Didn’t realise we had 280,000 at the game. Frankie really has created a buzz at Derby hasn’t he?!

Leeds would have taken more

At the same stage last season (16 games) we had scored two goals fewer, conceded two goals more and had acquired three fewer points.

Care to re-appraise the highlighted paragraph?

Just curious and not really wanting to score a point (we’ll a tiny bit ?)  but how does the goals scored / goals conceded look if we include cup games ?

Last season's foray into the league cup was a 1-0 win over Grimsby and a 3-2 defeat to Barnsley.

This season, a 2-0 win at Oldham was followed by a 4-0 win at Hull, then a 2-2 draw at Man Utd (winning on penalties) and a 3-2 defeat at Chelsea.

Therefore, if we include those results, at this stage last season we had scored 9 goals fewer and conceded one goal more, acquired three fewer points and exited the League Cup two rounds earlier.

Course that’s including 2 rounds that weren’t played last season, against top premier league opposition, that we conceded 5 goals in total against.

Really it should be a like for like comparison.

So in the two rounds we played under Rowett, vs the first two rounds under Lampard, we scored 3 more and conceded 3 less. That’s pretty emphatic.

You mean Barnsley is like Chelsea and Grimsby like ManU?

Just back to the shaky defense discussion for a minute.

We've only managed 3 clean sheets in the league from 16 matches (5/20 overall). It stands to reason to think of our defence as shaky when 13/16 of our opponents have managed to score against us. Only 6 teams have fewer clean sheets in the league (3 equal our 3).

If you're pretty much guaranteed to concede at least one goal in a match then your defence will never be considered solid even if the cumulative goals against tally stays reasonably low.

On the positive side of it we've only conceded more than 1 goal in 2 of our 16 league matches (4/20 overall) and haven't conceded more than 1 goal in a league match since 18th August, a run of 13 games.

Expected goals against you said? Won't go down well here.  ?

If you want a like-for-like comparison which uses Rowett as the baseline, I'll need more razor blades.

Don't think this thread should drop off the first page just because we've lost a game...

Not sure anyone here has the stomach to read the Villa reactions after Saturday. They're an arrogant fanbase as it is.
