Must admit, I was surprised to see that at HT, we'd had 1 shot on target... yet were leading 2-0!  The Beeb had it down as an OG.  I had a decent view from the NE corner, and there was no hint of an OG live, and nobody around me hinted at it.  I've yet to see any highlights though.

    🤷‍♂️

    EDIT:

Seen the highlights now... looks 100% Wilson to me, and his immediate reaction appears to back it up?

More interestingly, what the heck was Cashin doing as the corner came over his head... it was hardly a subtle attempt at a "Hand of God"!  I hope his handball was miss was deliberate! 🤣

I think the beeb was, and still is, unsure. Go to their results page and click on the game and you'll see the opener down as an OG. Scroll down into the match report and it says Wilson scored it.

I said pre match that matching the midweek 1st half performance but with improved shooting would see us win. We didn't match it, we bettered it and kept it up all game. 3 goals, all from set pieces, and we won at a canter in the end. The O's managed 6 shots, none of them on target meaning JW had a quiet afternoon. Great performance from the crowd too. Here's to those lucky enough to have a ticket for Cambridge make lots of noise as usual. See y'all for the Carlisle game.

It's back in our own hands. Keep calm. Keep focused. We'll be rate.

179 euro from Amsterdam to Luton on saturday morning, returning sunday morning. Stop overnight at Luton airport and trains up to Derby 🐏

Plus ANOTHER £88 for the train plus 60 to 70 for a hotel at best. Add in beer, food and a match ticket and that's €450. I'd usually expect to pay that flying into Brum Friday morning, 2 nights hotel, Train, match ticket, food and beer, back Sunday afternoon, not for a 24 hour rush...

  3. @Mucker1884  I was at that Bournemouth game. I vividly remember a very nice looking WPC who was treated to a chorus of "GYTOFTL". She laughed. Today, a similar serenading would see half a dozen arrested. Another memory was, on the way back to the car, we came across a Bournemouth fan, spark out, checked he was alive, got someone in a house across the road to phone an ambulance. Lad was OK, fortunately.

GOT IN A STATE ?  we have  put Bolton and Peterborough an advantage , its in they hands to get second, we are now hoping for them to slip..... allowing we don't slip up again which is possible

the players and manager new yesterday what was needed, we need shots ON TARGET and a simple tap in to an open goal we could be here with different STATES

we could have f***** it up last night  but the last game of season with automatic promotion on a tight rope........  any thing can happen

Bolton's to throw away yes, Posh, however, have to gain as many or more points than us and overcome 5 goal GD deficit. We match them for goals and our relation to them is in our hands.

Pathak could find himself in trouble for that. Accusing PW and the players of taking a bribe. Does he really think that players would miss out on the chance to get a promotion on their CV? Success would be worth much more in the long run than a bribe ...

    Terrible result last night.

Leaves Bolton with the advantage for 2nd now IMO

It's all theoretical though, isn't it? Their "advantage" includes beating both Pompey and Posh. As Wycombe showed last night, sides with "nothing to play for" other than pride can surprise you. That game had a flow to it. Little to none of the stop/start lack of tempo our previous, and only, 5 games against them had.

No "easy" games going forward for Posh, Trotters or us. It's going to be hard going for all 3 clubs.

  8. The game. Ref let a lot go from both sides and that meant it was the most free flowing of our 6 meetings with the Chairboys. Very little of the stop/start game of the previous 5 meetings. Despite the result, the neutral in me liked the game a lot more than the fan or the coach.

Decent moves from both sides, very few of which ended in real chances. NML put 2 over and CBT tripped over his laces, or something similar, a yard out with the keeper nowhere to be seen. They had 1 blazed over and forced a very good save from Wildsmith late on. We will be disappointed at not making more of our superior 1st half. They will feel the same about the 2nd half. There were more occasions where either side should have done better with a shot. Kone twice and then Washington who should have hit the ball first time instead of taking a touch...

All in all, a draw was the right result. We no longer have things in our hands but neither Posh nor the Trotters will win all of their remaining games as they play each other on the last day and Trotters play Pompey this weekend. 2nd spot is still wide open and will not, IMO, be decided until the last day. Still all to play for and, surely, we'll play better in the final third in the last 3 games, won't we?

I originally predicted that we would get 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, and 3 points from the last 6 games - 12 in all, bringing us up to 90 at the end.

We are currently ahead of that because we have 4 points from 2 games not 2.

I also predicted that Bolton would get 1, 3, 3, 1, 3, 1 and 3 points from their last 7 games - 15 in all, bringing them up to 89 points at the end, plus we should still have a superior GD.

They are exactly as predicted so far.

It is possible that they might overtake us at some point briefly, but I still think that we will secure 2nd place in the end.

If Pompey beat them and we beat Orient then it's difficult to see how they would haul themselves past us with 3 games to go.

After Orient there's just 2 games to go...  for us. 3 for Bolton. their extra one is Tuesday 16th against Shrews at the Toughsheet. Here's hoping they have "Toughsheet" 😉

A nothing comment that could be made about each and every team we play. I actually watched the game and saw nothing to fear, bar their threat from set pieces. Doesn't mean they can't beat us, but I'd happily lay your bet if you fancy them as much as you seem to.

Not so much fancying them, just recognising their particular brand of "football" is not one we tend to do well against. Physical, stealing 15+ yards at throws, Taking an age to take dead ball situations as long as it's still 0-0, falling over as if poleaxed if you look at them too hard, destroying any flow to the game etc.
