There are at least 100,000 Rangers fans who don't share your opinion.

How me posting 3 sentances only 2 of which are related to Rangers, makes you know my opinion is beyond me? and than to say a least 100,000 people agree to disagree with what ever my opinion is. Any hoo the joys of internet forums

    Kind regards

If Man Utd went into liquidation, which league do you think they'd start in?

Servco FC, you may know them a Glasgow Rangers are a club that started in the 4th league of the Scottish pyramid after the old club Glasgow Rangers went into liquidation in 2012. Most people believed they would win back to back to back promations but that didn't happen. Also as far as Im concerned a phoenix club is in no way the original club hence the phoenix club has no history and no trophies to its name.

  3. Even if the great escape doesn't happen this season.

Just look at Heart of Midlothian FC in 2013 they went into administration got deducted points, which sent them down. Not only relegated the club nearly lost the stadium. However a fan lead ownership group was formed they saved the club, the stadium and got promotion the next year.

In 2020 when COVID hit the Scottish season got suspended and didn't complete, despite Hearts having a game in hand and on a very good run they got relegated (totally unfairly) again.

There response was to romp to promotion and now back in the Scottish premier league they sit a comfortable third and are looking forward to some European games next season.

So even administration and relegation is by far not the end of things.

As a side note when Hearts got deducted points and were sure to be relegated, city rivals Hibernian FC held a relegation party in the away end of Tynecastle (Hearts stadium) to celebrate Hearts relegation. The Hibs fans had inflatable palm trees, Hawaiian shirts, party hats the full works.

Sadly for Hibernian they lost that game and ended the season by going 13 games without a win and got relegated themselves and stayed down for 3 years.

So for all the fans of other clubs who want Derby relegated or worse, be carefully for what you wish for, because Karma can be a bitch.

Had A quick scan of this thread and not seen this posted, it's all most good to go, clearly now singing EFL rather than EMI.

I'm sure someone with more skill than me can change a few more lyrics.  However it already has such classic line as

  6. Cards on the table, I'm not from Derby or Derbyshire and I've never lived there. However my family did visit Derbyshire regularly for weekends away and as a kid I loved the trips to Derbyshire. Around 1971 at the age of about 4, I became aware of a football club called Derby County and it just so happened they were top of the league. So that was the team for me, a true glory hunter.

We did have a family friend who was a Rams fan and he took me to a few games in the 70's. Then in 1977 my family moved to Birmingham and with school friends I started watching WBA, local to me and they had possible one of the most entertaining teams ever (amazing to think that side never actually won anything) so for a while I flirted with becoming a Baggie.

Then in 1982-3 after the Forest FA cup game I knew Derby was the team for me?

I was now old enough to travel a little further on my own and had some earnings other than pocket money. By 1985 I was a season ticket holder at the BBG and went to many away games.

Spin forward to 2006-2007 I was 39 and for me live was changing you could say live really did start at 40. So after the Wembley win ironically against WBA I didn't renew my season ticket.

I kept going to PP and a few away games but over the years that became less and less, then crashgate happened and I said at the time I would never give Derby a penny again until the players involved had left the club and I stand by that today (other than fan lead fund raising i'm happy to contrubute to that)

Yes I wish Derby all the best and I could never support any other English team and the fact that I'm here on this forum shows I still love Derby.

However I have to go back to crashgate, from that moment I became a member of Foundation of Hearts. a Heart of Midlothian fan group. I followed Hearts from about the same time I became aware of Derby as a young kid I guess I just liked the name Hearts FC.

From the 80's onwards I would get to 2 or 3 Hearts games a season and now as a member of the Foundation of Hearts who recently took ownership of Heart of Midlothian FC, I see myself more of a Hearts fan then a Derby fan.

I love Derby(shire) and have so many great memories of the BBG and PP along with all the away games. And wish them so much love for the future and hope soon Derby will have it's club and its soul back.

However on Saturday at 12:30 Hearts FC were live on TV and I watched that game. I did record the Derby game with the intention to watch it later.

After the Hearts game ended I clicked across to the Derby game just in time to see a certain player score the penalty I watched the few minutes till the end of the game then hit stop recording followed by delete and got on with the rest of my day save in knowledge Hearts were in the next round of the cup.

  7. Personally, British rail in December 1983 my train was delayed, due to a boat on the track near gloucester (true) i got to Derby late about 3,30 able to listern to Radio Derby on my Trannie (back then that was a radio not a,   anyway) Derby were 0-2 down against high flying Newcastle as a lad on a YTS wage (£25 a week) i thought stuff this I'll save some money by not going to the game and having to pay full amount (a princely £3:50) for only one half of a game.

I got on the next train home only to find out Derby won 3-2

    Derby 3

    Davidson (2)

    Gemmill  (1) Pen

    Newcastle 2

    Keegan (1)

    Waddle (1)

I wish to claim back £2.25 the ticket price (with student rail card) but also £45 million from British Rail because the delay of that train meant i missed one of the greatest Derby come backs ever and that has haunted my mental state ever since.

And kids the message of this story is, never however desperate things are don't turn your back on your club.

  8. I will apologize if this point has all ready been posted or if I have the figures wrong.

I believe Boro are claiming 45 million because they had a 1 in 4 chance of winning 180 million the full amount, However they never had a 1 in 4 chance to 45 million they would have a 1 in 4 chance of winning 180 million

If there claim was for the full 180 million it would have held a lot more weight, by only claiming for 45 million makes no sense at all because they are admitting they wouldn't have got promoted as it never been the case were all 4 clubs agreed to an equal amount.

