Can’t really be too critical (I know some already have been) but penalties are always a lottery (it’s a cliche because it’s true).  A League 1 team taking a Prem team to penalties is a positive (even a weakened prem league team).  Hopefully will give them confidence.
Think the subs still show how thin a squad we have. Going to take time to build.
I suspect there would be less criticism if we’d gone down fighting 2-0 or something. Football is odd.

I was just thinking along similar lines - The 2 managers in my Derby supporting time that had the most success are Arthur Cox and Jim Smith, both (more so in the case of Smith) started in more stable circumstances than Warne and would be pilloried by some on here for our early performances under them. There are some very entitled fools on here....

Not really we missed 2 pens and a player stupidly got himself sent off if the players had managed the situations better we'd be getting carried away with how great everything is.

Quite, Holloway didn't think so, non Derby fan mates of mine don't think so yet some derby fans are adamant it's a red, "110% FFS". Odd.
More broadly, surely being a fan is being one eyed, we're ALWAYS robbed ?

Games like this are never going to be a walk in the park like some people think.

It’s what the FA Cup is all about and it’s why the TV games are picked like they are, because they know these games produce what they have today.

Todays game doesn’t reflect on what our season is so far of where it’s going. If anything, that last minute goal will do us more good than harm.

Some of our fans on twitter having a go at Warne are absolutely ridiculous.
No team would get relegated from the Championship, come back for pre season with 5 players and get anywhere near to promotion from League One. The fact we're 7th is a miracle in itself.
We don't have a right back, we have 2 wingers (Ones injured) the squad at full strength is unbelievably short. Take 5 regulars out and we're threadbare.
The game management today after going down to 10 men was so poor. But these players make such poor decisions at times, going directly against what they've been told to do.
All Warne can do is work with what we've got, which isn't a lot. Get through this month, get some of the injured players back and get to January.
We need at the very least a right back, a midfield enforcer and a winger. But I think we'll get more than that.
Clowes said himself that there will be a period of consolidation.

I feel like the BBC does a reasonable job in difficult circumstances. With a remit to cover areas not commercially viable, they output coverage of local news, minority groups, non English coverage of regional and small uk nations, educational output, children's TV, specialist output like scientific programs, and more.
Those people who suggest advert driven programming, expect more like ITV than BBC. Dreadful output driven by audience share. More love island, because vacuous idiots are cheap. Less niche output, more mainstream stuff.
As for the overpaying for talking heads, that's the market they operate in. As was mentioned elsewhere, the other channels pay far more for the on screen talent such as Ant and Dec. You might object to MacEnroe being paid handsomely, but few people can offer his kind of insight.
I'm sure the BBC waste money but the examples aren't great. Sending someone to Wimbledon from Derby? Could cost some petrol and a night in a Premier Inn. Hardly earth shattering.
I like the BBC, despite their centrist bias.

The only FOI request for this info that I could find was here:- https://pressgazette.co.uk/foi-request-reveals-the-guardian-is-most-popular-newspaper-at-the-bbc/ (pasted below), it highlights a few things, one that your description of 'massively over/under' isn't supported by facts but also how dominant right of centre reporting is in our written media.
You also refer to a common false equivalence in the Mail & the Guardian - You may or may not like the tone of the Guardian but it is a serious newspaper where the Mail, erm, isn't. I mean, it's kind of famous for its sidebar of shame isn't it.
Back (nearly) on topic though, the BBC have been in the govt crosshairs for some time, not necessarily because of any perceived political or idealogical bias (although the latter clearly pays a part with regard to their funding) but because a network that is reporting in a balance manner is clearly still going to be critical of the 2019-2022 government because, regardless of your political leanings, it did leave itself wide open to such criticism.
I dearly hope that local radio survives intact, it's really important, it is a force for good that that sits away from the forces of revenue and profit.

I'm not in receipt of any benefits but I'm happy to pay for them. The BBC and, as a slightly different example, Channel 4 and S4C make fantastic programmes that otherwise would remain inside someones head, not everything has to be driven by popularity and money, it's a fantastic thing that more obscure and niche programming still exists. The loss of local BBC stations would be such a sad thing.
