I reckon he is shaping up to be a top quality LWB , for his home town club who are the up .
If he is insistant that he doesnt want to play there , time to move on .
There are lots of examples of players who find that their best positions are not the ones they originally played .
Of course all the contract negotiations may have nothing to do with the above .

How is "throwing money at it" the same as "running the club responsibly"?
And does anyone think that David Clowes "lacks ambition"? He's probably just a bit more patient in pursuit of it than some disastrous owners and some fans are.

Another mystifying decision by a Championship owner. Accept that Hull did invest in the squad/brought in some big money loans but its hardly like they were blowing the rest of the division out of the water. Rosenior was nominated for Championship manager of the season & they finished a mere 3 points outside the playoffs - a damn sight better than the position he found them in. What makes it worse is that their owner gave Rosenior a new 3 year contract at Christmas - an expensive decision to end early & one I presume has been pre-empted by a bigger name showing interest in the job.
Derby might not be able to compete with some teams in this division financially but we do have the precious commodity of stability & common sense behind the scenes. Some of the decision making at clubs like Birmingham, Watford, Sunderland & now Hull smack of the incoherent kneejerk reactions so beloved of our previous owner & inevitably end in poorer results & decline.
I wish Liam well, a good coach & a good man. He needs to find a Championship gig at a club prepared to take a long term view. I suspect Hull will finish significantly below 7th next term.

It's interesting to see the professionalism and know-how we're giving up. I get what you say about Korey. Smith was a model pro in terms of knowing and trying to do his job, whether it was at right back or in the middle. I think he'd be an excellent acquisition for someone in League One, or at the foot of the Championship.
Hourihane was the guy who would get in the ref's face and fight our corner and win freekicks the way other teams would do against us. And he was so brave fronting up to the fans that day, in a really toxic environment, possibly saving Warne his job. A leader, even when he struggled to make the impact we needed on the pitch.
And I've frequently said Wildsmith's ability to take the sting out of the game served us very well. Part of the modern goalkeeper's toolkit. Whoever comes in needs to have this as well perhaps a little more subtly.
But expertise and game management is something we will need the replacement's we're bringing in to possess.

BTW, Corey Smith has reposted every good wish from fans on there. What a gent!
Think I'll miss him the most from those released so far.

Apologies if I’m double posting but yeah, I agree. I’ve just mentioned in my previous post that he played there last season against Mansfield under Rosenior and looked Thorne/Bielik like.
I wonder if he’s not energetic enough for Warne though.

Reuben is progressing really well and is now working on being able to stand and put his weight through that right leg before he moves on to trying to walk. A little bit more movement in the right elbow but nothing yet in the wrist and hand…..

Do I think, no, my point was more around other expectations going from survival in this league to mid table before we have even made a signing and how when we make a couple, it will probably goto top 6 😏
I wouldn't be surprised to see us pushing for a top 6 place, I also would be surprised if it was bottom 6 either. I think PW plays winning football over pretty football and in this league, anything is possible, however I'd consider survival next season a success, anything else, a bonus.

I dont necessarily think Warne will but I've long argued that Rooney would make a good DCM. Clearly comfortable on the ball, decent range of passing, little one paced but good in air & happy to move forward with the ball in central areas.
The only other position I'd consider him would be RCB but think we've got better even in current squad.

Though we are now out of the post administration need for approved budgets, in terms of budgets in comparison to other teams we are now actually more restricted post promotion.
When you look at the parachute clubs and clubs with super rich owners throwing money at the situation. That's not a criticism of Clowes btw just an assessment of where we are.
It is likely that we will have gone from a top 2 budget in league one to a mid table budget in the Championship.
Thankfully most supporters understand and appreciate this as seem to be indicated by our realistic expectations thread.
The next 2 seasons will be a real test of PW and our recruitment team.

Apart from the reference to Collins and Hourihane I would echo all of this. I tend to agree with @RoyMac5, Collins & Hourihane won’t make or break our season - probably not starters but good players to have around (albeit I suspect both maybe released).

The biggest factor for me is to have a feel good factor around Pride Park to keep fans with the players and management team.  Opinion very much split last season - flirting with the bottom 6 won’t help this so minimum mid table is needed with a style of play that fits a progressive Championship club.

    Exactly this.
Generate an atmosphere at Pride Park, have some good results and performances that fans can get behind. You want to see us sell more season tickets for 25/26 than for 24/25.
I think avoiding relegation is too low of a bar to set, we need be comfortably mid table and look more like we’re pushing ourselves into the top six than keeping our heads above water.
Play better football and win over the fanbase.
Warne has such a task on his hand to get results and improve the product on the pitch. Last season was my first in about a decade without a season ticket, i sat in the east stand for the final game and shocked how many people around me were moaning about the manager/football/players *as we got promoted in front of their very eyes*
If he’s going to stay the long course here, which everyone should be hoping for as you always want your current manager to be the one who’s capable of taking you to the Premier League, he needs to not only step up to the championship but show signs that we can play good football in the Championship.
Anyone talking about pushing for promotion needs a reality check, we’re probably going to have to sign over 10 players to compete in the Championship next season and if we don’t it will be because we have the likes of Collins and Hourihane still at the club.
A lot of change coming, you can’t expect a promotion push immediately, Ipswich are a huge, huge outlier who have one of the best young managers in the country and spent approx 10 million in League One before they came up.

Not really ITK, but I do know goalkeeping stuff, told Iverson is likely and that Vickers is off.
How true, I do not know, but I would trust my source 90%
On a personal scouting level that sounds good, maybe Jack Thompson will be 2nd choice, although that is my guess nothing true.

Derby County are one of the few clubs outside the prem elite that neutrals have any interest in no matter how we are doing. The reason why we end up on Sky a lot is because we can drive up viewing figures, Leeds being the only other side I can think of that people will always watch if on TV. Not many sides fall into this bracket, maybe the Sheffield teams and maybe Portsmouth could do but aside that I don’t think there’s many clubs that neutrals really maintain an interest over.
I have no idea why aside that the atmosphere in PP and ER comes across well on TV which helps maintain interest.

Stay out of trouble without any real threat of relegation and a suggestion that we might push on the year after. There is so much parachute money floating around that I think the finances are going to dictate a slow and steady approach and we'll have to be patient.
