Good point. There has been no backlash about signing a striker who is unavailable for the first 3 games, as over the entire season both of them will make a massive contribution. JWZ also has huge potential and could help finance a play off push in the next couple of years.

To be fair to McClaren, he went with the 11 who took Brighton apart, but should have brought Bryson and Bamford on sooner. Second season, he had us top without the services of Thorne, but then lost Martin, Eustace and Mascarell for the rest of the season, Bent for a run of games that left us with no central strikers. Had it not been for two shabby referee performances against Brum and Wolves, we'd have easily qualified for the playoffs. His alleged flirting with Newcastle didn't help team morale, but the main factor was those injuries.

    A new interview with the man himself, still sounds very much like he’s joining, and also that he’s staying there for a bit which has been widely reported;
The move to Derby is taking time for Jacob Widell Zetterström.
    Not against the goalkeeper.
    - It feels good that it will not be an abrupt end, says Jacob Widell Zetterström.
Jacob Widell Zetterström has been on his way to Derby County for quite some time now. But Djurgården still has its goalkeeper. Tomorrow he will, as usual, guard the posts for the club he grew up in. Also in an important European qualifying match. And the goalkeeper does his best to live in the moment.
    - You don't reach this round in Europe without being a good team. So it will be a tough, exciting and above all fun match against Ilves, says Jacob Widell Zetterström.
By all accounts, you are on your way to the Derby shortly. At the same time, you must play important matches for Djurgården. How to deal with it?
    - Actually, like most other things. Life happens around you all the time, but when you go out on the field, you only focus on the match. It's the same thing now. What I have in front of me is 90 minutes of fun football with a wonderful team. You have learned over the years to focus on just that.
But now it's a little different, in that you're basically ready for another club?
    - Yes, of course, it's a different situation. But I would say that the ways of thinking are really the same. You go into this match with full focus on what lies ahead - and nothing more than what lies ahead.
What awaits are Djurgården's most important matches of the season so far. Against an attacking Ilves, Jacob Widell Zetterström may play a key role.
    - Regardless of whether you are in my seat or another seat, you can always speculate on what will happen next. If Djurgården advances from this round, Maribor or Vojvodina await. But it's not something you think about, you have full focus on the match in front of you. I don't even think any of us are really thinking about Ilves at home next week, says Widell Zetterström.
You have been in Djurgården for a long time, and now you are also getting a long farewell. Does it get extra nostalgic when it goes on over so many matches?
    - It is clear that it is special. But in a way quite nice too. It won't be so abrupt. Although there may come times in life when you have to deal with such things as well. In this case, you can almost say that there has been a weaning period. But like I said, all this time I've been trying to take one day and one game at a time.
Jacob Widell Zetterström started in Djurgården as a kid, but left the club for IFK Lidingö in his early teens. Since 2021, he has been the team's first option at the goalkeeper position. But now the stay is coming to an end.
    - It has always been a dream to be able to play in England and of course it will be incredible to be able to do it. So I don't mean anything I say now in a boring way. But I have grown up in the club and it is very familiar. I have enjoyed every day I have been here. At the same time, it will also be very cool to test the wings in a country that I have followed all my life, says Jacob Widell Zetterström.

    BREAKING NEWS...
In a sensational turn of events that has rocked the football world, Championship club Derby County have announced a swap deal that sees Conor Washington heading to the Etihad Stadium with Erling Haaland joining the Rams. Commenting on the swap, a jubilant Pep Guardiola told us, 'we've had it right oooorrrf. Haha. Wash for Erling?!?! Mugs! Ole, ole, ole, ole, we got Wash, Wash, Wash.....'
Haaland himself has been quoted as saying, 'I'm delighted to at last be joining the club I've followed since I was swinging around in the old man's nads, but can someone please tell me WTF a cob is? Also, why do they all call me duck? Are they taking the piss, or what?'
Derby manager, Paul Warne seemed philosophical about the trade saying, 'well that's football, isn't it. Obviously we wanted to keep hold of Wash but Steve 'Perfect' Pearce made the call as usual. Idiot.'
