Cisse
Should get at least 1.6 million so we have something to spend.
Guest
If Shackell goes for anything less than silly money then it shows the ambition and the realistic chance of us getting out of this division are minimal and shall not happen in the near future. nfb
If Shackell goes for anything less than silly money then it shows the ambition and the realistic chance of us getting out of this division are minimal and shall not happen in the near future. Took your time to cotton on to our 'lack of ambition' board, but in fact looking at the template, Americans do run things ( baseball, football clubs etc) to make money, they wont be investing in any significant way now, just trying to get a return without ruining the club, and therefore their investment........ Next season will be similar to this, in so much as we will struggle here and there, win a few, end up lower mid table, and attendances will drop further because of mediocre football....... I did think i had a clue about what the board were doing, with Glick, FFP etc, but watching Glick go,a demand for the budget to be reduced, and possibily selling our 'Captain' for the 2012/13 season, i'm not so sure i do, as with our attendances and FFP, i thought the board/club would progress, as others had to trim their staff/wages etc, but with the noises coming out of PP ATM, i fear the worst..... adamD
Derby County boss Nigel Clough won't rule out Jason Shackell transfer http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Derby-County-boss-Nigel-Clough-won-t-rule-Jason/story-16337668-detail/story.html NIGEL Clough says he does not want to lose Jason Shackell – but is still not ruling out the possibility of selling the in-demand defender to help his summer transfer plans. Derby County have rejected two £1m-plus bids for the centre-back, believed to be from Championship rivals Burnley, and there has also been interest from other clubs. Shackell was ever-present for Derby in his first season at Pride Park and captained the side in the absence of injured skipper Shaun Barker. However, Clough may have to cash in on one of his most prized assets in order to bring in theplayers he wants. "We don't want to lose Jason but if we got significant funds and it enabled us to buy a couple of players and replace him, without losing too much strength in that area, then that's what we'll look to do," said the manager. "We're not making Jason available for transfer but if something comes in, we will look at it. "We're in a position where we don't have to sell anybody. We keep emphasising that. "However, if it can help strengthen the team and the squad, that's the way we will do it." Clough admitted Shackell would need to be replaced immediately if he did leave but added: "We have two or three players in mind that wouldn't cost as much as Jason and, we think, wouldn't significantly weaken us in that position. "I think we have to be sensible about it and if someone does go, then we're OK – we are covered with players coming up from the Academy or purchases." Clough is keen to bring in right-sided midfielder Michael Jacobs from Northampton Town and is also in the market for a left-back to provide cover for Gareth Roberts, as well as a striker. The Rams are willing to listen to offers for Sheffield Wednesday target Chris Maguire, James Bailey, Miles Addison and Lee Croft, while joint top scorer in 2011-12, Steve Davies, has been made available for transfer after turning down the offer of a new contract. Clough added: "How do we move forward and get those extra 10 points to get us in the top six? "That is what we're working on and even if we do lose Steven Davies and maybe Jason, we've got to have two, three or four players lined up who are at least as good to improve us. That's all we can do. "We're also hoping for an improvement from the existing squad, particularly the youngsters."

PrivateDerby
Our main positive last season was that we were solid at the back, we could see games through and not let in last minute winners. Shackell was the main reason for that and it's back to square one without him. Let's show some loyalty to him, not flog him off to the highest bidder for him to snap our young lads when we play against him.

DcFc Dyycheee
One of the Cardiff city boards saying they are interested with a 1m bid, which should get him??? They also reckon Burnley bid 800k. True or not,I don't know The Burnley bid isn't true, because we turned down 1m+ not 800k.
randombc
Someones telling lies. I'd guess to 1m+ is correct, I can't see why we'd sell him for a similar to what we paid (£800,000) after the seasons he's just had. We should at LEAST double our money
