Chris_Martin reacted to Anag Ram in Derby v Stevenage FC - Match Day Thread
He had to play two wingers as forwards and hope we grabbed something.
He went safe to start with and made changes which led to a goal.
I’ve criticised him in the past but today he and the team carved out a very important result.

What are you shouting out Warne for? Setting us up in a formation that, as you say, doesn't work for us?

helps if you only play 2 attacking players...

10 points ahead of that Peterborough super team who ‘looked levels above us’ recently.
Is Paul Warne actually overachieving?

Chris_Martin reacted to DCFC Kicks in Derby v Shrewsbury Town - Match Day Thread
So if teams finish above us, that must only mean they are good? Its impossible that they could be above us because we're bad, is it? Just because teams are "the benchmark", doesn't prove they're good.
How does the fact no-one is pulling away in the league prove that its of high quality and competitive? It just proves there are no good teams, because a good team would be pulling away.
Its an advantage in the fact that - the vast majority of the time, relegated teams are competitors for promotion the following season. Therefore its three direct competitors removed from the equation, fighting for three spots. Whether Reading/Wigan beat us in a one-off game is irrelevant. Its where they are in the league table.

All three goals v Exeter were prime example

what?
i highly doubt clowes would have given a different manager more money to spend. He has a budget for the season,
I think almost any football league manager would struggle to get relegated from league one having all these players

Chris_Martin reacted to Archied in Paul Warne
You mean someone runs the length of the pitch , beats ten men and buries it all the time , wish some would compile a video of all the goals scored this season , I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all sorts from individual brilliance to really slick passing and everything in between but hey ho 🤷♂️

Nonsense. We have some good players. A top manager would have us really flying

Lets be honest, the clean sheet was a touch fortunate. They did hit the post and accumulated 1xg to our 1.2xg, as well as having more shots.
The 3 goals were good quality, but the problem is that there is just no pattern of play to either our attacking or defending. We just completely rely on moments of brilliance from a NML or Bird for example. It's identical in that regard to Didzy last season. We are basically the man utd version of league one. No identity, no pattern of play, fairly boring to watch, heavily reliant on moments from individuals, and just getting enough results to keep us near the top.

Chris_Martin got a reaction from DCFC Kicks in Collins not everyone's favourite.
doesn't warne always say something like get it forward as quick as possible though ?
it's one of the reasons we have such little possession and struggle to control games

Didzy made most of his goals himself last season

Chris_Martin got a reaction from DCFC Kicks in Exeter City V Derby County: player ratings
yes.
i gave him the 4 for the work rate he put in. How can you score him any higher than that when he didn't actually contribute anything else?

it also shows just how incredible our squad is for league one

Wolves away was f****** b*******, Bent gets clattered by Batth, clean through on goal but Ince scores from the resultant loose ball.
It’s either advantage and a goal or a red and a free-kick.
Free-kick and a yellow.
Not sure Collins missing would have the same impact as Martin, mind. Martin wasn’t just our goal scorer, he was our creator as well.

I sincerely hope Collins is ok and it's a tactic by PW to keep Steve Evans guessing prior to our game on Saturday.
It can't help but bring back the trauma of the 14/15 season when Chris Martin picked up an injury at the same time of the season when we were in a similar position in the table, and was out for 10 games. Darren Bent got injured as well, and, hey presto, no striker.
Johnny Russell was played up top but didn't score a single goal in this period. Wolves away was particularly painful and sticks in my memory.
We slipped down the league and the season fizzled out with us finishing 8th.
Of note, the first game we played after Martin got injured was Rotherham away, managed by a certain Steve Evans. 3-3. His post match comments were along his usual themes:
"What an advert for Rotherham United being (in) the Championship.
"There's tinges of great disappointment being 3-1 up. We got a point but we have come across the best team and manager in the division."

I would like to think Warne didn't feel the need to employ rumors as a tactic to beat stevenage
