Pedant alert, if you did it you are guilty. It’s presumed innocent until proven guilty as was pointed out to me by Judge John Hopkins when I served on Jury duty.? Why would they be out on bail if they've not been charged? RadioactiveWaste

Looks like there is such a thing as "Pre-Charge Bail" Quote Since 2017 when the Policing and Crime Act 2017 came into force, the police can only release you on pre-charge bail for a maximum of 28 days. https://www.stuartmillersolicitors.co.uk/what-is-on-bail-but-not-charged/#:~:text=Breaking pre-charge bail conditions, and brought before the court. You're given bail as there will be more investigations into the alleged incident, A case will be submitted(if they have certain information)to the CPS, It will be up to the CPS to see if there's enough information to proceed/get a conviction to the Court system. My guess is there'll be no case for the simple reason Police man hours, The severity of the case, Witnesses or the lack of, Unfortunately in todays world an attack like this is a common occurrence, The fact the incident was against a female may just may push this along.
