Yeah a definite disadvantage for youth. But in a weird way perhaps an advantage for the older players. Means you can't offer them silly length deals and get stuck with them in a few years. But a 2 year deal at a slightly smaller wage, than an offer of a 1 year deal at a bigger wage in the Championship, might just have tipped the likes of Hourihane, McGoldrick etc.
Who knows! As a Derby resident, I'd find this season a very interesting one to get to a few games to see the evolution.
Just a shame we're in the same league!

£400K is more than I thought - was that upfront or the 'headline' figure if all add-ons were triggered? Either way, I can see why you said we got the best of the deal. I think most of us thought he'd do well for you. It won't be any consolation, but I wish we'd 'only' wasted £400K on a few of our players during the Morris era!
It's a fair point also about LR and expectations : most of us, I think, are realistic, but we know there is a an impatient element who judge everything on results - the same people, probably, who think Rooney should have done better with the resources at his disposal. Most of us know that we'll find a league with many clubs who have relatively settled line-ups, and who will regard us as a 'scalp' in the same way that Wednesday, Ipswich, Portsmouth and probably any of the yo-yo clubs are. There'll be a period of familiarisation and adjustment. Most of the players who've been signed or are possibly about to be signed have experience of L1, though perhaps not recently. In truth, I think the club would have signed more L1/2 players if they'd been available FoC, but because of the delay in a takeover being concluded, we're playing catch up with what's available, and many clubs are weeks ahead of us in preparation and squad strengthening. We've gone for the best we can get in the short-term and there's no guarantee it will bring success, but it has at least brought some excitement and anticipation after a truly dreadful 3 years of embargos, legal cases and threats of liquidation.

Feel a bit sorry for Rosenior, this squad being assembled should absolutely walk the league. 5 or 6 of these players weekly wage will total up to bigger than some clubs full squad weekly wage in the league. Any thing less than a promotion push leaves him in a sticky situation.
Can apply the same to Ipswich, Sheff Weds and Barnsley.
This league is nuts this year, probably around 15-18 sides who think they have a realistic chance of mounting a top 6 push.

Fleetwood, Gillingham, Hull, Oldham, Reading, Scunthorpe, Swindon as well as Derby had to operate various forms of embargo for different periods last season.
As for the coming season, a squad cap of 22 outfield players (over 21) applies in League One.
U21s and goalkeepers do not count.
A minimum of 8 have to be "home-grown" i.e. been registered with any club affiliated to The FA or the FAW for a period, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).
The classification for Under 21 players is born on or after 1 January 2001.

So sorry to hear about your loss.
This post doesn't half sum up how important football clubs are to the cities and towns of this country, the local and regional communities that invest their hard earned cash for what in the main is the very odd moment of celebration.
People who don't like football will never be able to understand the emotion that is wrapped up within the love of a football club and it is so much more than a game. It is a way of life, a chance to move focus from the grinds of daily life, a chance to spend time with family and friends cheering on your team. To have that close to being taken away is really tough, and I've experienced that a couple of times with OUFC.
And yes, football will kick you in the b@lls more often than not, but it is all so worth it for those stoppage time winners, those local derby 3 points and the moments you can share with 1000s of your fellow supporters.

Pleased for you as a fanbase - you've had to suffer enough!
Also on a personal (selfish) note as it means the city I live in continues to have an EFL football club, and a big one at that. I've enjoyed some fantastic days at Pride Park since I've lived here.
Not so pleased that it sounds like you might be in a position to sign on players much quicker than it was looking like!
I suppose if you beat us on opening day, the banter from the in-laws and friends will be over nice and early!
