When players were not pretentious about their name. Payers born James were either Jim (Montgomery) or Jimmy (Greaves)
David was Dave (Mackay) Michael, Mick (Doyle) And so on, call Beckham Dave and he’d probably throw a fit. ?

I miss the times that players were still in the tunnel and they were more concerned about the game ahead than their hair and appearance.

Two of my memories of Star Soccer are, the Beer at Home Means Davenports adverts before or during the programme and the disability cars around the pitch whenever Coventry City featured from Highfield Road.
Going to post a picture of one so the young ‘uns can see what those people had to put up with back then.

Before match got talking to a Liverpool fan, teacher I remember. We had a very social chat. Kickoff; he instantly turns into some kind of psychco. Half time, bit wary of him by now, but we had a civilised discussion about the game and the Refs lack of parents. Second half repeat of the first. Think we must have been winning as I remember him having a total meltdown.
I moved well away!
Popside pen was quite dangerous at times mainly from sharpened pennies. Stuff also got dropped from the Ley stand above us.

Set off for work on Saturday morning... M1 south, heading for Toddington... discuss this afternoon's season opener away to Chelsea... Shall we, Shan't we... Drive straight on past our junction, make up some baloney about car trouble... No work today... head for Stamford Bridge, lunch & Pint, cash on the gate, even for away fans... Job's a good 'un!  ?

I thought it was the other way round. My bad!

Match Of The Day when it was the only way you could see top level football - it seemed to mean a lot more than the wall-to-wall SKY coverage of today.
Reading newspapers when football reporting did just that - actually reported on the match itself without all the side issues we see these days.
 

Not so much for us but I miss fans being able to celebrate a goal when it’s scored... not 84 years afterwards when VAR has finally decided it was a goal.

Blimey 6 of those 7 played for Derby or Forest or both. How times have shifted.

Watching the entirety of an important game on Ceefax when you were outside the Radio Derby catchment area.

Wingers who go past players and put in crosses to two strikers rather than one and don't spend half a game doing the full backs job.  Full backs who do there defending rather than trying to be wingers and not being able to cross.
