  1. When everyone is fit, we're very nearly there. I'd still like a top-notch striker to play with Waggy and maybe a pacey CB. I would have said we needed a starting 8 or a 10, but Thommo looks like he's ready to be our star there and I don't really want us to block his development.

Vaulks/Emberton in as options in the middle to allow us to rest Hourihane when his legs fall off at 60 mins sounds likely and would be welcome.

I'm a bit worried about Elder. I know he's recovering from injury, but he looks so slow and unfit when he's come on. Hopefully he manages to find his fitness because he was the signing I was most excited for. Maybe we bring in Fosu as cover.

I wouldn't be too shocked to see Barkhuizen go (not itk, just a feeling) and if the money is right for Cashin then we have to go for it (and most importantly either loan him back or replace him asap).

  2. Would be a hell of a pick up, I hadn't realised he'd lost his place at the Wendies. He's the sort of player that would give us the option to rest Hourihane or Smith and freshen up the midfield. Forgot age, he'd be a great pick up.

  3. My ideal deadline day involves Collins leaving. I'm not even that fussed about replacing him, I just don't want to see him in our shirt again. I'd rather see us give Connor Sammon a year than continue watching Collo half-arse his way through games. If only his legs were are mobile as the elbows he throws.

Can't remember him ever finishing with such quality when he was here 1st time round.

His confidence is flowing and you can really see it in his finishing. It's all instinctive. He's got that incredible strikers knack of just being in the right spot (scoring from Washington's shot the other week, and again today from NML) and everything is just clicking in to place for him.

You can see the lads love him too, and he's like a second captain in the way he interacts with the players. I was happy he signed just for player morale, but he's been pure class on the pitch too.

  5. I stand by saying that he's got a higher skill ceiling than Bird, and the last couple of games he's started to show it too. So happy for the lad. Skill, vision, an endless work ethic and even has end product. If he keeps this up, it could be the start of a real break-out season.

  6. Thommo was immense and (along with Waggy) is the difference maker in this team. Energy, composure, skill AND end product!

Shout outs to Nelson, Washington and Fozzy too. This is one of the best attacks we'll come up against this season, and even though there were wobbles, we largely defended well.

This was Warneball at its peak; an out press, out run, counter-fest where we'll score more than you. Oh, and the build-up to the corner Cash scored from was glorious too.

  7. Either they have to cave and agree to the loan, or they have to pay comfortably over the odds so we can afford two knew CB's. I can't see this sorted before deadline because Brighton can afford to delay and test our nerve, and we can't afford to sell him without a replacement coming in. But £3m for a league one defender in the last year if his contract is good money, however much I want us to keep him.

    Surely he is Smith's replacement

Unless I'm completely missing the point, there's been no reported interest in Smith but we were (allegedly) touting Bird around for sale pre-injury. Hence replacing Bird, when he's sold off to fund Warnes revamp.

Really? I rather doubt many on here have ever seen him play? What’s your experience of Fornah based on?

Saw a fair bit of him for Reading last year, and at Plymouth a couple of years back. He's not a game changer, but he's relatively quick and covers well, giving the defence a bit of a breather.

Ideal world, it'd be Fornah and Bird playing deeper and Hourihane getting up to support the strikers. His defensive reading and positioning will allow Bird to be a bit more forward thinking. Likelihood is that he'll be Birds replacement though.