Which leaves them only able to claim for lost money from one home play off game and at a push a losing trip to Wembley and comes nowhere near 45 million. Admitting they would have failed in the play off's takes any loss of revenue down to at best 3-4 million.

With Wackum Wounderers don't all clubs sign up to a code of conduct each year to agree to the EFL rules, by making this claim aren't they disagreeing with the rules of EFL and ripping up there agreement to the EFL's code of conduct and effectively resigning from the league.

She’s definitely got a handle on the issues & of course what we didn’t know, is her previous conversation with the EFL asking how she could help. They told her the best thing would be for MPs not to make public statements, so now we’re in this situation & she’s not been contacted by them

very good that she’s on board . We shouldn’t worry that these MPs don’t have a handle on the issues

"They told her the best thing would be for MPs not to make public statements"

I hope there is some record of this in an email or minutes of a meeting, witnesses or even a voice or video recording. Back in  the day Tony Benn recorded everything.

  10. Interesting listening to Terry Christian, saying he was a do recently and for an hour before it started Rooney was in deep conversation with Sir Alex.

As for Rooney and Everton, well Lampard was a legend at Chelsea won everything for them as a player but it didn't buy he much favours when it came to managing them.

And as I say he was a club legend is Rooney a legend at Everton, Yes he's from the area played for them from being a kid but a legend? He won all his trophies playing for a team in city that a lot of Liverpudlians hate.

I'll give it about 6 months before you start hearing the shouts or see the banners of “you're Manchester and you know you are”

There are lots of reasons i have a problem with Boro's fabricated claim, but a key one is that they reckoned they were good enough as team to get promoted via the play offs in the 2018-19 season.

They missed out to Derby by one point.

Boro were not good enough that season to beat Aston Villa, West Brom or Leeds.

Aston villa beat Boro 3-0 on both games that season.

In my opinion Villa would have easily beaten Boro in the play offs, so they wouldn't been promoted.

And of course by Boro raising this argument, any team that just missed out on the play offs could go back and make a nonsense claim about them being the team that missed out on promotion and should therefore receive millions from the team that stole their place in the play offs.

In the 2014/15 season Wolves missed out to Ipswich on goal difference, but Wolves were level on points to Ipswich, under Boros mentality, shouldnt wolves receive 50 million for decisions that went against them during the season. Decisions which meant that they didnt get enough goals to be promoted via the playoffs.

For me the only thing Boro could possible claim for is the loss of revenue in hosting a post season home play off game, that is the only thing they could genuinely guarantee if Derby had been deducted points. Any other claim for compensation is pure flights of fantasy.

  12. I'm in no way a regular attendee of matches anymore so it's maybe not for me to say but I'm with boycotting this match. Whatever happens it has to be done peacefully and in style.

Personally I think the really classy thing to do would be to find a small local charity in the Middlesbrough area and donate the cost of a ticket to them. Just image 2000 Derby fans doing that it would bring in over £50000 and it will gain a lot of publicity and show us in a great light. Even thought I would not have been attending the match I'll happily put in £30 or whatever a ticket would cost.

By choosing a Middlesbrough charity it will show we have no problem with Middlesbrough, just there owner who in the long run with his action if true, may well end up doing more damage to his own club than to Derby

  13. This thread has reminded me of an incident in season 1991/92 which has vexed me every since. Middlesbrough finished 2 points ahead of Derby in second place so got automation promotion. Derby finished third and in the play off's, they went on and lost to Blackburn in the semifinals.

However on the last day of the season Middlesbrough were away to Wolves but it was discovered that for some reason there had been a break in at Molineux and live bullets had been left on the pitch.

So the whole pitch and I assume the stadium had to be searched to insure nothing else suspicious had been left.

Leading to a delay in allowing fans into the stadium and subsequently a delay to the matching starting. Meaning Derby's game finished well ahead of the game at Molineux. Derby had beaten Swindon 2-1(with Derby having a better goal difference) but with Middlesbrough knowing Derby's result they would have known how to play out the rest of there game to gain promotion.

I never did get to hear what the bullets on the pitch was all about, but I do remember thinking at the time it was very convenient for one team to know the others result.

  14. This maybe more of a long term idea to look at rather then a quick money raising exercise.

But just the other week Heart of Midlothian FC became a fan owned club after the Foundation of hearts took control of the club

    foundationofhearts

It was started when Hearts nearly went out of business and there ground sold to Tesco's after the club went into administration in 2014

As a side point if the worst happens and a phoenix club has to be set up I bagsy the new club should be called Lokomativ Derby County FC. It ties in with the railway connections the city has, its also a classic footballing name and every so often we go a bit loco and fall of the rails

Great response, Looking at that list it really is remarkable how many top class players can't hack it in management. Yet many lesser players can make it in management, I wonder if a lack of success as a player makes you more passionate to succeed as a manager?

However most of them on that list did manage in the top flight and I'll be more than happy to see Rooney manage Derby in the top flight. And a few of them did have half descent management careers.

In the current climate Derby find themselves having Rooney as the manager is a plus for me.

I can't image anyone being interested in signing for Derby right now other than the Rooney factor
