Ghost of Clough
Reading website: free transfer Derby website: undisclosed Does this mean that there was no initial fee with add-ons/sell on fee, or is someone telling a few porkies?
ramesses
I don't think his footballing abilities have had much to do with this move, now matter how good a player you are or how good your manager is, if you can't follow instructions and do what the boss tells you then how are the rest of the team meant to play around you when they don't know what your doing? It causes chaos. I don’t think his footballing abilities have had much to do with this thread either. Opinion seems to be (mostly) split along the usual lines. Those who understand the manager’s decision to let TC go are those who generally rate the manager. Those criticising the manager's decision to let him go are those who generally don’t rate the manager.
sage
Reading rate Cywka so highly, they have given him a 5 month contract.
Asanovic
Seeing as Cywka had a modicum of skill and flair it isn't too difficult to see why he didn't fit into Clough's plans Like Shackell, Bailey, Hendrick, Brayford and Ward you mean? Sensible post.
Asanovic
The bottom line is, at his best he's better than players who've featured more than him this season. It's a managers job to get the best out of their players, Nigel failed to do this. How'd you work that out? I'd argue we've probably had the best out of him. So Nigel probably has done his job. Subman
Reading website: free transfer Derby website: undisclosed Does this mean that there was no initial fee with add-ons/sell on fee, or is someone telling a few porkies? I think we will get some money plus a possible sell on % if he stays with Reading past this 5 month deal.
jimmyp
Do you reckon he will even get a start in their first team or is he just cheap cover? If reading managed to get promoted I think he will get another free transfer in the summer without even being played unless they have major injuries. Fredbear73
With cywka i was always worried that there would be no end product - then there was that game where he scored a real cracker (infact did he get two that day?) and i thought he'd kick in. NC seems to think he won't, so best for him to move on. There's little point in having player at the club that the management don't rate - that's just wasting everyone's time. Saw him score a couple of crackers in the reserves against Florist but always struck me as a player who flatters to decieve in that loads of flash and no bang as an end product often enough
Ramarena
Will be typical if he comes back to haunt us!!! With around 8 players leaving in the past month, I hope some readies will be available for a couple of signings. Bywater, Leacock and Pearson must have been on Premier style wages as their contracts were renegotiated whilst we were in the top flight :-) That's the common misconception regarding Bywater, Pearson and Leacock however in reality. Leacock's contract was extended by Jewell in Oct 08 [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/7677657.stm]http://news.bbc.co.u...nty/7677657.stm Bywaters contract was extended by Nigel Clough in Feb 09 [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/7885203.stm]http://news.bbc.co.u...nty/7885203.stm Pearsons contract was extended by Nigel Clough in 2010 [url=http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Derby-County-talks-Pearson-new-deal/story-11565046-detail/story.html]http://www.thisisder...tail/story.html Back on topic regarding Cwyka it's interesting that Derby's website calls the deal undisclosed whereas Reading's website says it's a free transfer. LazloW
What I don't really get is that some people seem to think we've let the next Messi leave! A I liked cywka but am happy (and mature enough) to accept that sometimes players who I like leave without resorting to childish rants about the manager and a team that have gone unbeaten for 6 games. Am getting so fed up with a lot of dcfc fans at the moment. Unrealistic, nasty and negative. Unrealistic is natural for a footy fan and negative us your perogative but nasty is unnecessary and brings the whole place down. It's not all good but equally it's been worse. . nookiebear
did anyone see on the bbc video with savage at moorfarm? the thing written in big letters on the wall? "if you quit now during these workouts you'll quit in the middle of a season, during a game once you learn to quit it becomes a habit we dont want anyone here who'll quit we want 100% out of every individual and if you dont want to give it...get out" maybe cywka or anybody who doesnt make the grade just didnt want to give it?? BrudeRAM
Cywka is a quality player...but he's on decent wages so Clough's got rid of him, the only reason though was because last season when Cywka lost us the game in the 90th minute against portsmouth and clough has held a grudge ever since. RotherhamRam
Bris, you never replied. Was it Pedroza you sounded out about coming to Derby? If so, what did he say? Oh come on Sageisback. Surely you did not expect Bris to go and break client confidentiality and let you into his inner circle of football clients. He has you should know is the oracle for Derby and world football and at 23 has forgotten more about football especially Derby than the ones who have been supporting for over 50yrs (which is not me by the way). He only states facts don't you know.
WilkoRam
The guy wasn't that good but I can understand people being upset by this. At present we have a solid team. Nothing fancy, nothing exciting. They can pass the ball about in midfield but there's no spark. Cywka wasn't the most creative player around but he was probably the best we had (better than Doyle, B. Davies in my opinion). Ward is good but that's due to his pace. I still don't see the player to pick out a killer pass, to hit one from the edge of the box, that sort of thing. I hope Nigel gets one, even if on loan, by the end of Jan or in the summer. People have said Cywka had no end product, Jesus Robinson can hardly control the ball, when he first started the ball would fly off him in a random direction and if he did manage to control it he would then misplace a pass. It's funny that those Nigel rants about players to the media haven't happened this season (I don't think). Has Nigel learnt something too from this? Jamie Ward has made several through balls to set up a one on one (two at Peterboro alone), and wonder strikes from Steve Davies have won us at least two games this season. I'm just disappointed that we concede so many goals.
