    Hey all,

We've got a great new interview out now on the SBW Patreon with Gary Rowett, in which he talks to us about:
    - Taking over at Derby from Steve McClaren and his initial assessment of the squad.
    - The 17/18 season, the post-Christmas slump, and failing in the playoffs.
    - Leaving for Stoke that summer and seeing *those* snakes in the away end at Stoke.
    - His thoughts on Will Hughes, Chris Martin... and Ikechi Anya.

You can join the SBW Patreon from as little as £3 a month to watch this 45-minute interview (part 2 coming soon), along with all our other bonus podcasts. You can even watch it for free if you sign up for a 7 day free trial.

It's a good chat, and he's fundamentally a decent guy who gave us 1hr 30 minutes of his time (though it probably helps that he's unemployed).

Days after we thought Warne's Rams had turned a corner with their impressive win over Barnsley, Derby embarrass themselves in the FA Cup, losing 3-1 at home to League Two Crewe Alexandra, in our first FA Cup First Round exit in nearly 30 years.
Chris, Cutch and Anton attempt to decipher Derby's ongoing inconsistency, but heap praise on Kane Wilson and James Collins for their recent performances.

  4. Hey all, we've got a new podcast out:

Recorded live from the away end, join Richard Cutcher and Tom Martin for an audio adventure in deepest Cheshire, as Warne's Rams travel to Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the FA Cup. For Derby, a chance to gain confidence, score goals, put in a mood-boosting away performance and get ourselves in the hat for round two.
There's impressive buildings, chicken, six hours on a train, a late comeback, and plenty to ponder as Derby scrape a replay... just.

  5. Hey everyone - our new podcast is out now.

Paul Warne manages the mother of all 'must win' victories, as a routine 2-0 triumph over a limited Exeter City side eases the pressure on his job and lessens the toxicity around Pride Park temporarily.
Chris, Richard and Anton deliver an on-the-whistle reaction to Derby's 6th league win of the campaign and hail important goals for Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Conor Washington, before asking if the latest victory really taught us much about the Rams' on-off promotion chances.
There's also a wider discussion on Paul Warne's future, whether a different manager could produce better results from the same squad and, crucially, whether SBW is 'Warne In',  or 'Warne Out'.

A relatively comfortable 2-1 away win in the Papa John's EFL Trophy makes it seven games unbeaten for Derby County... so why does it feel like our season is still to get going? Chris is joined by Ollie Wright (@derbycountyblog) and debutant Phil Hile to assess the Blackpool win, Cheltenham draw, and Notts County victory, where the 'Sibley Enigma' is raised again - will he ever nail down a long term starting place under Paul Warne?
The panel also talk the return of Didzy, ex-Rams who got bad receptions, and the chaotic decision by Birmingham City to appoint Wayne Rooney as manager.

    And remember folks...

Etsy Shop owners rely heavily on favourable reviews for other potential customers to take note of, so if you've any positive comments to make after purchasing, don't just limit them to these pages!

    😉👍

Yeah I'd love this - it would be great if those who have received beer mats (and are happy with them) could post an Etsy review, thank you.

I'm reliably informed that Etsy doesn't let you post review for a few days after you've got your item... so maybe a task for this weekend when Derby aren't playing!

    Arrived just now.

Top quality print, really clear. The mats themselves sturdy.

I know it states in on the etsy listing but thought I'd reiterate that they are double sided (same print both sides, not something 'lesser' on the back)

No sign of needing any extra postage paying.

Brilliant! Glad to hear they arrived OK, and that you like them. 👍👌

  9. Thanks for all the great feedback! It's been quite the weekend trying to keep up with these orders.

A *small* issue we might have with the 'Complete' sets. I weighed them at exactly 100g - the exact maximum weight for a 'large letter' in the UK... but when weighing a couple of international ones at the post office, they reckoned it was 104g - so there's a small chance some people may have to make up the postage, if Royal Mail are real jobsworths about it.

If that does happen to any of you, I'll ofcourse refund any extra postage you have to pay.

Sorry in advance - I'm new to this and learning as I go....!

As a result - from here on in, the 'Complete' collection will now NOT feature the Carbonari beer mat (to make sure it's definitely under 100g).

  10. Hey everyone

We've recently released two sets of unique Derby County beer mats - and they're now available to buy on the SBW Etsy store.

Hope you like them - let me know if you have any questions about them.

    They're priced as:
    £9.95 for one set
    £14.95 for both sets.

Both prices include first class UK delivery.

