Still rubbish, expected to be running away with the league by at least 10 points by now. Clement out, Mel out, fans out.....

Oh screw it can't say I've been this optimistic about the club in a long time, everything the club seems to touch is gold at the moment

If it had been the 1980s then you could have said Cox out - and got away with it

Best start despite being rubbish for the first 5 games. We're ahead of last season and hopefully no meltdown like last year so I can't see us not getting at least into the play offs now.

One reason this meltdown wont happen is we have 2 senior quality keepers.

The reality is, last season for whatever reason Grant let a few easy ones slip through his hands away from home, and wasnt coming for crosses, and the defence had no confidence in him. if that happens this season PC would change the 1st choice keeper. Something mcClaren didnt have the balls to do, maybe he didnt trust Roos as being good enough to step up. Who knows?

Indeed and the evidence would suggest that SM was right.

(although how Roos could have been worse that an under performing Grant is tough to imagine)

Didn't someone post when we where 9pts behind Brighton that we could not win the league we would never make that up?

Yep.

Every year it gets to September and some people say "the league is starting to take shape"

How can it take shape inside 10 or so games. The fixture list can be unfair over 5, 10, 15 games.

Everybody has their best 13-15 players on the pitch in September.

Come December - February you've got to use the squad, you've played teams in form, out of form, figured out their best team, unbeaten at home etc etc. You can see the serious contenders. You can see now where the likely top 2 of the Champ are going to come from. The likely top 6. There's now little divisions within divisions and 2 wins on the trot won't jump you 5 places.

Yet next year people will say it all over again.

When we played Reading we were playing a potential promotion rival. Now look, look how the season tests teams with all kinds of issues and how they cope... or fail to.

There were many reasons for the meltdown last season, injuries being one, And us not being as good as we thought we were . Apparently grant was injured at the end of last season as was hughes but we played them both anyway due to lack of options. Mind you if we lost thorne and martin like we did last year , then we could  still be affected this season too.  We still don't have alternatives to either ... In fact we had more DMs last year with eustace and mascarelle, but they both got injured too, as did bent for a month.

we are stronger in other areas tho... Shackell, Johnson and butterfield are all quality players. Weimann is good but needs to score more. Plus as you say we have Carson when fit as alternative to grant. Overall tho we are stronger than last year as the table and points tally shows.
