What is more interesting is the fact the EFL are trying their hardest to push through a salary cap, conveniently at a time when we have been relegated at their hands.
    Funny that.

League One doesn't operate FFP like the Championship does. Instead of Profit and Sustainability (P&S) rules clubs operate under the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) which restricts salaries to 60% of the turnover. Given that Derby would have one of the largest turnovers in the division (probably the largest if Sunderland go up) and that all of our high earners will have gone (most already have), I think it gives the management team some scope to build a very competitive squad around the talented young players on our books.
Of course some of our best players will be sold (or released), but I don't think it will be the clear out some might imagine.
And, as I have said before, League One is just the same old circus but with new towns in which to pitch the big top. After all, the mere act of going to the football each week is far more important than the football you are going to! Otherwise we'd all be Man City fans.

And many can see the real possibility still of our club going out of existence. So compared to that yes being in league one is a fantasy for many who can also remember the great time that followed our relegation to the third tier last time.

The Derby County fantasy of playing in League 1 just so you can get to go to "proper football grounds" is very strange. Honestly blows my mind that anyone could think of anything positive to playing League 1 football.
Why aren't we angry that this has happened to our club?
We've slated past players for being "spineless". Our fans seem just the same, we've just rolled over and let the people who have done this walk out the front door with a goody bag.

Tap into the fighting spirit of the 2007/8 season. Every match was one where we all knew we were fighting above our weight and would inevitably lose but the support was recognized as the best in the Premiership by other clubs fans that year. 32000 averaged every home game then. Anything over 20000 this time (taking into account covid etc..) would be marvellous. Haven't given up hope yet as am an eternal optimist. Strangely looking forward to next season as if in Div. 1 we will be playing the majority of the games at the proper time Saturday 3pm!!! UTR

Having empathy for Mel is not the same as being 'pro-Morris'. Even Mel's most ardent supporters, a faction whose numbers diminish by the day, would admit he has ducked up royally. I retain some sympathy for the man, but that does not infer I'm blind to his failings. This isn't a binary assessment and in the view of many, the EFL have more than amply played their part.
Once this 'process' is completed, I've little doubt that the truth will out and even less doubt that it will paint either Mel or the EFL in anything close to a favourable light. I'm not blind to Mel's part in this debacle, nor do I believe for one moment that those criticising the EFL are either.

    Nah, I'm not having this.
We were told we were right on the line after most of the extravagant spending. Every penny counted.
Derby fans did not encourage gambling, did not encourage spending what Mel could not afford or have the details on wages and fees paid. There is no blame on Derby fans for that.

This is fotball, It's what supporters do, We're not bothered where the loot comes from...well some are, As long as the player we sign can do what they were bought to do, As long as we get promoted, As long as we can stay in the Premier League then job done.
Newcastle/Burnley as an example, Newcastle were warned of the ownership who bought them, Were they bothered...i'd guess a huge majority wouldn't give a monkeys, Burnley taken over by a new owner who quickley borrowed the cash and put it down as a loan for Burnley...So Burnley bought Burnley.
Those who foresaw the calamaty spoke up, Posted, Complained...but still turned up in numbers, MM rolled the dice, Loved the popularity, Went to away games where he had his photo taken with adoring fans, Bought scarves for us, Coffee, Flags, I'm not going to fully blame him, He kept chucking money at something he thought would make him the most popular man in Derby...instead Children are told stories at bedtime about a man who would be King...but failed.

I think that's a bad idea. This is a time where we need to show potential owners, players, coaches, staff what a club we could be, what our potential is. This isn't a the to take a backward step.

Overall debt has not been stated, but will be published within the next 2 weeks with Companies House (they had 8 weeks from data of Admin to produce Creditors Report).
Football debts have to be paid in full and HMRC are preferential creditor for most of their debt.
Intention is to pay 25p in the £1 to remaining creditors, they are negotiating with HMRC on how much they would be prepared to accept (when alternative is nothing if club is liquidated).
Overall figures have not been agreed, so not stated - hence why there are no bids on the table yet (as they don't know how much they would be spending, and what they would get)..

Actually lots of clubs have twisted the rules and indeed some unlike Derby have broken them.

and also actually not every other club made it through the pandemic, Wigan has .

    Is that the only difference?
So did every other club lose £20m?
And what about every other club receiving an £8m loan from the EFL?
I'm not saying MM is blameless here, he is the major factor behind our financial position BUT to say he is the only factor is short sighted and quite frankly naive.