  11. Hey all, our latest episode is out now.

    https://traffic.megaphone.fm/COMG4266289695.mp3?updated=1696228566

As Derby trudge to another winless - if slightly more encouraging - result at Pride Park, Chris, Cutch and Anton ask why Derby are still finding it such hard going at home compared to our very strong start away. We give praise to the returning Tom Barkhuizen, but question why the Rams are struggling in front of goal given the number of crosses being thrown in the box.
Where are we on Derby's promotion chances nearly 10 games into the league season? With two contrasting but challenging away games coming up, the SBW team disc
uss our season ambitions. Also, Cutch tells about a bizarre dream he had, and there's a triumphant return for 'Who Ram I?'

    1.thumb.jpg.949f0e54c0e48c002b51fa36102c14ce.jpg

  12. The SBW panel dissect a frustrating, tepid display against playoff rivals Portsmouth, which saw James Collins give Derby sight of an undeserved 1-0 win, before Pompey equalised in injury time. Just what is it about this current Rams side which has bred such negative feedback, despite a relatively decent start to the season? Chris, Blake and Cutch analyse Paul Warne's playing style and ponder if our play will be any more entertaining or effective in upcoming games against Carlisle and Cambridge.

There's also the return of 'Guess The XI', and SBW asks a long-overdue question: 'Where next for Billy Davies?'

  13. Hey all - a bit of light DCFC podcast listening to get you through the remainder of the international week.

No... this has nothing to do with the French club Tyrone Mears climbed through a window to go play for, but is instead us chatting to the brilliant Derby five-piece indie band 'Marseille', who are gaining fans up and down the country.

Four of them are also massive Rams fans, so lead singer Will joined us on the pod to talk Derby and music.

Here's a clip from the pod:

  14. Hey all - SBW Ep.164 is out now to get you through the week....!

Cutch, Tom and Blake reflect on a frustrating, yet-somehow-inevitable 2-1 defeat at Bolton's Toughsheet Stadium, in which the Rams scored against the run of play, only to concede twice thanks to a combination of defensive calamity and odd officiating.
With August now out the way, SBW also looks at the results of Paul Warne's full summer transfer window as Rams boss and awards marks out of 10. There's discussion too on Sonny Bradley's terrible start to life at Derby, and we ask - should Derby have done more to get a deal done for Eiran Cashin?

  15. Paul Warne's Rams were booed off in their opening Pride Park fixtures before a morale-boosting, much-needed victory over Fleetwood Town at the weekend. Chris, Tom and Cutch assess the defensive calamities against Oxford United and Blackpool, before breathing a big sigh of relief as Martyn Waghorn's second goal in as many games made it two wins from four in League One.

We also assess exactly what's needed to make a defensive three at the back successful - and what Derby need to do to improve. There's chat too on the possibly-departing Eiran Cashin, his value, and whether we'd be able to replace him, and a collective facepalm at Derby's early injury crisis, with Max Bird, Joe Ward and Kane Wilson all sidelined for at least two months.

  16. Slightly later than usual as I've been a bit ill...

    https://traffic.megaphone.fm/COMG2735555033.mp3?updated=1691350052

Chris and Blake are joined by Chris Smith as Derby's 23/24 season opener ends with disappointment in a home defeat to Wigan Athletic. The SBW panel discuss the errors which undermined the Rams' intense pressing, why the defeat 'wasn't catastrophic', and positives on show from debutants.

There's also discussion on the likely arrival of more firepower - which one of Jordan Rhodes, Martyn Waghorn or Michael Smith would add the most to the current Derby line-up... and which one is most likely to sign? We also lament the possible exit of Max Bird - can the Rams justify selling one of their prized academy assets and mainstays in the midfield?

We also talk about the heartwarming Korean Lee, the Rams-obsessed South Korean student who had the time of his life in the East Midlands this weekend on his first ever trip to the UK.

Audio volume on streaming platforms over the past few pods is a bit all over the place. Maybe try and turn down the guests or others when doing remotely so is all at one set level, blows your head off at one point then dead quiet the next

Contents great, keep it up 👍

Appreciate that - we normally take a lot of care with the levels in the edit, but mistakes can creep in. We’ll pay extra attention to it. 👍

  18. Hey all - we've done ANOTHER season preview pod - this time roping in no less than 4 rival fans onto the same recording to look ahead to the League One campaign.

With the season upon us, Richard Cutcher chaired a podcast panel with four other opposition fans from around the division, to gauge the mood as the Rams' rivals rate their own promotion chances, as well as who they're tipping to be the league's top goalscorer, which manager is under the most pressure... and who'll finish in the top two.

We were joined by James Jarvis from the 'Lion of Vienna' Bolton Wanderers podcast, Tracey Martin from Barnsley's 'Red All Over', Ben Thomas from 'The Tilehurst End' Reading FC pod, and broadcaster Jake Smith, from Portsmouth's Express FM, for the Pompey perspective.
