NML has been outstanding first half.
Expect fans are going to like him. Just because he’s so direct. He should have a lot of joy against some of the weaker teams this year.

Someone tell Shaun Barker that Barkhuizen isn’t “Barkenhuizen”

Age and experience doesn't automatically equal know-how.
It seems people are now happy for us to chuck away wages on players happy to sit on the bench knowing and being happy with the fact that they'll hardly ever have to play to earn them, just because they're popular in the dressing room. Beats me!
Just a couple of days after Club84’s whining, you need to be quicker.

I wouldn’t go three at the back. To go three at the back and make it truly effective you need 3 attributes - passing, pace and mobility - in at least 2 of the 3 defenders.
The age of the centre backs we have really rules out mobility and pace, other than Cashin. Cashin is average on the ball, Davies is terrible like Stearman too.
You’d really just be loading up in the starting line up at a weaker position, just because you have numbers. It doesn’t make sense. You’re not going to see passes sprayed about, playing out from the back, stepping up into midfield from the defenders we have.

Apart from the Covid season and a handful of individual matches I haven’t done Rams TV that much, but there’s something in the back of my mind that says it’s free outside the UK ? Is that right ?
Believe that’s just a type of membership option that isn’t offered within the uk.

What a brilliant thread.
The reality is that bringing in so many players is likely to be problematical. A couple just won't fit in and a couple will miss significant time due to injuries. The rest will take time to gel and it will take Liam a while to learn about his players.
I reckon that looks like a mid-table squad. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that everything could click and we make the top 6.
That is a far better position than I expected and about a million times better than I feared. We're a proper club again.
I know I've said it before, but thank you David Clowes. I think every Derby fan owes you a pint.
We have proven quality that is getting up there in years, the make or break on this is what we do to surround them with legs and athleticism.
We managed to strike a relatively good balance last season with Allsop, Byrne, Davies, Bielik and Lawrence being the consistent more experienced starters, then a few others like Forsyth getting regular games, and you could almost include Bird and Knight as experienced too. We just need to be careful we don’t end up with an average squad age way too high, or we could get caught out.

Just think about Quantama and the EFL one made him preferred bidder and the other was happy for him to proceed.
Scary
Pretty scary stuff when one Google search should tell you there’s no obvious wealth there.

I think another GK and full backs are a must. Then we can try and take stock and see where we need to add to the sqaud through the loan market.
Need to make use of loans on players with that bit of pace and a trick in the wide and forward areas. They’re the ones who don’t usually go free or cheap (unless you get lucky like Ebiowei), so I’d be focussing loans on those positions for sure.

He was so into Crypto I imagine he just about may have had enough money at Christmas. Then the arse has fallen out of it severely in the last 3 months and it seems to me he’s lost all money as a result.

What’s the latest on Byrne ? Has he signed an extension or what ?
I’m certain Fozzy will do a deal and we now have some firepower up front, some wingers and a solid CB situation. Need Nathan’s mercurial talent, abundant energy and all round ability.
He got the extension and don’t believe he kicked off like Buchanan. Not heard anything but he’s still liking tweets about us signing players and things.

All ears for any suggestions sub 30 years old.

We haven't got any keepers on the books and you don't understand why we have signed 2?
You’ve literally ignored my entire point, but you crack on.

Maybe because LR wanted two keepers capable of playing at this level? That's the basis of any competent squad after all.
If that’s the case, you’d hope Wildsmith expected this otherwise you’d immediately find an unhappy player. You just don’t tend to loan a goalkeeper to sit on the bench, especially when you’re in our state.
-
I don’t understand this. Yes, he looks good, but why have we signed Wildsmith who comes in as a suspected number 1 to then loan someone else for that job? And if this kid isn’t number 1, why we using a loan on it? Just seems a bit odd.

Davies has said he plans to carry on playing for a while. He’s said he feels he’s got 2/3 seasons in him. Clearly major injury’s permitting I can see him being in pro football until he’s 40+. Generally speaking he hasn’t had many major injuries in his career.
I thought he had said this would be his last one?
-
Rooney's bff, good riddance. Even lost his place for a good portion of the season, only saved by a few good performances near the end. We've signed 40 year olds with more pace than he's got.

Confirmed, don’t understand the “free transfer” bit. Even if he did get out of his contract we’re due compensation due to his age and having been developed for years by the club under FIFA regulations.
Just a terminology thing as it's not technically a transfer fee.
