is a rookie owner and he's not going to get every decision right, his first big one, he's got wrong, he will reevaluate and work away through, rather than throw endless 💰 at this.

Just a thought, but, DC may have set milestones and a get out clause in Warnes contract, such as if we are X amount off points off the play-offs at Xmas he gets sacked no pay off or lesser pay off.

We just don't know, so let keep faith in DC, who will ensure we have a club to support rather than gambling everything in the reckless way MM did!

If he won't sack Warne he should come out and tell the disgruntled fans why Warne is the person to get us back up the leagues!

Why does DC have to explain himself to you?  He runs DCFC professionally without the MM circus.  It appears for now he's decided to stick with Warne, he doesn't have to explain his rationale to you, I or any other fan!  Do you really think if he could not afford to sack Warne he would say it publicly as is being suggested?  Of course he wouldn't!

some say we can’t afford to sack him, only DC knows.

    Exactly 100% on the money!

    13 minutes ago, RoyMac5 said:

If DC can't afford to end Warne's contract it's no better than Morris paying over the odds for ordinary players.

I agree, but, we do not know he can't afford to, his contract could still be paid over the length of it, not necessarily all in one go too!

  16. 10 hours ago, Topram said:

Clowse won’t sack Warne for 2 reasons,

1 Big big cost to sack him and his team

    2. This was his big first call and letting LR go to replace him with PW looks a disastrous decision and he as a businessman will be to proud to sack him.

If you make a bad business decision, you reverse it.  If he sacks Warne he can pay it over the length of the contract, effectively placing him on Gardening Leave....

  17. I'm joining the Warne out brigade, this simply isnt good enough.  That team is more than good enough to be in the top 2 of a weak league this year.  If DC writes the rest of the season off by keeping Warne, he could well be facing a much stronger league next year.

Paul thanks for your efforts, but, as has been noted by so many, the club is going backwards, time to fall on your sword.

Lets get Warnock in before he goes to that shitehole Milwall..

No one mentioned a statue. Are you so lacking in any sort of argument that you have to resort to ridiculous exaggerations of any defence of someone who steered us through a rough time in our history whilst improving year on year.

Interesting that at a relatively big club in league 2 he’s been allowed the time he’s been given. Almost as if the chairman there thinks he’s doing a good job - 4 years with anyone in this day and age is nothing to be sniffed at. Managers do not get time.

4 years and still in League 2, there's no defence, there doesn't even need to be an argument.  If his name wasn't Clough, you would not be defending his p*ss poor management....
