For me at this point that is the crux of the matter and what mel Morris will be ultimately judged on,
    which is it ?
has mel as a rich fan come in and pumped his own money into the club to chase the premiership or has he somehow been building up massive debts that could cripple the club if we failed to go up ( covid not withstanding)
It’s  a mess that perhaps the pr during mels early tenure has covered up , ie club taken to the wire debt wise ,
the truth is you often only find out what people are really about when the crap hits the fan ( as always it’s us fans it hits??‍♂️), let’s hope he turns out to be a real ram to the core
could really do with somebody clarifying whether mel has been financing and risking his own doe or risking the clubs survival to chase his vision

    With ownership comes responsibility.
Now, let me make myself crystal clear, I am not kicking a guy when he’s down, I’ve gone on record posting I’d buy him a pint anytime and I stand by that.
However, he would have been more that happy to have been the recipient of the crowd’s adulation had things gone to plan. He’s not averse to a drop of hero worship, who would be ?
A big problem for Mel is he is owner/custodian of something a lot of people have an emotional investment in, some, a lifetimes commitment. If he was trying to get rid of his executive Lear jet because he fell on hard times, it would be none of our business/of no interest to us.
But this is is a commodity that has been a part of the town, then later, the city for well over a hundred years and this is where the responsibility bit comes in for me. Just because it’s all gone Pete Tong for him does not mean he should leave the club riddled with debt which was accrued on his watch. I believe it’s his duty to make the club as attractive a proposition for a reputable prospective buyer at the lowest outlay possible to him.
There is a saying down here that goes “Pay up and look big” and that’s what he really be thinking about.

Again it’s a long time ago but I kind of remember Pickering wanting said others to invest rather than refuse to invest but leverage full control on the cheap once the club was in deeper trouble , certain people managed to later act the knight on white charger role?, sure there’s plenty of complications in there and personality power struggles but my view was Pickering was treated badly considering his input over his ownership term??‍♂️

The Co-Op bank called in their loans and put the club into liquidation, it was they who sold the club for £3 to the 3 Amigo's not Lionel, I believe there was some animosity between Peter Gadsby and Lionel Pickering although that information came from one of Lionels friends so I cannot verify its authenticity. Lionel paid £1m for the club invested £10m of his own cash and got no thanks from the fans, (sound familiar) he famously went on radio Derby and said " to the moaners and whining fans "If you can do better, where's your money - and if you don't like it, go and watch Forest.”
I bet Mel would like to do something similar.

They were the group pushing the co op bank to take the club away from Lionel Pickering. The bank then sold the club to the 3 amigos for the price of a pint of @Davefavourite cider.

RamsTrust were the epitome of a local action group cliche when I dipped a toe in years ago, and I can't believe they've changed. Good luck to them, but meh.
I haven't read the letter, because it's irrelevant what they have to say. Mel Morris, who I love to bits, has had a damn good go and come up short. The club is on it's arse, and will remain so until someone stumps up to buy us. RT, the supporters club, us collectively or as individuals...we can write as many letters as we like, it won't shift the debts by a quid and it won't bring any investor a step nearer signing the contract.

I am a bit confused as to how the current board is supposed to “commit to involving supporters in future decision making” when it is quite likely we will soon have a different board.
Likewise, how can they guarantee the future of the club is secure? I don’t imagine they could absolutely guarantee that even if they were remaining in stewardship let alone when the club is being sold. Of course, hopefully they can make provisions to sell to a buyer who appears to be legitimate but not sure what more they could do in this regard?
I admit some clarity on the ticket situation would be great. People have invested their money into this and do deserve the right to know when they may get it back, even if this is currently that they do not know, it would be a bit of clarity.
It wasn’t long ago the club was being roundly mocked for the volume of club statements released.

    1. I was having a 'pop' at Jim Wheeler (not Rams Trust directly though as their main spokesman it's hard to separate the two) who claimed that all 30,000 Rams fans would have signed the letter if he'd been able to ask them....
    2. Why would I ring Radio Derby? - my view (as I've previously posted on here) is that the club will issue statements as and when they are able to - the naive view that all the club's business should be done in public says an awful lot about the intelligence of those making the demands. Just look at the hand-wringing and wailing over the Alonso bid as an example.....I genuinely hope that the next time we get any takeover news is when it's done and dusted.
    3. If you don't think Rams Trust are self-important, look at who is top of the list of 'signatories'. If their demand for a place on the board is ever met, I'm pretty sure who will be claiming the right to be that representative - and as an aside, why they are demanding a place now when any decision will immediately be invalidated by a takeover? - simply re-inforcing their old raison d'etre....
    4. We are punters who pay to watch the team - that's all. However long we've been watching or however much the club is our life-blood, we just pay to watch. We have absolutely no right to demand anything of Mel or the next owner....

Fundamentally, I don't agree with them. I'd be happy to sign a letter that said Dear Mel, please ignore those people demanding to be told stuff and focus on getting the club sorted. Cheers. Two reasons, a) That's what I want to happen, I don't feel the need to be told what's going on constantly, b) I want to keep Mel happy. Pee Mel off and we've got even more problems.... Just my opinion, some will agree, some won't but I don't claim to represent anyone.
You may be right, the fact that some of them are **** **** is irrelevant but that just adds to the fun right?

pretty much what your doing here telling fans on a forum they should be worried but not prepared give info ?,
I get your angry ,,, the point you miss by miles is that we are where we are NOW and your trying to round up a gang of pitchfork wielding fans to achieve ????

So the result is an extra ten people have the answers on the vital stuff that concerns most people but can’t really reveal to the fanbase , pretty much like mel and Stephen now ??‍♂️, we then have the scenario of people saying you would / should be worried if you knew the full picture but I/ we can’t really tell you,
I think it’s great you are concerned for the club , we all are in the main but what your expecting and asking for is totally unrealistic, that coupled with the clear fact that the owner you have the concerns about wants out as quick as he can now anyway ,
im at a total loss as to what your trying to achieve??‍♂️

You know that's the one point that I disagree with you one. We only survived relegation through the grace of God this season. Our playing squad is threadbare and inadequate. We have the threat of a transfer embargo and points deduction hanging over our heads. We are a million miles in debt as a club. We don't own the ground we play in.
Any sensible businessman would be totally put off by that. I wouldn't go anywhere near us. Morris is trying to sell the club at the worst possible time I can only reiterate. I wouldn't go near us with a shitty stick. You can blame that all on Morris but it still doesn't detract from reality. We are a crap proposition to acquire and as other posters have already stated we are in dire straits of becoming another Wigan. I don't need Morris to come and tell me all is rosy in the garden when it would be a tissue of lies. And I don't need to tell him we have mucho problems as I know that.

I agree I just don't know what you would want him to say - it seems patently obvious to the most casual of observers that we are in the kaka but do you want him to come out and say that? Especially knowing that this might then put off other would be suitors or encourage another bout of tyre kickers.
We're in the the crap I totally agree but I don't need Morris to come and out affirm what I already know.

You keep saying that you want us to come together and collectively demand answers but you won't tell us what are the questions we should be uniting behind.
    That's hardly inspiring.
Yet your highly cryptic "Give it a few days. And its not just me" suggests that you've rounded up a mob, armed them with pitchforks, and are marching on Pride Park with your set of demands.

Well no because he had been sacked and the reason we sacked him was so because we didn't have to pay his wages.
Not to mention the other costs no doubt involved and embarrassment caused. If you are going to do it, it needed to be watertight. Any employer would tell you that.
