I always thought Daniel was a bit taller than he appears on the pic, if it is him next to Todd
I'm pretty sure the other player facing away from the camera is Ron Webster

How about Jeff Hendrick on loan? He needs a club and he'd be a quality addition to the team!

1968 Derby v Chelsea league cup replay. Went a goal down then scored three in the second half to win. 30 odd thousand in the BBG sounded more like. 90 thousand. Never heard Rams fans louder, before or since. This was the start of the glory years.
Yes I was there. Unbelievable sound. The ground was rocking that night

It's a good pitch, but not as good as the Baseball Ground pitch in the 1970s

I don't think he was given much of a chance here

I remember both myself and AngryRam used to call him for what he was and we both got slaughtered on here for having a go at him. I knew him of old and I knew he was not good for the club. Such a cocky big headed bar steward as you'd ever have the unfortunate experience to meet.
So glad he's left the club and buggered off

Think they had to put new ones when we entered European competitions for TV coverage
That's what I remember too

Those of us who remember the old ground can see that apart from the floodlights that ground was the same in 1939 as it was in 1969 before they build the Ley Stand. I imagine they spent nothing on it except a few bob for paint and whitewash. Very little money went into the club. We had shopkeepers as directors rather than oligarchs. They didn't spend much but at least they kept us on an even keel.
I seem to recall they put new floodlights up in about 1970

Never seen that before looks at least 20,000 plus but always hard to tell with terraces.
sobering to think many would soon be off to war maybe to never make it back!
Yes I was thinking that too. Within a year or two many of the crowd would have been dead

Erm, wasn’t the Buck in the Park a pub for the Gay community once?
Not that I knew off. I thought that was the Green Man

The Spotted Horse was one of the haunts of Boker Wright and Winnie Austin, Boker used to say "Gi us 10p kid" when you went past him, Boker and Winnie were alway drunk and in the middle of an argument\shouting match.
I used buy Bocker a drink every now and again. He was often outside the White Horse in the Morledge.
He must have liked pubs with the name Horse

Who remembers the bovver boys with their Doc Marten boots and short jeans who used to congregate in the Spotted Horse before matches in the 1970s. I only went in there once to meet my mate Tez Sprinthall and found it to be way too intimidating for my taste lol
Any memories of those days in there?

Did the bogs resemble those on the Popside at a 38,000 gate for the full experience?
The bogs on the Popside in a 38k attendance in the 1960s were the terraces where you stood lol
Come to think about it, if we are talking pre Ley Stand I don't think you'd get £38k in the BBG in those days

I much prefer to sit, but as with some away grounds I've been to, the fans stand, so I just go with the flow and stand with them.
All I would say B4 is, if everyone around you is sitting, I'd suggest you sit or, if possible, find another seat where the majority are standing. I appreciate if it's a sell out this may be difficult for you. You never know, there may be someone in the standing section that would prefer to sit (me for example) who would happily change seats with you?
