Turn things around performance wise Tyler.

PW said when he first arrived that he likes to play entertaining football, that’s what supporters pay their money for.

We’ve seen very little entertainment this season so I think supporters who question things have every right to. The cost to go to watch games isn’t cheap.

Just to let you know those lads who the Club seem to love videoing were standing in front of our disabled supporters all game, preventing them from seeing or enjoying any part of the game.

At the risk of being labelled a party-pooper, it’s fair to say Blackpool were pretty dreadful. They left Derby room to play.
However, play they did. So frustrating that we have the ability to play a slick passing game, but so often get caught up in safety first mode.
Get the footballers in, let them pass, and we will fly up this league.

Well someone earlier in the thread said the team selection was laughable. It might have been if it wasn’t for being a severe outbreak of football!
isn’t it great that I can put “football” and not confuse it with “hoofball”. And although we were happy to play the ball long quite a lot, it was as a part of a superb away performance. And it has to be MOM for Corey Smith because that was his best performance in a Derby shirt.
I only saw the second half because of family business, but was sure that I was watching Blackpool TV because we missed a lot of Rams action watching endless replays of Blackpool half chances, and the volume was pretty low. But it was a pretty good watch all the same!

The great Brian Clough said “sort the defence out and the rest will follow”. Did we just see some following in action?

On Saturday the booing co-incieded with the match officials walking off the pitch, and stopped as soon as they were out of sight. Maybe Warne knows he has some disgruntled fans because of what he was getting the team to play like.

We still know little as yet about David Clowes decision making, but even a Warne botherer like me can see his reasons for going for him. He did have a CV with evidence to support he could get out of this league, and by all accounts he is a good ‘club man’. I recall Clowes put a lot of emphasis on researching him and admiring his man management skills, and whilst I would have kept Rosenior, again there was logic for sweeping the decks completely clean, and bringing in a new person to lift the general mood. Not sure that all merited a 4 year contract, but perhaps there are performance benchmark clauses in there covering years 3 and 4? Anyway, the point I am making is we might know more about Clowes decision making in the months ahead. I think his breath will already be on Warne’s back, because as a owner and a fan he will know there is not a good feel out there at the moment. Warne needs to start getting some results that’s the bottom line. He has in my opinion a squad that should finish in the top two this season. He needs to stop talking the talk, and provide evidence of his walking the walk.

Everybody has an opinion obviously but this squad should be playing better. We havent played well at home in ages....probably Morecambe last season. We have had injuries this season i know but that is only glossing over stuff. I was alarmed how Warne's subtitutions on Saturday actually made Cambridge a threat!! I also feel Warne will eventually go wing backs. Ward will be back soon so wheres he gonna play? Wilson? He will look to play Nyambe in a 3. I can see it now. This squad is good enough for Top 2. I have no doubts on that but they aint playing like a Top 2 side and thats down to Warne.

Waghorn looked off the pace on Saturday because he was played in the wrong role and out of position. I am surprised that we haven’t seen Wildsmith as a centre forward yet. He’s tall and can jump a bit, so why not?

There is hope lying ahead of us. A Cambridge fan got talking to me as I walked to the car and he was happy with the result. He admitted both teams were a bit soft up front, but reckoned that they had created a couple of really good chances in the first half. Hopefully I disguised my shock/guffawing at hum, because all the did first half was hit two long hopeful balls which went out for goal kicks before their guy could get near it!
If that is “really good chances” then we have got a good chance of scoring more goals than Cambridge before the season is out!

Not puzzling at all - its what Warne does. If he can’t start the team up at the start with 3 or 5 at the back, he will flip to that option later on in the game, especially if we are ahead in the game, or like yesterday after we had stormed our way to nil nil!

The chances we did or didn’t create were on the players individually rather than a systematic error - in my opinion. I would guess that we had more final third entries in the game against Cambridge than we have in any other game this season and quite significantly more.
We worked the ball into crossing opportunities brilliantly but it just didn’t seem to do much with them, that’s on the players decision making and the movement of the strikers. On another day, we win the game comfortably, but it was just one of those days. For me, it was just good to see us dominate a game, regardless of the result.

Have you ever thought that might be because Waghorn and Sibley never get to take set pieces in a match situation? They are long out of practice.
Sibley has reliably taken excellent set pieces for Derby since junior level.
But his touch is sadly absent with no pre-season and very few match minutes so far this season. He'll be discarded again well before he gets time to build up match fitness. Get yourself a Club who loves you, Louie, look what it's done for Morgan Whittaker!
Waghorn is better with central set pieces but I remember him taking them all for Ipswich back in the day and looking lethal. Is it age or lack of practice that has caught up with him?

Pail Warne’s observation that when we tried playing through the middle the passes got blocked misses the fact that he had the wrong player in the key position. He put Waghorn in the number 10 role, and the lad looked lost. He should be up front, although he is happy playing out wide. This is quite ripe for another pro-Sibley comment, so here it is. He was sat on the bench yet again. Warne acknowledges that Sibbers is the best finisher at the club, so when we are struggling to score, why put him on the bench? His best position is at number 10, but when he finally gets on, 65 minutes too late, it is stuck out wide, where Waggy prefers to be! What if Warne had played a number 10 in the number 10 role, instead of giving the job to a player whose only link to the role is having a number 10 on his back?
