    Great news!
hopefully this progress carries on at the same pace and it’s all completed on schedule. I’m also hoping that Curtis will stay and is given the armband.
Time to get those players in!

    What the actual ****!
Hes done a Frank and left us in the lurch, is it because CK hasn’t taken over?
Thanks for what he did but this leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Im assuming at this late stage that Rosenier will take the helm.

Does anyone have the clear and obvious answer at the moment?
The takeover hasn’t been completed yet and we don’t know what kind of vision Clowes has for the club or who he will bring in to work on footballing matters.
I am just excited, personally. I think we would have struggled horribly with Rooney in League 1. For me, some fans built him up too much and placed far too much importance on him, sometimes the identity of the club was lost.
The reality is that Rooney does what’s best for him and it’s not at all surprising to see him walk away. It’s good because we don’t want someone whose heart isn’t in it and doesn’t want to be here.
For me, the biggest news today is that we will still have a club to support. Managers come and go and but the key is there will be life after Rooney.
I think we have many options and there’s an intrigue about us now that there wasn’t before and someone can come in without being haunted by the past 24 months and carrying those scars.

4 or 5 years ago maybe. His best years are perhaps behind him.

Happy to talk football  I understand enough to recognise that despite his considerable strengths in recruiting and motivating players, WR is - at this early stage in his career - in that category of managers who do not make effective decisions "in play". (Our national team suffers the same handicap, so we will need luck to go all the way in the world cup.)  I also think WR's team selection last season became increasingly questionable. You will consider it a foolish statement, and I've not said it before, but I think that any strong championship manager would have had us very close to survival, if not staying up, last season, particularly if Steadman could prove an adequate replacement for Jags (who incidentally ate very little cake over lockdown). The fundamental problem with last season was that WR decided on a style of play (time will tell, he may only have one) and forced it on a thin squad that did not have the wherewithal to make it consistently successful. I still watch Ravel's great team goal with elation though - and with sadness because of the shades of Wenger (someone I admire) and his commitment to a failing style of football.
Rooney was a mixed blessing old friend. His PR team reflects his net worth, but for him we were as a snail is to garlic - a vehicle. Those who say he will walk into his next job may be right - but if you listen between the lines to the pundits you discover his competence as a manager is far from accepted, inside football. My money would be on Lampard and Gerrard to have much longer and more successful managerial careers that WR. I'd guess Stretford understands that, which is why the Kirchner project (Preston first, by the way) made so much sense to him.
You don't respond substantively to my posts, but you have several times called my loyalty as a fan into question. You'll know from the match day threads that whether or not I am using my season tickets (they are always used), I watch every game. We all have different lives and circumstances.
I look forward to your customary abuse in return - it's ironic that you are so critical of social media

I’m actually getting a wee bit excited about all this.

Yes, team on the brink, Manager leaving so close to pre-season, and all that.

But Derby County will be playing football with a new chairman, boss, and a trimmed down squad. All without much expectation. They all just get to build, take chances with players/tactics, and let the team grow organically.
That is something I’ve been wanting for a few years now. The team turnover of managers and bloated team sheets have been such a headache for a few years.
It will be nice to just have a humble team left alone to grow and become successful again. ?‍♂️

And he probably will get interviewed for it - he'd arguably be the easiest appointment to make, and I wouldn't be surprised if they make it.
I just personally think we'd be best to leave all facets of the trauma of the last two years behind us. Rooney, Rosenior, Tom Lawrence, they can all go for me.
Give a new owner his choice of new manager and let that new manager build a whole new squad.

Well and truly left us up s*** creek with no paddle hasn’t he?
Its obvious to me that he would stay only if his two mates could have plumb jobs.  Last night’s development must have been a shock, and maybe a convo with Mr Clowes has confirmed the company structure.
I mean, it can’t be the budget as he would have known it would be tiny due to the terms of exiting Admin.
Im so disappointed in him as I’ve been asked numerous times if I think he’ll stay and I did get some funny looks when I said confidently he would as he does seem to have a connection with the club.
How wrong I was, I wonder if 32Red’s sponsorship has been pulled?

And for everyone who is understandably wary of the situation following what happened with MM, I’m taking confidence from the fact lessons will be learnt from that debacle. Clowes is a fan so has watched it unfold like the rest of us, if he’s the one taking us over he will have a good idea how not to do things on the back of Mel’s tenure.

    Absolutely spot on.
It's worth bearing in mind that perhaps David Clowes never intended to own DCFC, but has been moved to step in after the collapse of other bids, the non-appearance of meaningful bids from other PR-hungry interested parties and the very real prospect of liquidation. Whatever, if he's seriously close to having a bid accepted that is acceptable to the preferential creditors, the EFL and that will also reunite the stadium with the club, what more could any of us want at this point?

David Clowes is a Derby fan, a business man and has funds, surely we couldn’t ask for anyone better, as a fan he is going to have the best interests of the club at heart.
Fingers crossed for him, the club and us.

I can understand Bielik pushing for a move because of what the Polish Coach said, you can’t pass up the opportunity to play in a World Cup.
If Buchanan and Byrne want to leave, let them go and try to receive some money for them. We need 100% commitment from whoever takes to the pitch next season as it is going to be another struggle.
