Not sure that's strictly true. I suspect there is an acceptance of the liability and commitment to pay it off, as per the payment schedules.

Football debts were included in the whole cost of exiting administration but that may still have included committed future payments rather being settled by one very large cheque.

Anything due will have been paid. Anything still due (because of Mel’s ludicrous set up of transfer fees) will have been factored into the budget. Neither will take up any money received for Knight and Bielik.

Nobody’s mentioned in the discussion about spending incoming fees from Knight and Bielik that we still owe Arsenal some dosh, how much and how it is structured we probably won’t get to know.

That’s literally been mentioned about 1000 times over the last year. It was paid off when we left admin.

Man Utd and Brighton have gone with this approach for a number of years.

Whilst he is primarily a CM, he's also very versatile and will cover pretty much every position on the pitch - CB tonight and no doubt CF throughout the season.

Considering the age of our U21 squad, it'll be good to have leadership, experience, and a bit of muscle to the team.

    Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right.

Bradley Johnson at CB or up front sounds like a recipe for disaster. Do agree about the U21 squad needing serious improvement though after last year, and that has to come from external signings. So I can see the logic.

  4. Very unexpected appointment. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the whole player/coach thing as a whole - think you should focus on one or the other (remember Rooney….). Also takes up a place in the U21 team that an actual young prospect could fill.

That said, I do like Bradley Johnson. Thought he was harshly treated by our fans because of his vastly inflated price tag. He actually did a lot for the club in his 4 years here - always gave his all on the pitch and seemed to genuinely love the club. If he can translate that passion and work rate to the young players then it can only be a good thing. Welcome home Bradley!

You're like a jinx. Keep talking!

I wouldn’t count Conor “no goals” Washington… much as I think he could actually be quite useful, he ain’t bringing the goals we’re missing.

Well actually there was an uplift wasnt there…. Quite an epic one which at one point had us all dreaming of catching the running away with it top 2

but then the toils of having the smallest squad in the league took its toll

funny what people chose to ignore and remember

Which Warne is actively choosing to maintain this season

  7. That’s so near perfection. Love the retro markings on the sleeves, and the pattern on the threads looks really nice too. Sponsor looks very smart - probably would’ve looked a bit better all in black, but the colours aren’t too offensive.

Only thing that makes it a 4 rather than a 5 is that collar. What is it with asymmetry on football shirts at the moment? Really triggers my OCD

Would any of the following players, have significantly improved our clubs attacking line ...

    Josh Gordon (Barrow) to Burton,

    Cole Stockton (Morecambe) to Burton,

    Danny Mayor (Plymouth) to Fleetwood,

    Reeco Hackett-Fairchild (Portsmouth) to Lincoln,

    Christian Saydee (Bournemouth) to Portsmouth,

    Conor Shaughnessy (Burton) to Portsmouth,

    Anthony Scully (Wigan) to Portsmouth,

Dan Agyei (Crewe) to Leyton Orient,

Ethan Galbraith (Man United) to Leyton Orient,

Max Sanders (Lincoln) to Leyton Orient,

    Alistair Smith (Sutton) to Lincoln.

    Whytte to Portsmouth

Old Ben is back with the ChatGPT everyone!

  9. To be fair, I think Barkhuizen could play up front. He’s intelligent enough to work the role, and does pretty well in tight spaces. Think he’d do reasonably ok linking up with someone who’s got a bit more strength and can hold the ball up for him.

Mendez-Laing, however, is completely negated up front. His strengths lie in using his pace and power to drive past the opposition. He doesn’t have the space to operate effectively if he’s through the middle.

And therein lies one of my worries. Our current squad does not suit 3-5-2, and would take a lot of surgery to adjust - which does not appear to be our plan in the transfer market. I hope Warne doesn’t try to force the team into his favoured formation when it’s not capable of it.
