Exactly..  but the problem is, Warne has gone all out to try and force us to play the system he likes, unfortunately for him, we aren't Rotherham and it just doesn't cut it. We should of signed a proven target man/striker and built around that. Right now, we are literally relying on out RWB to provide our only service, it gets predictable, even in league 1.

You could see Oxford knew exactly what we were going to do from the 1st minute. They doubled up on our RWB and put 2 or 3 players between the cross and the goal to block it. After that our entire game plan disappeared, that's all they had to do.

Warne "Oxford might have just had better players than us".

Derby County, 2023. Get him out.

I can't think of any positive reason for saying that. Similar to his comments after Blackpool about players being distracted by transfer offers. If anything it just puts players off playing for you. He said himself he wants players who would be his mates.

(By the way, the Blackpool Warne kept saying were Championship quality couldn't beat Port Vale at home tonight)

We shouldn't of signed Waggy or Washington imo. 1 of them maybe, but we needed a first choice striker. A statement. As much as they might run through walls for us, it's not that we need. We need a point to our attack.

I'm not sure what any striker could do in the game today. The majority of the game involved scrappy head tennis around the centre circle, and then deep or blocked crosses from almost exclusively the RWB position. What would a new 1st choice striker be able to do? We could sign someone who can hold the ball up, but the only player who'd be near them would be NML as we're playing no other attackers.

Exactly. Warne can say "I don't really have to sell the club to players.. it sells itself..  but if I don't think the player will be my mate, I don't want to sign him"

He used to make tongue in cheek comments about DM after he scored, along the lines of, "Yeah he did well but I don't like to tell him that" - why not? Jokes or not, I just feel like Warne doesn't like the individually brilliant players and just likes 11 mercenaries.

I think the size of the club is a negative if anything currently, certainly not selling point. Being booed by 25,000+ every other week, playing that style can't be fun for any player.

Honestly, Didzys ability was probably above Warnes understanding, he just went with it. I don't think he's ever managed a player remotely similar to Didzy. Warne not telling him how good he was might be a way of trying to keep some authority and hide the fact he was carrying everyone, including Warne, a lot last season.

How on earth did we sign the likes of Mcgoldrick last year for free and on minimal wages, yet this season, even with a budget, we avoided signing a striker capable of achieving anything close to what DM produced?

Collins IS NOT a first choice striker. I don't care how many times he crops up with a goal, he offers northing else to the team which leads to us being 1 dimensional. Ball out to the right, cross, clear. Ball out to the right, cross, clear. What happened to the silky football we used to play?

Really hope drastic changes are made because this isn't it, and I'm a Warne fan

Didzy, Hourihane and Roberts were all signed by Rosenior. The club had nothing to do with it.

Why would any potential signings choose us over another club when we play such horrible football?

I remember him playing there Plymouth away last season where he scored.

Also, in Warne's 5-3-2 there is nowhere else to get him in the team apart from maybe at RWB. We have Ward there now though and NML isn't really goood enough defensivly to play that

Is it a 5-3-2? Isn't it 3-5-3? would it be that difficult to just change from two strikers and a CAM to one striker and two wingers?

it's not 1 league game though is it, he's had about 50.

Apart from the initial 'bounce' when he first came in (which nearly all teams get with a new manager), we have just gradually got worse and worse. Even though he is adding more of 'his' players every window, we are still getting worse...

From WhoScored, it was largely attack against defence. Sadly their defence won out:

Our player with the most guile and technique in the box was Forsyth, and that's not good enough. I'd say this is why we need Billy Sharp or Jordan Rhodes or, dare I say it but why not after that performance, Chris Martin. Martyn Waghorn has no guile in the box.

If it wasn't Chris Martin, and you just looked at the data, you'd say he was one of the best available out there in terms of free agents. If he's dropping down to L1 anyway, why not? We lack his sort of intelligence up top. He would have buried that chance Collins had early on.

Id say zero chance. They paid a piddly little fine to the EFL and id guess that means case closed as far as those excellent administrators are concerned

It is just true then; if the gamble pays off, they get away with it. It rewards owners being reckless. I annoys me specifically with Leicester because no one ever seems to mention it. I've not heard Gary Lineker mention it once.
