George Thorne to make surprise comeback.

Followed by....

George thorne to suffer serious injury set back.

Heh heh .. But seriously I wonder if Fozzy is getting close ?

have a feeling that there are goals in this and Keogh/Pearce can keep them at bay. ... Hoping for a big score to send us off on hols with a few big fat grins

Hughes or Bryson ? Or will he do 4/2/3/1 and give Vydra a run out .. Anya to start or remaining as impact and/or cover ?

                      Carson

         Keogh    Pearce    Baird

Christie  Johnson    Hughes      Anya

                        Ince

              Nugent      Vydra

Rowett has used 3/5 at the back before and i would like to see us use it at least once before next season. We may see it in a pre-season game but with nothing to play and it being the last game of the season against the already relegated Rotheram I think it is a good a time as any to give it a try.

I understand the sentiment but I bet you he sticks with Butters at DM - he'll want to see that play out a few times first, before sampling other formations.

My conclusions are :

The 4/2/3/1 works but he needs both Nuge and Vydra available.

4/3/3 can still work but not quite as before ...Martin was a better all round holder of the ball AND Bryson/ Hendrick were BOTH specialised runners/raiders..The current mids aren't quite the same. Put those differences together and you end up needing them closer to Nugent. This seems more likely to work with Johnson and AN Other, up the field. (Butters isn't aggressive enough in current form)

Was just a thought, can't imagine he'll make many changes coming off a 3-1 win and will probably stick with the 4231. Hopefully a couple of youngsters might be involved though.

If we score 3 goals against Rotherham, they will become the first team to concede 100 goals in the Championsip since Stockport County were relegated in 2002 (they conceded 102).

If we beat them, they will finish on 22 points. The lowest ever total in championship for a 46 game season. The only post-war second tier teams to have got worse points totals are:

Sheffield Wednesday in 1974/75 (21 points in a 42 game season)

Watford in 1971/72 (19 points in a 42 game season)

Barnsley in 1952/53 (18 points in a 42 game season)

Let's be honest. Even in the poor state we are in, we should be beating these.

Can't get my head round why we haven't seen this yet

Probably because you don't just change to a 3 at the back system in the middle of the season. In that system, more than any other, every player has to know their role perfectly and you can't expect them to do that mid-season. You need a pre-season to build that understanding.

I used to think the same. Then this season came along a plennnnnnttttyyyy of clubs seem to have switched to it with ease

Got any examples? I genuinely can't think of any, but then again I haven't been paying close attention this year.

As I mentioned elsewhere, The Rams also have the chance of inflicting a 'goals against' tally of 100 on Rotherham this season if we score three goals.

Surely Gary could use that target to assess if these players actually can be ruthless and accurate in front of goal?

Put aside the tedious and perpetual off-field traumas, Derby, and go out and blow the opposition away!
