Without over egging it, I'm sure potential signings will not be looking at DCFC as a scrape around the bottom trying to avoid league 1, which you can't help but feel everyone signing for Rotherham knew they were signing up for.

What little I've seen this year he looks a tidy player with good set pieces but very lightweight. My Reading supporting mate suggested he wouldn't be sad to see him go, that was back when we were linked. I know he doesn't want to see their striker Kelvin (very long surname and I can't look it up right now) leave because he thinks he has big potential.
They're still hopeful of a sale to get a consortium in and that lunatic Yong out, but we know first-hand how long that stuff can take!

Nope , not pointed at you , in terms of speaking about one thread it just kind of clarified in my mind what I felt at the time , there were a few posters at the time ( don’t remember you being ott ) who were just as I say swamping every thread with warne out stuff plus constant new Warne out threads every ten minutes , there were many who just got worn down with the whole thing , you couldn’t even enjoy / celebrate a vital win regardless of perceived performance on a match day thread and some of it was outright bile thrown at a manager trying to do a professional job ,with a record that actually gave no one on here the right to call him a clown , pe teacher , David Brent who couldn’t attract a player or keep the players already at the club onside ,,,,, it was pretty bad and pretty non stop 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you're picking up on me talking about the one thread mentioned, it was in direct reply to the person I quoted taking quotes directly from it. I'm reading this as you pointing out there was more than just one thread, which of course there was.
Yes, comments and opinions were rife on every thread. Everyone was desperate for things to improve, with or without Warne. I thought I was being as diplomatic as I could be by pointing out both sides had valid arguments.
And just in case the brow beating etc was directed at me, I was more than open about liking Warne as a man, and wanting him to be the man who took us forward. I was eventually proved wrong, which was always my preferred outcome. So sorry for any part I had in making the forum "unusable".

Agree about the fitness. It's a cliche, but he'll be like a new signing with a decent pre-season under his belt.

A full pre season and build his fitness, he could just shine but I think we need to be patient with him. If he starts flat and doesn’t impress, my concern would be he’ll struggle even more, because I think he might be a confidence player. The type that is brilliant in the grove but gets worse with every mistake. Honestly feel Warne has tried to protect him, as he knew he wasn’t fully fit.

I think the move was a bit of a culture shock. Not just location but a new group of players and a focus on fitness and hard work.
Winning promotion and celebrating together should help him fit in and he has a summer with Sergeants Warne and Barker to look forward to.
If he comes out stronger, fitter and feeling loved, we may have a bit of a gem.

Agree about the move from London. After the hustle and bustle, and the bright lights of London, his first wander into our city centre would be one hell of a blow! It's a dump, especially the Victoria Street area! No wonder he seemed to lose his way!

Next season is, indeed, the time to pass judgment on CBT. Arrived injured, looked it, improved and that showed as well, then his injury flared up (or was it a different one?) and he didn't shine.
Get better, get fit, get a full pre season in him and, hopefully, we'll get the player we thought and hoped we were.

I notice towards this end of this thread that there is still disagreement, some of it quite entrenched, but there is now a degree of civility about the discussions, which is good!
On his arrival, I had concerns but was quite willing to give the guy a chance. After all, he had been somewhat restricted at Rotherham. I was also looking forwards to good times at the start of this season, but was somewhat concerned by our lack of control of matches, and the commensurate lack of actual football. His stubborn insistence on his "one way  to play" approach quite rightly earned him criticism, which peaked at the time of the great rebellion. The football wasn't just dire, it was mostly appalling. And much as many were prepared to put up with it in order to get out of this hell-hole, it was a really tough watch. I was by this time shifting quickly to "Warne Out", simply because it was clear we were capable of a much better level and style of football,  and when we saw glimpses of it, the good results followed. However, although criticism was, I believe, well justified, there was no need for the personal insults which were being thrown around. I may have lobbed a couple in hinting at his apparent lack of coaching and tactical prowess, but that is where it stopped. Form me it didn't reach the level of personal attack, and if I posted anything which could be perceived as such, then I apologise.
But then there seemed a watershed, a turning point. Whether or not the ferocity of the protests triggered or not most of us will never know, but all of a sudden we found Collins in the area when  crosses were being sent in, and the crosses themselves were no longer stratospheric. We also seemed to explore the use of midfield, which for months had been treated by the club as a barren wilderness. And the results started to come. The mood changed, and only changed after matches like Northampton and Wycombe, where we reverted to Warne's original MO. But having seen changes to how we approached games I was critical of going back to what had demonstrably failed several times, but hoped that it was a temporary blip. 
What I have observed, and this is just my opinion, is a maturing and growing by Paul and his team, so given the restrictions which the club still faced right to the end of the season, think he has done a good job. It was good to go into the closing matches expecting a result each time. I still believe that we could have achieved a lot more with a more expansive approach to tactics, but Paul Wane had his view of how to get the job done. He certainly helped his cause with the signings of Nyambe and Adams.
I am confident that in the same way that Paul knew how to get us out of League One, he also knows what will be needed to make us an established top-half Championship club, and am looking forward to seeing how he goes about it.
I am also looking forward to going into the new season on this forum with the new level of civility that we seem to have generated. WE should have a great future together.
