DarkFruitsRam7
I've read somewhere that you're not actually allowed to do that, can't remember where though. Edit: Might have been from the Magic Sponge podcast when Jeff Winterton was a guest.

Will Hughes Hair
Can't imagine Bucko doing that, so I'm going to call that out as unmanly and unsporting. Mind you unmanly and unsporting are French character traits, so I've no idea why the ref got upset.

Boycie
When the no handling from a back pass rule first came into force, a friendly game was played in preseason where one of our players did the exact thing, canna remember who, but the ref wouldn't allow it. Rev
As far as I understand it, the keeper didn't handle it, so it's not a foul or a card?
Alex W
It's under the rule of 'fair play', not to take the mickey. You can card for it but don't necessarily have to give a free-kick. Basically he got booked for taking the piss in a situation where there was zero need for it.
Gladram
I think the rule is you can't manufacturer a header or use trickery as it's names in the rule. There is no need for the goal keeper to handle it, the offence is in the trickery

If you give out yellow cards for taking the piss, Lansbury would get one every time he took the field. Thank fook we didn't sign him, so the joke still stands! If memory serves it was Brian Laws. He headed it back to the keeper like that, the law makers realised they'd left a loophole and changed the law to put a stop to that sort of thing. RamNut
Don't criticise the ref. you'll have 2 hours of Mafiabob to contend with.

Must admit I wasn't totally sure so looked it up. Cautions for unsporting behaviour in Law 12 include uses a deliberate trick to pass the ball (including from a free kick) to the goalkeeper with the head, chest, knee etc. to circumvent the Law, whether or not the goalkeeper touches the ball with the hands

mrdave85
Why would he bother doing that? I mean, he's in acres of space, plenty of time to pick a different option. Seems like he's being a bit of a d***
Highgate
Not his cleverest moment, but he is an excellent player Verratti, when bipedal.

Best midfielder in the world for me alongside Kroos and Modric. Great player, you know you're good when you can go to the camp nou and single handedly dominate the midfield
