-JW-
i reckon we're after 2 million, i honestly didn't think we'd sell him but reading that article i'm not sure now.
DcFc Dyycheee
I'd be over the moon if we dont sell him, such an important player in the team.
Gary Teale
Well I think whatever the bid was sounds closer to the price we have out on him. It worries me they arent saying he isn't for sale unless it's silly money. We all know it's just all a game. The statement put out seems to say raise the bid and he is yours
samtheram83
yeah its a shame that our board are appearing a little soft on this one but u never know what shack might have said to them or clough when he signed. i don't like getting into speculation so i wont. for me if they think they might sell him i would at least come out and say "silly money" or "3m and he's all yours" as it stands i'd be pretty disappointed to lose him. he is essentially going to be our captain for next year and is our best defender so no fan wants to lose that! any suggestions for a replacement? seems strange that when he signed all we heard was we wanted shack and barks as the 2 CBs and build from there and a year on we could start with neither! the one positive is just how many players at derby seem to be wanted by other clubs. worrying as it is! i was well positive at the end of the season, now i'm cacking it that we'll be back to square one nearly but with money in the bank. randombc
I'd guess Derby are holding out for about £2 million, I'm sure Clough has replacements lined up, he knows the football league inside out, players, what's wages there on etc, so to say there isn't a replacement lined up would be daft, the only question is, is he as good as Shackell? I'd never heard of Shackell when he was at Barnsley, and he never stood out to me when Barnsley played at PP, not as much as Barker did when he was at Blackpool. So I'm sure there's a player in the CCC/league 1 that Clough knows about who he could get for about £1 million and then use the other £1 million on Jacobs and put the rest towards a striker
Guest
I'd take 800k cash with Charlie Austin coming our way as part of the deal. The 800k could pay for Jacobs and mattocks wages! Mattock has gone to sheffield wednesday
McRamFan
The Clarets were beaten to the Oakwell captain’s signature by Derby County in the end, and he went on to be an ever present for the Rams. So either we offered more money on fee and wages, or if it was the same deal by both clubs he chose to come here. I am sure that Burnley are in talks with other CB's and sometimes this is a smoke screen to hide the real target. As for Shackell, he moved upwards coming here, going to Burnley would be at best a sideways move.

vonwright
Two million to replace plus another million to make it worthwhile. Never going to happen so why not just say so? The ambiguous and unsettling stuff from the club will only encourage more derisory bids

Ramekin
if they sell him, it will sum up what the club has become. Why? If the money we get is enough for Clough to replace him with 2 players equally as good we will have taken another step forward. What's wrong with that? BrudeRAM
I think Shackell's a great player and BUT I don't know how much has been apparently offered but if it's near 2m we can't really say no IMO
Guest
we cannot sell shackell at this point in time. Unless we can gurantee we have at least one possibly two center backs in place to buy then I wouldn't sell him for 5 million. If we sell him without a replacement lined up then it is suicide, our squad is in a fragile position at the moment so we need to be careful with who we sell.
