    This is a myth.
There is no such thing as a long-term guy at all but a tiny handful of clubs these days.

You say long-term, but if we are more poorly positioned after 12 months, you (or people like you) will be saying the exact same thing.

That's not a criticism, btw, just an observation.

I'm not a Warne fan or his harshest critic, but I think we have to stop convincing ourselves that it will be different next time a manager struggles because they are our long-term guy.

Warne is that long-term guy and it will only be different when we get immediate success.

We might be able to get rid if DC can underwrite the additional expense of concurrently paying two managers and two sets of backroom staff for 2 years.
Or he might be able to afford it but doesn't see the necessity for doing this.
    Or he can't afford it.
    Take your pick.

Saying that fans don't have many avenues to make their thoughts known is really unfortunate....there's this forum, there's Twitter or X, there's the recent fans forum at Pride Park, there's Instagram....
With all these avenues to be able to express themselves I do find it disappointing that certain fans can't feedback their thoughts without it descending into personal abuse which I totally agree with you on.
Says more about the "fans" then anything connected with the club.

I couldn't have worded this better myself if I'd sat down and tried to craft a response to summarise the current status quo on here.

    One defeat in 9…..
I genuinely struggle to know if there are a lot of posters who write so much tripe on here who are actually red dogs, Leeds or Leicester etc fans on the wind up
This forum was mentioned actually last week with heads in hands about the garbage that is posted (not by all but a fair few).
And as for the polls…..give me strength

There's a difference between wanting something different (aka "Better"!) and vitriolic demands for heads to be hoisted on sticks!.
How about unity?  All in it together?  Fight to the end?  Fist-pumpin' encouragement?
How about just turning away, and counting to 10 to calm the f*** down?
How about they just walk away in silent disgust, if they feel that strongly?

Even our most loyal band of travelling brothers (and sisters) don't have any divine right to dish out personal abuse to the club's hierarchy and/or employees (Which is what I am reading this morning?  No idea how true this is?)
I'd even argue that such reaction does more harm than good... to the club as a whole... but I appreciate some may argue that point.
How about I turn to these "So-called supporters" and start singing "Get out of our club" to them?
I appreciate I'd get a bloodied nose, but would I also be accused of being unfair towards them, or would I have a right to express such an opinion?

So in summary… we made one individual mistake (forsah) they capitalised and we (collins) missed a big wodge of chances to win it
    it happens … its football
keep saying it , get ourselves a better forward we’ll be flying
sadly we wont go too far with collins leading the line
No where near as bad as some make out

Rubbish! Name me another Manager who agrees who doesn’t get “prickly” if they get challenged about the way they do things? He behaves just like you!

100% agree with this. Bird is as classy a midfielder as there is in L1. Utilise him in his best role and play it on the deck. Smith too can pick a pass. Fornah, Bird and Smith should be the fulcrum of our play.
I'm not in the Warne out camp  - his signing of Nyambe and Fornah buy him extra time for me - but the overall style of play needs to improve and should be better with the relative quality of our squad compared to most in this division.

I’m not too bothered about the fact that they scored. They were always going to start scoring goals eventually and you’d have to be seriously sensitive if you think it makes us a laughing stock, I’m just disappointed we didn’t win.
Also, whilst Warne must take joint responsibility for us failing to win I fail to see how he can be completely responsible for the single incident of their goal.
Would you have still been fuming if we’d conceded a goal but run out comfortable winners?

Did we get over it within 2 years?
How long did it take for us to become massive again?
... And as for your "loooong looong past"... the past 2 years represents the most recent 1.44% of our entire existence, so some might say not that long after all, really!

That’s quite the extrapolation. I didn’t say that just conceding the goal made us a laughing stock - it’s the constant failure to meet minimum standards.

I’m still fuming that we conceded a goal to a team that has been unable to score against literally anyone else.
We’re a laughing stock and the responsibility for that lies completely with Warne.

    Ridiculous!
Results drive attendances, are we doing badly in 8th? Some griping fans on a forum will not affect Clowes, How does the loss, should it happen, of some fans compare to the cost of compensation payments if sackings happen? Get back to the real world.

"social" media (overall SM not just here) is full of "scoreboard warriors" again. Eejits going mental because we drew at Cheltenham. To put it into perspective, Bolton lost 1-3 at home to Carlisle.

More perspective. 62% possession. 17 shots to their 6. 8 on target to their 12. According to the "warriors" we were crap. In that case Cheltenham must have been awful. In reality, the game is all about goals and our luck seems to have been out. 2 NML efforts were well off target. Cash had one saved by the keeper, another blocked on the line by a defender. Collo mis-hit one giving the keeper an easy save, the one he did catch properly was straight at the keeper. On another day we'd have had more than one to show for our efforts but that's what defenders and keepers are there for, to prevent goals. We don't have a divine right to romp away with games.

The keyboard warriors also seem to have missed the fact that their other point this season came away at Pompey and they are top... add in new manager syndrome...

I was surprised Max was back on the bench following his performance at Blackpool. He started the 2nd half exceedingly well and had us encamped in their half. Never mind, PW to Cheltenham's rescue, Hourihane on and Max moved upfield and not getting the ball... CH didn't exactly set the world alight. He may be skipper but I don't think he's worthy of a start at the moment.

NML was very ineffective. He needs a rest but is now jetting off halfway round the world with his Guatemalan teammates. Following the break he needs to have some time on the bench.

Their goal? Bad choice of move by Fornah who was a mere shadow of his previous performances in a Derby shirt. A gift for their first goal of the season.

I feel for Sibley. Getting little to no game time and when he does it's never in his favoured position. Must be frustrating for the lad.

PW will have had his reasons for the starting XI and his choice of subs and positional changes. They were not the ones I would have made.

1st half showed a lack of urgency/sharpness from the Rams. 2nd half started very well until CHs introduction, IMO. That destroyed much of the momentum. Last 10 to 15 saw them utilise a massed defence and we couldn't break it down.

Still 3/4 of the season to go. The potential is there to do well. I just hope team selection is more Blackpool than Cheltenham.

I wouldn’t go as far as that but there is an unpleasant polarity developing in some places. We seem to have a bit too much of a Corbyn V Thatcher thing going on between some. If you don’t appreciate or belong to a particular camp that sees things like you do then conversation becomes pretty painful. I don’t want everyone to agree with me but there is a stridency and stubbornness in the opposition that is very one eyed and inflexible.
