    Indeed.

I can remember the guy you mean although not his name.

He was an acquaintance of my dads but not a close friend I don't think. I remember him, but not like I do Ron Webster, Harry Brown, Earnie Hallam and some others who were regulars at our house.

Ernie "Mr Ramaway" Hallam, he used to run a pub quiz night at the Sportsman's Club, where we played dominoes etc.  He ran it with his friend Phil but i can't remember his surname (age I guess)

@oldtimeram here he was with Sam as well as Harry, Shirley and my mum and dad. Harry looks so playful. Good times.

I recognise quite a few on that pic.  David the chap I mentioned that was the Landlord of The Plough at Hathersage (with the sideburns) is at the back.  He looks a bit like Amos from Emmerdale.  I also knew the chap next to your dad but couldn't recall his name.  Bill Clarke at the front I knew very well as he worked for Derby City Council when i was there

What about the gypsy caravan guy from Southend?

Yes that's the guy.  I couldn't remember his name.

A lucky escape on that one I reckon.

    Likewise with Ferrie Bodde too

If that's your dad, I knew him quite well.  He used to go in the Sportsman's Club at the BBG.  I never realised he was your dad.

A long time ago, but I seem to recall he was friends with a chap called David (big sideburns) who was the Landlord of The Plough at Hathersage in the early to mid 1970s

It would have been my dads 100th birthday this week and a mate posted this picture of him at work.

If you look behind you can see a Derby fixture list and I *think* it's Bobby Davison on it. Anybody know what year it was from or even have it still?

I could be wrong btw and it's not whoa Bobby.

He passed away around that time 1978ish I was at Darwin 1976-79 his wife stayed on in the caretakers bungalow for a few years

He was a top badminton coach Darwin and Henry Cavendish were among the top schools in the country at badminton

Yes, he was a very good coach and helped my game enormously and got me up to county standard.  A nice chap too.

Caskey and Moreland had houses in Oakwood when it was first being built in the late 70’s,they backed onto Darwin school and they used to watch some of our school matches I don’t think they were good enough to get in Darwin’s team to be honest

Was Horace Horton still the caretaker at Darwin then?  He used to coach badminton on a Saturday morning

Seen this on twitter, so thought I’d bring it to the forum. If you could only choose one team to win on Saturday, would it be Derby or England?

For me, the answer is easy. I’d much rather England beat France in a World Cup Quarter Final and have the whole country go mad than Derby win a random league game.

Agree 100%.We can lose on Saturday and it does not make a great deal of difference in the bigger scheme of things.  Losing to the Froggies is unthinkable

Not sure how many on this forum are old enough to remember these old songs , or possibly add their own memories:

    Aye, aye, aye

Les Green is better than Yashin

    Hector is better than Eusebio

and Wolves are in for a thrashin’

I hear the sound of distant bums

    over there, over there

    and do they smell,

    like George Kinell

    O’hare, O’hare,

    O’hare, O’hare,

born is the king of the Baseball Ground

Strolling, just strolling by the lights of the BBG.  I don't envy the rich with their Greaves and their Law's, just give the ball to Kevin and he'll show you how to score, while strolling, just strolling..........
