Shame Rooney is injured, he'd be a good shout to replace. We can't roll with Bradley, he's horrendous. Can't see us getting £5m for him when in League One, and if we have a year's option anyway, there's no value in getting rid in January when we're still in with half a shout.

Warne would use the academy if he believed there were any academy players that were up to the grade. How can you berate him for that?
Who would you have signed...all young up and coming players? HOW? From money that has fallen out of the sky?
You say if we went up, we'd need a squad revamp. WOW. Really?! What a revelation that is!!
I'll answer the last part for you. Warne is trying to achieve promotion. He's not far...just outside of the top 6 with plenty of goals scored and not that many conceded compared to others. Granted, the football isn't great, but that's what you get when you are forced to bring in journeymen pros as that really is the market we have to operate in.
If this academy is so damn good, maybe you can give us all a breakdown of who and why is deserving of a place in the first team. I'm all ears.

That's not what we had last season, but it is where we were. We've not gone forwards at all. 

Our academy has produced virtually nothing of note in the last 20 years.
Why are you so keen for our manager to suddenly start using it?
If players are good enough, they will get a look in.
 

Absolutely sick of the constant sniping against the club , management and players , this was never going to be an easy fix and I believe any manager we hired would have had struggles , all this second guessing of finances, tactics, players contracts , potential signings , what players think , the academy are all being used as a stick to beat the manager with , yes Warne has made mistakes, which manager hasn’t but he’s our manager whether you like it or not , try cutting him a bit of slack and see what he can achieve and if he fails I will gladly hold my hands up and say you told us so

Its pretty pointless trying to offer any sort of defence anymore because the goalposts are just constantly moving.

Its clear that whatever happens from here on in, that some posters have made their mind up on Warne and will use absolutely anything to criticise him.

I would say that sitting comfortably with a game in hand in the top half of the table is proof that the manager is actually doing something right, especially when you consider he has had to put together an entire new squad on a budget (and I know the claims that our budget is greater than others although I don't necessarily believe that when other clubs are shelling out big fees). Granted out football is not easy on the eye, but aside from the team being a few points/places higher, what more could he do?
It's all well and good identifying a player that can improve the squad. I dare say that same player will have a host of bigger and better clubs knocking on his door. Warne has put together a squad with a match of players he had identified, the majority of whom (reading between the lines of his interviews), were not first choice. I'm not going to berate the manager for bringing in the likes of Washington, Nelson and the like as they were in all likelihood, the scraps with which he was left with.
Derby County may seem like a big draw for us fans, but for the players, they will look at our recent turbulent history and it wouldn't be difficult to find more appealing clubs, even if those clubs are not maybe the same size and stature of DCFC.
Play-offs would represent a successful season IMO all things considered. That will clearly not be good enough for some fans, particularly those who are of the opinion that we have some divine right to be playing at a higher level due to our size, but I think it will be OK in the eyes of the decision maker/s.

Derby played well today and it would have been unjust had they not got the draw.
