DcFc Dyycheee
Spanish newspaper Marca have on Tuesday revealed Malaga's plan to get Raul Albentosa from Derby County on a permanent deal. Albentosa has been on loan at Malaga for a year and the Spanish club have a rather reasonable clause to make the deal permanent... just €1.2m. However, Malaga don't want to be reasonable and don't want to pay the amount. The Spanish club don't want to go any higher than €800,000. Malaga's preferred figure is still more than the €600,000 which Derby County paid Eibar, but that's hardly the point. Malaga's plan is to put big pressure on Derby to try and force the price down. Marca report that Albentosa has had a verbal agreement in place for several weeks to join Malaga permanently, and his will is very much for that to happen. To that end, the possibility of Albentosa terminating his contract is brought up. This is often threatened but very rarely happens. The 27 year old has a contract with Derby until June 2017 and trying to cancel that could lead to sanctions relating to his playing registration, it's really not worth the risk. - http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/derby-player-has-verbal-agreement-to-join-another-club-before-any

But then this seems an odd negotiation tactic from Malaga... usually you pretend you don't want a player to try and drive the price down... Surely the contract termination thing would be daft by them anyway... Since it cost us the €600k to cancel his contract with 6 months to go... Would assume we're paying him more... So 12 months minimum at more money... Would imagine it would be over the €1.2m agreed surely?

Which is utterly bizarre. There's no sanction for paying a contract off. Either it's completely crazy or something is being lost on translation. I would imagine either way termination would be the worst financial option for them? Odd reporting anyway (not addressed a you @DcFc Dyycheee... The info as addressed by the original article writer) I think it's fairly clear he's never playing for us again though so I would imagine he'll be out the door fairly sharpish for whatever money we deem fitting... DEL
Shame really because he wasn't used in the right position though. If Malaga gets him permanently then they got decent defender IMO.

He may be okay in the Spanish league where they play a different style of football but he was tosh here. obviously my opinion only and not in any way a fact
Rev
They've agreed a fee of €1.2 million, if he's been that good some other spanish side will pay it if they won't. If not, auction him to the highest bidder.
South Ram
Was thinking about this the other day and I thought that maybe he'd be in pearsons plans. Probably wrong
rynny
If they don't want to pay the agreed fee then they don't sell him to them. Rather sell to someone else, if we were to sell at a lower price, or keep him here.

Gave him the benefit of the doubt, but the missus being homesick, following the insoles, that and then then not being able to pass beyond 10 yards it seemed really tested loyalty. There's a decent player there on video evidence, just not in our back line.
Abu Derby
Does the €1.2m fee include the cost of the petrol we spent chasing him all around Spain? The other eleven clubs must surely now renew their interest, pushing his price up further.

Malagaram
From a Report in our local weekly,a look at how the Malaga Squad have faired in this end of season report. Albentosa,From a bit part player to key component of the Malaga side.Unable to displace Angelen in the first half of the season, the defender on loan from Derby County hasn't looked out of place since January. His aerial presence in both penalty areas is a useful asset and while he may look ungamely on the ball,he rarely loses possession.A must keep for the coming campaign. ramit
We have a new manager who hasn't seen Albentosa up close. Malaga don't want to pay an already agreed price, yet consider him a must keep for the coming campaign. Two can play this game, hike the price up to 1.6 million euros and reluctantly meet them in the middle eventually, or not. He is having a good season with them, sounds like a seller's market to me.
