Yes, there's been some movement and passing, but it relative to the opposition. We're playing a full strength team against Crewe.
Our tactics are so simple, its obvious how to counter it. even Crewe can do it.

@RoyMac5 what was funny about my earlier post? Are you that entrenched in your views that you genuinely cannot bring yourself to give Warne even the slightest bit of credit in isolation for tonight’s performance?
I’m not excusing the season, or the falling away towards the end of last season, but surely Warne got something right tonight?

Much better performance and not just lumping it into the box
Sonny Bradley has played well and steady and is good at passing into feet …(I actually don’t like it when Cashin constantly plays the diagonal long ball )
Washington has been really good and a mention for Hourihane …it is him dropping into the back at times which is allowing the forward movement of others
best performance of season so far for me but I now want to see us do it again this half ….don’t go long …keep doing what’s been successful …we could easily get lazy and start long balls into the box and channels but let’s see us control the half and maybe add another
well done Warne and players much better 👏🏻

Clowes has got my full backing whatever he does, but ive been a fan since 1968 and can honestly say ive never been as cant be bothered to go as i am now( .will still be there though). Never been one for sacking managers and was not a Warne fan when appointed but was willing to back him, but getting very close to wanting him gone. I think if he does get us promoted to the championship he will not take us any further, but i will be there tonight supporting my team.

    This isn’t accurate. I agree there were some other young options we could have signed for free in the summer as I was quite active in listing some of them at the time, but Warne hasn’t filled the squad with ageing journeymen as some like to claim, these are the signings we made and their age when joining. Two thirds of them being under 30 ;
    John-Jules 22
    Wilson 23
    Fornah 23
    Embleton 23
    Nyambe 25
    Ward 27
    Vickers 27
    Elder 28
    Nelson 30
    Washington 31
    Bradley 31
    Waghorn 33
During his time at Rotherham he also signed younger players like Ogbene and Barlaser when they were 22, Olusunde when he was 21, Crooks when he was 24, Harding when he was 23, Johansson when he was 21…. It links more to what @Ghost of Clough said earlier in that I think Warne has to trust that player to do the job he wants them to. There’s an improvement many would like to see with the integration of academy players, but if Warne thinks/knows they’re good enough then he will give them a chance, there is evidence he trusts younger players from both his time here and at Rotherham.
This isn’t a post defending Warne as such, more fact checking the assertion that he doesn’t use younger players.

My view is more along the lines of Warne finds it hard to trust untested players, so will avoid using them until absolutely necessary. Take Thompson as an example, who was only given a start following Bird's injury leaving just Smith and Hourihane as other CM options. Even then, instead of using him as a CM, he was shoved out on the left wing.

If we don't see some reaction of some sort very soon, then I suspect you may be right TLP.  He will know what the mood amongst the fans is only too acutely.  He was no doubt there on Saturday to witness the pitiful performance and more importantly, PW's reaction in his RD interview.  What the hell was he thinking??  Love the bloke's honesty and personality, but I fear we are only going to watch an increase in toxicity as we limp towards January and the inevitable 'picking off' of our young talent.  For their careers' sake, I think it is best for them to move on, much as it will gut me.
It's a very dispiriting time right now - and that's speaking from a fan that's been supporting DCFC for over 55 years!  I am bordering on apathetic, which is frightening for me, but the football is so uninspiring.

Well it seems that Clowes has put this one to bed for now at least because I just don't see him doing such a dramatic U-turn and he wants to do things 'properly'. Admirable and fair play to him.
I'll obviously (as usual) still turn up and back the team but I have to be honest, this season (for me at least) is really not very enjoyable - just too many frustrations and too many let downs and I'm not really getting much/any kind of match day buzz. The standard of the football, the lack of consistency and cohesion is hugely frustrating and I don't have much faith that Warne will improve that. We had statements from the club recently talking about possession-based attacking football from the academy up, but fundamentally I just don't see how this squares with Warne's approach to football.
We are where we are though I guess. As you were Paul... I'm not sure what you can come up with to improve things but by all means go for it. Go ahead, surprise me *shrug*...

I’m not precious about us being in this league for another couple of seasons. I could live with that if the football was decent and progressive, but it isn’t. It’s absolutely awful, the same thing week in week out. I want to be entertained, to watch creative exciting football, but instead I have to endure Warne’s repetitive hoofball at places like Stevenage where I spent my hard earned yet again to watch the same failings. The mate I was there with was at Shrewsbury the week before watching the same thing again. He’s going through a divorce and money is tight but he goes to matches for a bit of a break from the strain of it all. My dad has terminal cancer and like my friend watching the Rams is a break from the strain of that. This is the point I think some of Warne’s adherents fail to see; football is meant to be entertaining, but Warne’s football philosophy is sucking the life out of the club and turning a lot of Rams fans away. In an era where the cost of living dictates what people spend their money on, the club have to be careful that the unconditional backing of Warne doesn’t cost them revenue that will be badly needed at this level of football going forward.

I don’t think it matters if they’re a rookie or experienced. What matters is we have a good philosophy throughout the club. A joined up way of playing throughout all of the age groups. A philosophy that allows the fans to see a plan and see something that resembles entertainment.
Nobody expects us to breeze through each game and walk the league but we want something to get behind and something that shows there’s a long term plan for the identity of the team.

This situation is so disheartening after the togetherness and impressive support of the survival season. I have wanted Paul Warne to succeed, hoped that his football would be more exciting than Liam Roseniors’, and hoped the atmosphere would continue. Sadly none of this has been the case. I have seen glimpses of good football, but all too often it has been poor and unreflective of some of the players we have available. The responsibility for this can only lie at the managers door. The Exeter performance was better overall but the atmosphere still muted as if the majority of supporters were celebrating a win despite their own feelings that enough was enough!
On reflection I recall thinking that when Paul Warne got the job was his heart really in it…. but have supported him to this point. I do think however he now has the air of someone who feels he has made the wrong choice but is living with it, trying to put a brave face on, say the right thing. This is not good enough for Derby County we need to be playing football we are proud of and a manager who can provide this.

I'll just do a direct copy of what I said on another forum, can't be arsed to re-word it....
That's us set back another 6 months at least then, maybe longer depending on what we actually do in the transfer window. His initial appointment had already delayed our progress by 1.5 - 2 years.
Basically he's failed to do his job properly with a budget "good enough for promotion" bur rather than face up to it having been an error to appoint him we're going to waste further valuable resources by shoving them in his direction, allowing him to make it even more difficult for whoever inevitably ends up taking over from him to build their own team or change to a better style of play.

"As he says, it's a new experience for him to face criticism from the fans but in his media interviews he simply appears to have no answers as to how to remedy the situation. He seems confused in his leadership and consequently both the players and fans are confused, leaving us rudderless on the field."
Sorry I don't believe Warne hasn't faced fan criticism before now. I'm not at all confused, it is quite clear Warne isn't up to the job and should have his contract terminated.
"David Clowes is not just the owner but also an avid lifelong fan and for that he is probably just as confused, worried and disappointed at the moment as many of us."
I'd hope he was a better businessman and not be other than disappointed with how things have gone. Lets hope he adjusts his aim accordingly and finds a new manager asap.
