The issue with Sibley highlights one the main issues I have and why I am rapidly losing interest in Derby under Rooney.
We had nearly got ourselves out of this mess and rather than try to add more creativity we went the other way. It is rubbish. We have just slammed into reverse.
Our manager pushes the need for players to be positive, be proactive. Yet, our team is picked to stop the opposition. Our subs reactive and often too late. He wants more creativity yet the few who have such skills are mere cameos. Is Sibley expected to win the game in 5 mins?

But there is definately an element of singling him out for special attention, there was zero need to bring up a lot of what he did.

That's fine when those starting are playing well. Have any of our attacking options looked like scoring or even creating anything in recent weeks? Sibley's been closest to hitting the back of the net since Kazim scored his wonder goal against Forest.

'We're' not putting any pressure on him. 'We' would simply like to see him given game time in light of how poorly those 'in front' of him are playing and for the manager to save any criticism for private conversations. If anyone is pressurising the kid, it's Rooney.

Sibley's only been given 6 starts all season. Back to back starts only once  thanks to his standout display against Birmingham... then dropped again after being one of several to put in bad performances (other bad performers remained in the sqaud).
It's no secret we've struggled to score all season, partly because we don't shoot often enough. Check this list of our top shooters out:
Only 1 of the top 10 is playing regularly, with another 2 used in rotation. We need the likes of Sibley in the team

One of Cocu's few positives when he was here was that he definitely improved the academy players. I don't think it's a coincidence that since he's left , Sibley and Bird have struggled. You could say Knight's form has possibly slipped a bit recently. Having said that, I don't know how Waghorn is starting over Sibley. Waghorn's offered almost nothing in recent weeks apart from the occasional set piece.

The Sibley thing is representative of how the club has lost it's way. We were supposed to be building up to 50% of our first team being academy products. That was a great plan! The fans were buying into it and it was working.
In today's line up we had one. And we lost anyway.

Yes, so we will carry on playing Waggy instead then, who is doing so much better......
Give Sibley a run in the team and he will not only create chances, he'll score his fair share too.
Frankly, I don't think we will see it for Derby as he will be off at the end of the season. I might join him.....

He does dive into challenges, and he is over eager. But you know what? He actually has attacking instincts, he wants to go forward. He wants to score goals. That is *exactly* the kind of player we need in the team right now. I don't care if he isn't perfectly disciplined defensively.

Can you seriously tell me what he could have done differently today? The build up play was so slow, when he got the ball he was already crowded out by 3 of there defenders with no support from anyone. Millwall were so deep he had no room to run into, which is one of his strengths. No one making runs to draw defenders away to create space. Most of the passes to him long balls where he was expected to win a header near the half way line.
I remember watching him when he last played for Poland against The Netherlands, where they set up to play on the counter attack, and he had a brilliant game and scored. Completely wasted in this team, just like Lawrence and Marriott have been, or most attacking players we've had in recent seasons. People are blaming the players when it's the tactics. I have no doubt if Jozwiak or Lawrence played in a team like Brentford for example, they'd flourish.

Lawrence has shown far more than Jozwiak has so I'd have him in and Jozwiak out the starting 11.
Bird I don't personally rate so if we get some money for him I'd move him on. Agree with Wisdom, a solid enough utility player to have in the squad. Waghorn not good enough to even come off the bench for me at the moment, I'd rather have Mason Bennett back, move him on. Jozwiak worth retaining to see if there is a player in there somewhere but not currently looking like a starter of a good side. Knight has potential so be happy to see him stick around, same with Sibley. Not bothered about Shinnie or CKR either way, disappointed we offered the latter a contract, moreso because if that is the statement of intent it is underwhelming but I understand the role he could play behind the scenes if nothing else.

I don't agree with the Jozwiak criticism. What is he, or any winger we have meant to do in this system we're playing? No space to operate in, no supporting runs, no movement, no one to cross to.

Or WR, everything you said above ... unable to see that in order to win games of football you need your most creative players on the pitch   - from the first whistle, not when you're already losing.
    Yes, we do.

Bird/Knight/Sibley could have 30+ games under their belts this season as a midfield 3, well on their way to becoming the most exciting partnership in the league. Watson coming through.
In that parallel universe would we have done any worse than we've done this season?
Instead we've got Knight being played all over the pitch and out of form, Bird and Sibley rotting on the bench.
We should do the decent thing and sell all three of them cheap to a club that knows how to use them.

I hope Sibley can take it. It must be very tough for him playing out of position, seeing Watson get praise for being brought in to play centrally when this is Sibley's position but he's never selected to show what he can do there. Yet last season he showed us how good he was playing centrally. It's a very weird one on Rooney's part.

None of the other players going forward are doing anything? Sibley coming on offers more than most of our attackers does, and yet is held to a standard the starters aren't.

Disgraceful comments from Rooney. What good will this do? A side and player low in confidence calling him out publicly is pathetic. Especially when you consider our atrocious attacking play this season. This is a major alarm bell for me. Rooney’s handling of Whittaker with the sub was questionable but possibly understandable. This is plain stupid. He’s annoying me recently. Claiming Buchanen is England potential (ridiculous claim) and now this. Sort it out Rooney.

Rooney has some nerve telling a player he has to do more - if it wasn’t for Bielik being in the side for a few games we’d be in the bottom three playing this managers negative poo football.

Sibley scored a hat trick v Millwall 9 month ago. It was declared that he was the player money couldn’t buy. Mel had searched Europe for a manager that would be great for the young players. Rosenior was the telly pundit that was the expert that had the knowledge of the championship. I’m sorry to say the management team has not been good for our young players especially Sibley.
