jimtastic56 got a reaction from Premier ram in Controversial views unchallenged
Steve Mac was totally spineless in the Bobby Zamora final . He should have replaced Wisdom with Bamford as soon as they went down to 10 men . (Dunne had Martin in his pocket).

Holding our own, being hard to beat, staying clear of relegation trouble. Anything else would be a bonus.

Makes sense if a new first choice has been earmarked. Vickers is perfectly good enough back up, and he’s under contract. I would pick Wildsmith over Vickers but don’t think either are quite good enough to take us forward.

There’s some logic to that, was Stoke’s first choice keeper on loan from Leicester second half of the season but with Stoke signing Johansson and Leicester have 2/3 other keepers ahead of him maybe he’s available on the cheap 🤔

True, that does seem odd but maybe he has been crystal clear about his expectations wage-wise and DCFC and Wildsmith were so far apart in that regard that nobody was interested in going through a pretend negotiation. Also, we have been dubious about Wildsmith staying for a while, so we may have other targets lined up/earmarked and want to just crack on with securing that. The whole farce with Sheff Wednesday dragged on so long last window that we almost missed out entirely and maybe we don't want anyone to steal a march on us just because we're still discussing a dead deal with Wildsmith. Time to move on then it sounds like.
Good luck to him, he's been a good keeper for us but we have a structure and budget and anyone coming in or getting a new contract needs to fit in with that. We will need a new No1 keeper though. I don't believe that promoting our current backup is viable as I don't think he is of the quality required at Championship level.

He was apparently during last season and he turned it down. I heard a rumour that is why he was dropped randomly mid season ?(This comment is not evidence based)

Depends on your Purchasing strategy doesn't it.
DCFC now would be a lot more expensive than DCFC two years ago. Clowes has shown that under good leadership, a high can become low risk very quickly.
But don't forget - as a business, we still lose money.... As do most Football Clubs.

According to EFL rule...
“Any club wishing to re-engage a contract player whose contract is due to expire on 30 June must notify him in writing by the third Saturday in May in the final year of his contract whether or not they offer him terms of re-engagement specifying (where applicable) such terms."
That's tomorrow. By then the players will have it in black and white if they're going or can stay if they reach agreement on a new contract.
Thus far only 4 of the 23/24 season SBC sides have published their lists. 18 of the 23/24 L1 sides have published.

I agree.
Adam’s was the missing piece in the jigsaw who gave the team more presence, it took Warne far too long to realise that Bird and Hourihane were too lightweight as a pair.
I think Bird would thrive with Adam’s in the side but that’s obviously not going to happen.
We definitely need a couple of box to box midfielders with Smith a good option from the bench.
There seems to be lots of good midfielders becoming available on a free so we should be able to attract some good recruits.

No goals or pace. I'd have Adams with two technical players who can score and create. We'll need it unless we significantly improve our striking options and we can't just get Cashin to shovel it out wide in the hope of getting someone on a cross, the midfield will need to be used more.

David Clowes has made it very clear that he has a 4 year plan to get us settled in the Championship . I wouldn’t expect him to ditch that plan unless we were in trouble . We couldn’t find a buyer at a rock bottom price until DC came in . Let’s not be so quick to ditch him .
