Time has come for Hughes

to move on?

With the emergence of Hendrick as the goal scoring, dynamic midfielder that we all knew he could be, is it time for us to cash in on young Will? Sell for a fair few million, reinvest some of the money in Graham Thorne (sic) and have money in the bank to strengthen other areas.

Would the playing side be significantly weaker?

Thoughts? Tin hat on?

He's young, he'll hit form at some point again. I still think that him playing for us next year, whether that be this league or the Premier League will be the best thing for his development. He has a team that understands him, and for his type of player it's easy for a side to pick him up and blame him for "poor form" after spending months making him watch it going over his head.

No way do we want to lose Will Hughes. YPOTY. Can't be letting them go unless somebody offers us 8 figures and that isn't going to happen.

Writing a player off at 18 for short-term gain? There are going to be games when Hughes will come into his own and destroy teams with his vision and passing - there are also going to be days when the industriousness of Hendrick and Bryson will run teams ragged.

There's also no guarantee that West Brom will be willing to sell Thorne

Really think he's still at the best place for both him and us. Bryson is such a different player that he's never provided competition for Hughes, but with Hendrick in form and the arrival of Graham, Hughes has got proper competition for the first time in his career. Great way to keep his feet on the ground and to have him training hard.

That being said, look how well Southampton have done out of cashing in on their young players. If we reinvest the money wisely, we could be better off. But it's risky.

How can we cash in on a player when we have not had a single concrete bid.

The interest in Hughes is merely speculation. There is nothing to suggest there is any substance in those rumours.

Hs current value is likely nowhere close to the 10M that was being bandid around before. That was based on a few good games and a blinder against Leeds.

His performances have been nowhere near hence the reason he has now been dropped. Not good enough for a second tier side.

The best we could hope for would be 3~4M so I would suggest hanging on to him in the hope that he can start producing the goods again and possiby with a little more concistency.

We'll likely need him next season for another promotion push.
