Why have we been getting worse in recent weeks?

Lack of movement and bravery. Bielik was the only player brave enough to make himself an option or make a ‘risky’ pass. Everyone is so safe and plays the ball backwards or sideways because the team is still so shot of confidence. Nobody wants the ball because everyone is so scared of being pressed and losing it.

Possession football isn’t working for many teams across the country at the moment, because the fans aren’t there on the player’s backs to motivate them to move or try and make something happen. Look at Liverpool, for instance. You could argue injuries have affected them, but like them we just look so defeated lately, like we’ve accepted defeat by the time the opposition have scored, and no one is willing to even try and make a chance.

Not sure why we’ve stopped going direct. Looking back at highlights from the Birmingham game, majority of our chances come through Bielik winning the second ball in the opposition’s half after a long goal kick. No one is winning the second balls at the moment and if we do we just look to play it back to our centre backs. I still think there’s a great player in Bird, he’s tidy in possession but he’s so shot of confidence that he prefers to just hide behind the opposition, because that way at least he’s not doing anything wrong. Perhaps he’s scared of losing the ball because of how many times he got pressed and lost it earlier this season?

Currently our players are working in conjunction to create as little as possible. Even the players in our team which have even an an ounce of creativity in their play are given no option through the pathetic movement off the ball from our attackers and midfielders, forcing a negative pass. Nobody wants to help one another out at the moment, we’re starting to dwindle and not look like a team. Recently we are once again looking like a group of individuals who all expect too much of one another.

All that points to us needing a decent coach

Why Rosenior specifically? Why not Given, Rooney and Walker as well?

That's not a rhetorical question, I genuinely want to know.

Asking the same question ?Have noticed on here though, when we lose there is always someone who has to take the blame...

Maybe appearances are deceptive, but lack of energy, desire to avoid relegation ( because that’s all that matters this season) and not having a real go at the opposition. I really don’t want to be sexist, but it’s time to man up and secure Championship status. Then the cull can begin ?

Selecting players based on how hard they will work eventually catches up on you. That seems to be a theme of Rooney's team selections, 99% hard workers and then usually a lone player tasked with creating chances on his own (with a little help from the full backs). Bird - keeps possession with simple passes and works hard, but will never be the man to pick a killer through ball. Knight - will run his socks off but can't take on his man and doesn't have the ability to create good chances for our forwards. Shinnie - pretty much the same as Knight. Waghorn - decent on occasions from set pieces, but he's a poor finisher and isn't good enough on the ball to be tasked with creating chances for CKR. So the lone creator today in midfield/attack was Roberts who often had to try and take on the world on his own in the hope of creating a chance. We'll probably make changes for our next game but I'm expecting a similar theme, Jozwiak/Roberts as the creative player surrounded by hard workers.

Why have we been slowly getting worse in recent weeks?

Is it because of Bielik's injury?

Is it because Rooney keeps changing the lineup/formation every game?

Has the initial boost when Rooney first became manager worn off?

Have the January arrivals unsettled the team?

All of the above.

Just get back to 4-4-2. Higher pressing, ball into CKR, support around him, stop messing around with it.

I agree, Recent games having been reminding me more and more of Cocu.

  • High defensive line with no press.
  • Pointless, dangerous possession at the back.
  • No movement in the final 3rd
  • Opposition just waiting for our defenders to make an error and score from it.

Except even worse than when Cocu was here.

A massive problem is a complete lack of link up play between our defense/midfield and our attack. No players able to find pockets around the opposition box, No player picking the ball off the defense, turning and playing a forward pass or running at the opposition. The only players remotely like that are Sibley, Lawrence and possibly now Watson. Lawrence is injured, I don't know what,s happened to Sibley. Watson hopefully might get a start soon.

Everything apart from the last comment. Think we needed players in
