Raminphilippines
Back in them days the refs used to enforce the rule on keepers not moving until the ball was kicked.

ram59
The thing is, in training, he only faced England's players taking penalties. Usually their penalties were that poor that you could wait to see which way they were going!

The one he saved was against a guy that went on to score a world cup winning penalty if my memory serves me correctly!

Had to check what the non-save/goal was.

Usually save percentage at penalties is somewhere between 20-25%. Statistically 15 penalties ain't that much though.

Was at the match, and remember that goal by Jossie Me too. Are we the same person? I've always said I never saw Shilton save one but that's clearly a pile of toss. Perhaps I just blanked another defeat.

Warren Hobhead
That penalty shootout was awful. Shilton didn't get near them. My abiding memory though was the little German with the tache and big grin as he tucked one away. Little bleeder.

The ball hit the back of the net before Shilts had even moved. Think it was Olaf Thom but may be completely wrong!

richgee1976
Probably the best keeper we've ever had. In his defence, most keepers don't save penalties! Some people have mentioned Dave Beasant as a good penalty saver. He probably had a good 4 inches in height over Shilts which I'm sure made the difference. I'd rather have Shilts in my goal than Dave Beasant.
