Got a feeling that in the not too distant future both Knight and Bird will be plying their trade in the Premier League, obviously not with Brizzle, both are class acts, both gave their all for the Rams, wishing them all the very best for their futures , they are and will be missed here at PP

While I’m disappointed he’s left, it was a fantastic ending to his time as a Derby player. Opening the scoring, getting the appreciation from the crowd when he went off, then winning promotion back to the lowest level where we should be.

I agree. I think Max just felt it was time for a new challenge in a new place. The fact he agreed to a deal that would have been less financially favourable to him than if he'd simply run his contract down so that the club could agree a deal that worked for us is a tribute to his character.

Best season in return of goals and assists ever in Birds career. I think he will probably hope Bristol adapt a a style like Warnes, rather than some of the others he has had to play under 😏

If we rebuild our first team the way we have with our academy we’ll be just fine! Brilliant job by all

U18s currently beating Liverpool 1-0 in the final game of the season. 30 mins played.
Wheeldon scored in the 10th minute, assisted by Gough.
    A win means we'll finish 4th.

I’m with you there. Big fan of Bird as a player and think it’s a shame he’s gone, but sort of understand the circumstance. Really nice touch watching that back, wish him all the best, apart from when he plays us 😉

Really going to miss him as a player & like Will Hughes, will always be bittersweet watching him play in future.
Class act on & off the field. He'll find his way to the top level before too long.

I wonder if he had the decision to make now, whether he’d still go? He might have wanted a fresh start no matter what, but Bristol City now looks like nothing more than a sidewards step.
If we get the recruitment right then we should be able to finish above teams like Bristol City.

Bye Max, all the best lad, you did us proud at the end and throughout your Derby career.
Sad to see you in Robins shirt but all good things come to an end, but so good your career with us ends with a defining moment, on your 200th appearance and final game.
Fitting end, once a Ram 🐏

Fortunately, we beat 22 League 1 clubs in the only metric that matters.
And yet, here we are again having a debate about Warne's coaching ability one week after those scenes against Carlisle......

Bit of a contradiction there Bris. First, you describe a big part of tactics and in the next sentence, you dismiss it.
    To answer the original question:
I'm not sure if talking only about Warne is fair as coaching is strongly a team effort.
I've seen Warneball being called physical, so why did he have a midfield of Hourihane and Bird for about half of the season? Or that Warneball is putting crosses in? What kind of tactics would you choose if you had Collins upfront? Crosses maybe? Or the other way around, did Didzy score countless goals because we put a lot of crosses in? Nope, we played to his strengths. If I'd describe Warneball to an outsider, I'd call it pragmatic, fluid, and mixable while using our strengths and making the most of our opponent's weaknesses. Attention to detail is a strength when we talk about football management.
Just to highlight how fluid our tactics are: I've seen us defending with 5-3-2, 5-4-1, 4-5-1, 4-4-1-1 all in the same game. Well, we all have because it happened often when Bradley was brought on.
I think he has only two aims when setting his tactics. Firstly, how to get the most out of the striker (how much Didzy, Waggy, Collins, and Gayle have scored, I think he's got that right). The second aim is how to help our keeper to keep a clean sheet. (The least goals conceded in EFL is some achievement). If these two are not about tactics, then what is? And tactics need coaching. With confidence and some experience, I claim that is not an easy part of coaching.
So, tactics are a massive part of coaching and they have excelled. Another would be increasing the player's ability and that's tougher to measure. I haven't seen as fit team as the current one is in ages and it's part of improving the player's ability. Yes, it may have caused some injuries, but that's football. Also, they managed to teach Sibley to play as LWB. On the first try, he was horrible at it but played okay as fullback when he had a player in front of him. It's a testament to Sibbo and the coaching team, and during the run-in, his performances as LWB turned out to be one of the developmental highlights.
It'll sure be an interesting summer ahead. Will we build a midfield like Hourihane-Bird or Adams-Smith-Thommo? They don't have much in common, but the question is, will they continue to be the ones who'll be sacrificed when we aim to be at our best in both boxes?
I think Warne has shown to be an excellent manager, who seems to be able to build a bunch of individuals into a cohesive group and I really appreciate that. At the same time, my personal preference would be much sexier, quick short-passing champagne football. Maybe it'll come when we have the players for it.

The football hasn't been too impressive at times, but getting four promotions from League One absolutely is.
He's managed to get us up on a shoestring budget with a squad debilitated by injuries. We could have been stuck down in this division for years.
I appreciate people have an issue with the football that's been played on the pitch at times - I am one of these - but you cannot tell me that what he's achieved at this less isn't impressive.

I'm working my way through the highlights from every game at the moment - it's amazing how everyone does something through the season. Fornah's great run and cutback to NML for the late winner against Bristol Rovers (getting us 2 extra points), Wash's goals against Burton, Northampton and Exeter, Bark's scoring glut over Christmas (4 goals), TJJ bagging 3 points against Port Vale, Gayle scoring 3 in 5 and netting us 9 points, Thommo's goal against Oxford helping turn around a 0-2 deficit....
