Plenty of people crying about how much other teams are spending but like Red_Dawn pointed out earlier in this thread it seems we're soon forgetting how we've tried to bankroll the division. We could've spent £500m over the last 3 years but if the result of that is still Jacob Butterfield & Nick Blackman then you can't really consider Gary Rowett to have inherited a £500m squad. It’s just for balance really, we can whip up plent it of excuses but we can’t for others? If we’re gonna talk specifics then Villa have been without 28 million of their 80 for the most part through injury (Kodjia/Hogan), Wolves have spent big on Neves this season but other than that there’s not much different to most clubs apart from their contacts. Not surprised they are doing so well - they still have a lot of money coming in from the parachute payments after all.
