Did they? As much crap as we all give Theo he has improved considerably. His positioning is great but is over shadowed by his poor 1st touch. Theo's strengths are massively under-rated.

Not for nothing did Roger Hargreaves consider writing a book about 'Mister Sitter'

Rams seal deal for Norwich City striker.

We’re pleased Chris has decided to join us and provide another option in attack."

Nigel Clough

Derby County have completed the signing of Norwich City striker Chris Martin on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 24-year-old forward recently returned from a loan spell with League 1 leaders Swindon Town, where he made 12 appearances; scoring in the Robins’ 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in January earlier this year.

With frontman Theo Robinson moving out on loan to fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town earlier today, Martin has been brought in as an immediate replacement, and he is expected to go into the squad to face Watford at Vicarage Road tomorrow afternoon.

Manager Nigel Clough said: “We’re pleased Chris has decided to join us and provide another option in attack.

“With Theo asking to go out on loan, there was obviously a need to bring in a replacement once a deal with Huddersfield was agreed. Initially, Chris is here for a month and we’ll just take things from there.”

The Canaries Academy graduate has found it difficult to secure a regular first-team place with parent club Norwich this term in the Premier League, and has been limited to three appearances under Chris Hughton.

Since making his City debut as a substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Carrow Road in January 2007, Martin has gone on to make 117 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 34 goals in the process - 23 of which came in their 2009-10 League 1 title winning campaign, whilst in 2010-11, he scored for the Canaries in their 2-1 win at Pride Park.

Martin also had a loan spell Luton Town in 2008, where he played a key role in their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory at Wembley, scoring in a 3-2 extra-time victory over Ssausagehorpe United.

The Beccles-born striker spent last season on loan at fellow npower Championship side Crystal Palace. He netted seven Championship goals during his spell with the Eagles, two of which came against the Rams, taking his record against Derby to four goals in his last four games.

Watch an exclusive interview with new signing Chris Martin on Rams Player later this afternoon.
