    Which are?

that we have lost several of our better players and seemingly not replaced them with the same quality.

our squad is weaker than last years as things currently stand, and we didnt make the playoffs last year.

this is a season we really have to be challenging for the top 2, the current squad doesnt do that.

  2. definitely keep the faith.

but i think its only fair we are allowed to voice our concerns. i am not comparing the situations in a million years but we were told to keep the faith with mel. sometimes faith isnt rewarded, we all hope it is with warne but there are a few warning signs that things arent going to plan.

The fortunate bit was the premier league having one of its "one in 10" seasons where many of the top clubs just have a collective brain fart.

Last happened in 2016 and Leicester snuck the title.

Cooper was able to target, and collect, unexpected points whilst rivals panicked.

None of that was predictable at the start of the season.

i dont really agree with that i think its been the strongest premier league its been for a long time. look at the teams that went down, they had quality players and spent a lot of money.

chelsea and liverpool were the underachievers but the overall strength of the league probably contributed to that

How do you fluke a promotion?

Genuine question. If you finish in the top 6--or in the case of Sheff Utd top 2--you genuinely deserve to go up.

I'm assuming you also feel we flaked staying up?

The negativity on here astounds me sometimes.. Why not just have some grace and say that Cooper did an unbelievable job getting us up and an even bigger challenge in keeping us there.

maybe "fluke" was the wrong word, i am not saying any of them didnt deserve to go up.

but achieve promotion unexpectadly against the odds so you are not prepared, going up with a squad not really expected to compete at prem level.

that is why forest brought 30 odd players because the squad that went up wasnt good enough to stay up and the gap is too big between the divisions so you almost have to gamble with the future of the club to stand a chance, and full credit to cooper you are right he has done a job most of us dream about

  5. if you get fluke promotions like luton have and forest did (maybe even sheffield united?) then i think you either have to gamble all in or just pocket the money. looks like the two up this year will just pocket the money and forest gambled but it paid off.

there is not much point doing something in the middle like huddersfield did and sheffield united did last time they were up, if you do that it leaves you in limbo land of still going down with not a great squad but also not having infastructure to invest in.

in an ideal world you pocket the money and stay up like burnley did, its possible but very very unlikely on paper. the difference between the leagues really is massive and getting bigger every year. most of the bottom half last year spent £100m +

  6. pre season results only matter if they are extremes and there is serious alarm bells.

i remember last pre season arsenal were blowing everyone away and ended up challenging for the title

when sunderland went down back to back to league one, they lost 5-0 in their final pre season game to celtic.

I also get the sense this may be more of a reflection of the situation Championship finds itself in financially. Gone are the days of teams like Bristol City (decent size, but no parachute payments) splashing £5m on even standout L1 players, maybe pre-COVID days we might have had offers of £3-4m from teams for Knight instead of £1-2m.

Come the end of the window, £2m might look sizeable in context.

we were never getting more than £2m

but as with any transfer fee the only relevant bit is what we spend it on, if we got £10m for him and wasted it on tosh then its irrelevant what we got

Did you look at Didzys record before he came here?

He was hardly prolific and had never scored a hattrick.

he was a quality player that had played succesfully at the highest level - his individual quality was not in doubt

not slagging washington off but he is not mcgoldricks quality

It will take time but in 50 years I imagine there will be a large number of women managers in the men's game.

i dont even see it taking that long. the womans game professionlised not that long ago so former pro players will be going into coaching and naturally transition into the mans game maybe through academy level and then you get a pathway for managers.

you look at how the german league in particular offers a great pathway for academy managers transitioning into the first team. hannah dingley already making that move that loads will in the future i think.

the issue has always been qualifications to get the job in the first place, if they are good enough clubs will take the punt.

Interest for Sam Nombe seems to be picking up, really hope derby are in for him he’s a great player at this level and would be brilliant as a striker in a 2. Only 24 with one year left on his contract wouldn't be an astronomical fee. 43 appearances last year (34 starts) with 15 goals and 7 assists.

this is exactly the player we should be targeting if we want to get out of this division. not all of them will pay off, but the age profile and hunger to achieve in the game will be perfect for us and over time they will grow into players we can back long term.

As by far the leading club in the division with, according to our chairman, a healthy budget, its a shame if we need to consider loaning anyone. We have professional people whos job it is to find talent from anywhere in the world for the short or long term benifit of the club. I'll wait a little longer before I start twitching but I'm very suprised we havent completed the vast majority of our business early.

i agree. i would have liked to see us be proactive after we would have known a long time ago mcgoldrick would have been departing, to see no movement yet is disappointing.

What she said was that it was an insult to women's football to suggest that AFC Wimbledon would be a 'step up' for her from managing Chelsea.

i am a huge advocate at the womans game, i often go to womans games with my granddaughter and its a great experience.

but the mens professional game is still a step up. that is proven in terms of revenues & average attendences. the womans game can produce some good numbers for specific games (at very cheap prices), but the big picture over a season the attendences are still poor & the game is propped up by bigger sides bankrolled by the mens teams.

I severely doubt it. She was linked with the Wimbledon job and referred to it as an "insult". As a club owner, why shortlist her just to receive a lecture about how insignificant your club is and how even considering her for the role is somehow disrespectful?

agree, i have never liked Emma Hayes attitude towards the mens game and taking jobs. she coulhave had a good job that could act as a stepping stone and be a real role model for woman coaches, instead she opts to stay at the top of the womans game and make snarky comments about not getting top jobs in the mens game.

it's a completely different ball game, its for her to prove otherwise - not expect everything given to you on a silver platter. you can file sol campbell under that, constantly moaning about not getting jobs - maybe its because of your personality not your race or gender.

  14. i hope she does well as it may create a pathway for others.

there are lots of differences between the man and womans game, but managers.... it is irrelevant who you are.

if you are a good manager of people and know the game, gender doesnt matter you can be a success. thats proven in loads of male managers that have never even played the game before.
