Enjoy the moment and have some faith

the guys just got us promoted with a record points total having still not had a window thats not been hampered by an embargo or strict business plan

Hopefully a few on here might have learnt a lesson in being patient and not having a meltdown at the first sign of trouble

    come on u mother f****** rams !!!!

Agree 100%! I'm old enough to remember 1986 and scraping out of the third division v Rotherham.. I would never in my wildest dreams believe that we were going to smash the league above and get a second successive promotion. And so next season I fully expect us to be in with a chance of something similar. Am I bonkers thinking that? Probably!

An old friend who lived on Meadow Lane Chadd was dating BCs Daughter(Elizabeth)she was a bit of a rebel in them days, Dad wasn't impressed as there was a big age difference.

BC and my mate ended up having fisticuffs on my mates front garden, The story hit the News of the World, He made a few bob, We weren't to impressed with him selling the story...he soon bailed from Chadd...never to be seen again by us 🤷‍♂️

Yep I heard that darling daughter Elizabeth was a bit "Wild" back in the day! Lots of stories around town..a bit of a handful!

Is he any less fit than Curtis was in that crucial last game against Sheff Wednesday?

Personally I doubt he'll be on the bench, be surprised  if TJJ was either despitecomments on the training pitch we have a strong bench as it is, if we start the same as last week then Barks, Bird, Hourihane, Waghorn,  CBT & Washington there's no room for either a semi fit Gayle or TJJ, although if fit I'd have both to replace Wash and Wag

And we all know how that ended up.!

Surely the fairest way would be (appologies if it's already been proposed):

    3rd Pos'n - Straight to PO final v winner of semi-final

    4th Pos'n - single home Semi-final v winner of 5th v 6th

    5th Pos'n - single home game v 6th Pos'n

Haven't you ever noticed how it's done in the National League?

Why should a team that's spent the whole season proving they're not up to playing in the division above get a chance for a reprieve in a one off match? It's also just got the absolute worst vibes for hope, ambition, joy. Just hate the idea. So PL will probably implement it.

    My preference would be:

3rd play 4th at home - winner is finalist. Loser plays winner of 5/6 at home.

5th play 6th at home - winner plays loser of 3v4 away.

Winner of that match goes to the final.

I like it because each place up you finish gives an advantage.

3rd has 2 shots at making the final, both at home.

4th has 2 shots at it, second of those at home.

5th has to win 2 games to get to the final, but the first is at home.

6th has to win 2 away games to make the final.

Final because it's a good money spinner. The games to get there are not two legs.

It's still balls because we all know top 3 should go up by right, but the entertainment value of the play offs is a good thing overall.

As already mentioned your proposal is virtually copied and pasted from the National League rule book.Only two divisions below Derby County.

Playing the team that finished third bottom in the league above wouldn’t prove you are capable of playing in the league above. It would just prove that in a one off match (or two if over two legs) you might be able to complete with the players you currently have (that might well change if you’re promoted) against a team that weren’t necessarily good enough themselves.

I know the current system can be harsh on the team finishing third but I think it’s OK. It’s also not just about the football league making more money. Don’t the clubs involved make something out of it as well? but, more importantly, it keeps the season alive longer for the fans of more clubs.

As other have suggested, the only thing I’d consider changing is to give the higher finishing teams more of an advantage. Maybe the semi’s only played over one leg (at the venue of the team finishing highest). Or:

3rd place go straight through to the final.

QF: 4th v 7th (one off game at 4th placed ground)

QF: 5th v 6th (one off game at 5th placed ground)

SF: Winners of the above play each other also in a one off game at the venue of the team that finished highest to earn a place in the final.

Final at Wembley. I know the team finishing third wouldn’t have home advantage but I think playing it at Wembley is important in order to make it a special occasion (or horrible day out if you lose 😀).

What you've put forward as an idea to make playoffs fairer is already the case in the National league and leagues below.Virtually to the letter. Apart from only the team finishing top gets automatically promoted.

I do like this. The one potential downside is the gap without a fixture for the team who finished third. Sure, they would be more rested but potentially not as match sharp.

This is exactly how the playoffs are implemented in the National League and many leagues below. Its a great way of rewarding the higher placed teams..no idea why the EFL don't do something similar.

I've been saying that this should happen for many years. It has so many advantages over the current unfair system.

It rewards every single place from third to sixth, with each place having a better chance of promotion than the place behind.

It will help reduce the likelyhood of dead rubber games where a team can rest players like last night.

It maintains the spirit and excitement of the playoffs in every game, as they're all sudden death, whereas now there is an anti climax at the end of the first legs.

I cannot understand why this format hasn't even been trialled for one season.

...well that's what happens in the National League!

Love how after we've just won that people are already working out what we'd have to do to not go up! Blimey - talk about glass half full.  We get at least a point and we're up (and we're playing Carlisle ffs). Let's focus on that?  Not suggesting it will be a walkover, but I reckon if you said a few weeks ago that all we'd need to do is draw at home on the last day of the season against the bottom club, we'd be OK with that.

Especially with Simmo on the opposition bench! He'd want to do us a favour... wouldn't he?

  10. It's absolutely beyond belief that the 3 high flyers in the Championship.. desperate to return to the promised land.. Leicester Leeds and Ipswich have in their last two games ..six matches in total..haven't scored a single goal between them! Leeds in particular have managed only one point from the last nine available..what's shame!

OK, please forgive my ignorance as I thought handball outside the area was a red card. In any case it would have been harsh and I think the ref was right in allowing for the conditions rather than see it as a deliberate act.

As far as I know a goalkeeper handling the ball outside the penalty area is  absolutely no different to any other outfield player handling outside the area. Its just handball! I don't think there's specific rules for goalkeepers.

I don't think at any stage they have claimed to support Derby? I've always assumed it's just someone from another club enjoying a bit of wummery.

In an earlier post he/she said "WE scored two goals"...still think there's wummery involved.

Can't be complacent here. Put our metaphorical boot on their throat.

But main thing is not to pick up any more fluffing injuries.....

The main thing in my opinion is to bring home 3 points. I'd rather win 2-0 and pick up an injury than lose 2-0 with no injuries.

  14. Phew! That narrow win absolutely needed seeing as all the others in contention won also.Thought we were very slack once Reading red card.Ref had massive impact on that result. Vital match now v Bolton they've closed the gap on the goal difference...I'll settle for a similar ref and result on Satday!
