Photo: OFC via Phototek Less than a year since his professional ambitions were almost crushed through a serious injury, Adams now has the opportunity to kick start his career and establish himself at the second–tier club. The 18-year-old defender had travelled to England for trials at Derby last year but, before he had the chance to stake much of a claim, was cut down by a cruciate ligament injury. He remained in the United Kingdom to receive treatment before returning home to begin rehabilitation. Although he was unable to fully showcase his talents during the trial period, he impressed club officials enough to see the Rams offer him a further chance in the future. The club arranged for Adams to begin his recuperation with Andy Williams, a highly-respected knee specialist in London. With Williams’ expertise and his own resolve, the Melbourne-born Kiwi has fought his way back to fitness and will now look to take advantage of the opportunity Derby have offered him. Adams, who took part in the first half of Waitakere United’s title-winning ASB Premiership campaign last season, will aim for an extension at the conclusion of his 12-month deal. His immediate goal will be to break into the first team at Derby, who are managed by ex-England international and Liverpool midfielder Nigel Clough. The East Midlands-based club, who last played at the highest level of English football in 2008, are regarded as one of the biggest clubs outside the Premier League and have won the top flight on two occasions. Adams lead the Young All Whites to a round of 16 finish at the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year in Mexico.

Adams, 18, suffered a blow last year when seriously injuring a knee while on trial at Derby but impressed club officials enough to get another chance. Love the way they picked the 'biggest' team he played for..

Albert
I've heard the odd good word about him from a Kiwi friend of mine, good to hear. Here is his page from the [url=http://www.waitakereunited.co.nz/football_profile_adams_2011.html]Waitakere United page. Good luck to the lad. sage
This appears to be another example of Derby's long term approach to the game and our altruistic approach to players who receive serious injuries. It seems if NC feels they have the right character, NC will go the extra yard.

sage
If they weren't on first team duty, our (pure) u21 would be Morch Gjokal Adams O'Brien Freeman Hughes Hendrick Hoganson Bennett Thomas Jacobs add Lelan and Ball on loan and the future looks promising
Dimmu
Looking back, Keogh deal doesn't make sense. Ain't his knees alright? Maybe NC knows something we don't... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But hopefully kid does alright and knee allows him to play. Albert
Luke was at the under 21 game today. Not sure if he was a sub however joined in with the warm up. The match report suggests that he didn't play today, nor was he on the bench. Has the transfer fully gone through, he is from New Zealand, maybe the deal is done but they're waiting on other factors.
