trappatoni got a reaction from DCFC Kicks in Sonny Bradley
For me Cashin looks far better than Bradley head turned or not.   Bradley almost gave away a goal with his clearance and then a pull back on their player then was largely at fault for not going with the scorer of Oxford's first which came after his wayward headed clearance.  He's been a complete liability so far.

trappatoni got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Should we be patient? If so, how does it improve?
I'm coming round to the opinion that the club should start making plans beyond Warne.    This Saturday is such an important game - lose it and his job should be on the line if he can't turn it around in the following two away games.   My reasons - probably the same as many others.
    - when he came in and tried the 5 it didn't look good.   I honestly think our good run last year was more him reverting to Liam's team with a dash of directness thrown in.   When they was a wobble he threw the baby out with the bathwater - started to instill more of his principles as the solution and it made things worse.
    - I don't buy his emotional intelligence management BS.   Maybe I'm just cynical and old but I don't care if pictures of my family are in the wall at work or all that jazz.  If the team spirit is so great why does Didzy walk?   Why were the players on each others backs against Oxford?
    - his style of football is outdated.   These days even amateur teams coach stuff like playing out from the back - we just don't look to be familiar with any basic patterns of play.
    - If you listened to Darren Robinson on radio Derby early closed season all the things he said we shouldn't do - buying ex Rotherham players, relying on older free signings - we've done.   He also compared our pre season running unfavourably with the Lionesses fitness training - implying ours was outdated.   He's a guy who knows what happens in well run clubs - he clearly thinks we aren't.
    - what is the future planning?   Ok this may not be down to Warne but all our frees will be on biggish wages as established players and have zero sell on.   It's short termism writ large.   Go up this year or we are stuffed... we ain't going up this year so...
I'm pretty close to saying sack him, write off the season and bring in someone who can do a genuine job of building the club in the way Evatt is doing at Bolton.   I'm not desperate to go up IF we are at least challenging in the top 6 and playing some decent football and there are positive signs  for the future.  That should be easily achievable being the biggest club in this relatively weak division.

I wouldn't want to sit with someone banging a drum right next to me for 90+ minutes either. You can't just tell people don't sit in the south stand unless you want to go deaf.

yeah but more atmosphere generated by more singing will never physically hurt ears. nothing to do with not wanting a noisy stand. plus the drum gets laughed at

This may not be popular but I think the drum needs to go. I don't think it adds anything and more often than not the rhythm is completely off
Especially if the South Stand doesn't want it. The people in the South Stand may well want atmosphere but they draw the line at having a drum down their earholes for 90+ minutes.
Look at it the reverse way Nick, if South Standers generally don't want it, that's democracy. There's more to the stand than a bloke with a drum. Find another way to bolster the atmosphere

trappatoni got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Warne’s contract
I've read informed journalists write that some contracts do indeed get paid up pretty much in full so it's not unknown.   We were chasing Warne and persuading him to drop a division.   I mean we shouldn't be surprised at owners of football clubs handing out stupid contracts at Derby.  I'm not saying Warne and his staff will need to be paid up in full but it wouldn't surprise me if that is the case.

What about the size of the wage bill.   Weren't we the second or third highest payers last season.

I think our squad last year had enough to challenge for top 2 except for the lack of a number 9.   Even then to not make top 6 was a serious under achievement.

I believe Warne should be given time - at least until Christmas - but I didn't and still don't  believe he's the right man and I'd be surprised if he gets us promoted.   Why give him time then - simply because we are where we are and I don't claim to be infallible - I hope he proves me wrong.

First off lets forget the decent man stuff - 90% of us are decent men or women aren't we?  Being a decent man is not a qualification to manage a football team.   Is he likeable - I find him slightly annoying - all that family photos on the wall stuff or whatever he does to me would just be irrelevant BS. Not everyone is wired the same way - if I'm a player I want decent sessions, tactics that work and a manager that is straight up - if Warne provides them the rest is irrelevant.

    For me the issues are:
    - He seems wedded to his 532/352 Rotherham way of playing - he's dogmatic rather than pragmatic.   If you listen to the BBC podcast series on him he admits he's not really a tactical thinker.   I think he stumbled onto a system that worked to an extent at Rotherham and he can't now see beyond that.   Our best form last season was due to non Warne type players playing non Warne type football - it was was Rosenior's side with a dash more directness.
    - At Derby in div 1 we are going to have the ball a lot - at Rotherham he didn't.   Does Sonny Bradley look like a player comfortable being last man in possession ?
    - His transfer policy is short term.  These frees will be on biggish wages for div 1 and have no sell on value IF we can even move them on.   This squad is only getting weaker if we don't go up this year - anyone think Waghorn, Washington or Collins will be at Derby in 2 years?
    - I don't know what Clowes' budget is but we desperately need to start identifying younger talent and paying a fee with the thought we can recoup that and more in 2 years.   The issue is bigger teams won't want to buy players from a Warne style team - its certainly not a style that will attract decent fees for players.
    - Do good players want to play for Warne?  I honestly think it's a factor in McGoldrick leaving.  The guy is a footballer he doesn't want to be run into the ground.

Longer term my real worry is that Clowes is a footballing dinosaur hankering after the 80s and he's going to keep appointing managers in the same mould.  We need an innovative forward thinking owner not just a saviour.

I m not fickle but I do want to see incoming signings improving us and it’s obvious that Knight and McGoldrick moving on has taken a lot out of the side from last year.
So far Ward looks decent in an attacking sense and Elder will be a steady full back plus we generally know what Waghorn can bring and it’s the third division that we are in and a proper reserve keeper is good. Our central midfield looks ponderous and our triple central defenders have so far been completely isolated from each other and devoid of pace.
we have taken NML away from his preferred and best position attacking the right flank and he is our only threat unless opposing defenders miss their headers because we won’t be winning many in the penalty area. The lad Wilson looks tricky going forward but appears to absolutely not attempt to do any defending which will prove to be a major problem if deployed at full back
Sibley and Barkhauzen are now cast as our saviours because they can contribute when actually given the chance.
Forsyth already stars in the role of mr positive consistent.
Adding Rooney and Tompson into the starting X1 might make us look as if we can keep up with some of the opposition.
I am not fickle - let me know what I have missed so far

Oh I didn't say it had any effect on me 😀
I would add that not everything has to polarised opposites. You can criticise Warne without calling for him to be sacked. You can question our budgets without wanting to spunk £6m on Bradley Johnson. You can suggest we have bought very slow. CB without personally trying to melt him down for glue. Most people are putting together constructive criticisms and are being met with scorn and personal attacks.
The main issue is we have a manager who wants to play a high tempo pressing game and we have bought slow, ageing players to add to an already slow ageing squad.
If anyone has a convincing solution to that quandary, which involves a slow back line and a pedestrian CM supporting slow CFs in a successful and cohesive high press, I'll have more faith.
Till then I'll remain a sceptic.
