So first of all this is no defence of MM. Like most I am fuming, but let's not let emotion get in the way of reality.
Players value depreciation at championship level is not relative to premiership and as MM pointed out if you under value an asset then sell it you get a tax bill, so whilst the EFL don't like it, technically MM is right. Not the first time the EFL are wrong and it won't be the last.
As for Lampards team, years 2 and 3 don't matter as they left of their own free will, so there was no cost. In fact we got a pay off so made a profit.
WE didn't get the rub of the green and MM made mistakes, big mistakes, but he tried. That is all now history. We need to move on, support the club and the players and together, with a fair wind and a pinch of overdue luck, we will come out of this.

Businesses look at the future potential for profit, not just assets and current profit, as they reflect the performance of the current board of directors, not what a future board of directors might realise.

You don't know if you don't listen and by the same token can't judge if you don't listen. You may well be right, but you are guessing if you don't listen.

The administrators role is to keep the company going until a buyer is found or put the club into liquidation if it can't be maintained as a going concern. Selling players does not keep the company going, or maintain it as a going concern. The player sale would be part of the liquidation process.

A few thoughts from a fitful night's sleep:
Mel wanted to push FFP/P&S to the limit. He also spent significantly on items that were FFP exempt, like the academy and the infrastructure. It seemed that he wanted to use his vast wealth to drive the club into the Premier League.
That was fair enough; it was his money and his train set. Now he's walking away from the club he loves and putting its very existence in jeopardy, because he's having to put £1.5 million per month in? That is a very large u-turn. Why?

Assuming the MSD thing comes to nothing and we go into administration, we get a 12 point penalty. I believe that's fair enough. It stops clubs from using it as a relatively easy way to walk away from debts, as has happened in the past.
What I'm struggling to see the point of is a two year transfer embargo. You can't argue against an embargo whilst in administration; a club without the cash to pay its way can't be allowed to increase its costs. However, the key for the club to survive is that a buyer is found quickly. An ongoing embargo is going to make selling the club as a going concern far more difficult. Surely the embargo should be lifted as soon as the football and hmrc debts are paid and the CVA is in place? It seems to me that this EFL rule is one which could easily drive a founder member to extinction.

Finally, what we need now is a buyer. As fans, we need buyers to see our potential. Everyone knows that Rooney and the players are blameless here and deserve our support. I suspect that today's atmosphere will be excellent.
What I think would help secure the future of Derby County would be big home gates over the next couple of months. The administrators will need cash to pay the bills, otherwise the doors slam shut. But if we can pack the stadium,  it will also send a message that we are a club worth buying. So please, everyone who can, get yourselves to the next few games.

They don't get rich by being nice guys. They always crush a few along the path and become immune to their adverse impact on those trying to earn a crust.
He's worth a few hundreds mill. Do the maths, if he really cared 1.5 a month doesn't even make a dent. It's like most of us buying a round down the pub.

All this talk about retrospective retribution going around, with penalties applied to this season is rubbish. If its retrospective it needs to be applied to the season when the transgression occurred, not when the efl got its act together. And if we're in to retrospective penalties less see them for the breaches of FFP by Wolves and Leeds in their promotion season.
Personally, I'd take retrospective to the relevant season - we finished top 10 each year, failed to get promoted, so just as there were no real benefits there will be no real penalty.

Various posts refer to" the vindictive nature of the efl's actions". I would say it is worse than vindictive in that they failed to act upon information submitted to them and only raised issue when wonky 'boro started crying. Lacking any real fortitude, instead of telling said parties to go fourth, they acted. Were they (the efl) a compitent organisation, they would have and should have, challenged Derby when the first set of accounts showing this practice were submitted and nipped it in the bud.

Family? He was paid handsomely for his blood sweat and tears. His arrangement with the club was purely business. He did a job - well sometimes, less than well others - and he got paid for it. He is, by his own actions (nobody made him get in a car with a drunk driver) , incapable of doing the job for which he was being paid. Therefore he can't provide the services for which he was being paid.
Would a bricklayer get paid if he broke his arm in a car crash? No. So much as he served the club well, we shouldn't let emotion cloud what the right thing to is.
Derby County is a business. It has financial constraints applied on it. Koeghs salary is 10% of the money we can lose under FFP each year. We need that 10%. We don't need a player that can't play.
