A genuine question from a complete seafood amateur: how do you actually go about eating that?

Could be why we’re signing Ashley Cole, bring him in as a translator.
Reason he hasn’t played much is Frank doesn’t understand a word he says either.
Ashley’s time with Cheryl means he will understand the Geordie lingo.
I fully expect Waghorn to feature more if Cole does arrive.

In his prime he was the best left back in the world. One of my favourite players to wear an England shirt from recent time.
Granted we're gonna get a much  older version but I'll give you some perspective...
We signed a 34 year old Lee Naylor who had his contract cancelled by Accy Stanley four years ago.
Got to love the Frank Lampard effect! Never would I have ever thought we'd have any connection playing/coaching to Ashley Cole!

He’s a short term solution for our LB back up that’s been forced by injury, so I think he’s fine.
I think chucking Max Lowe right back into the middle of a championship play-off race when he’s been progressing so well and having a good time at Aberdeen might have ended up being counter-productive. Might not have even played regularly if Malone stays fit.
With Davies out, Pearce gone and no guarantee we’ll get an experienced CB in this window, this is probably one of the times where signing an experienced player is worth it. Will help out the young defence too.
As much as I love the idea of having two Academy players starting as our full backs, we may have to wait for next season.

I like hearing about Lowe’s progress from @Inverurie Ram.
An added bonus is that it distracts him from posting ridiculous song ideas and a music video for every situation😂

When your manager is only 2 years older than your left back, Rowett would have been crucified if this was him! 😂
As others have said though, sounds like more of a short term back up IF true, let Lowe go back up to Aberdeen and get some games. Added experience in the dressing room is never a bad thing, not when it’s a player with a bigger personal trophy cabinet than the club itself.
Arm around the likes of Tomori and Bogle when the pressure is on and let’s be honest, Cole probably dreamt to see out his career at Derby from the day he first stepped on to a football pitch.
The big downside to all this is the Lowe Aberdeen thread being resurrected by @Inverurie Ram, every single picture ever to be taken of him in a Aberdeen shirt, any newspaper column that prints his name will be posted in bulk for the next 6 months. Won’t feel like he’s even left us, I’m about to see Max Lowe’s face more than my own missus. 🤣

So Nixon is saying that Max Lowe will return to Aberdeen and that Ashley Cole will come in.
On a 6-month deal I’d take that. Cole adds experience and Lowe gets more game time without being wasted on the bench, or not even in the squad if Malone plays.

For raw ability, Tomori has it all. He is so far ahead of the likes of Michael Keane when we had him here. He needs coaching, massively, because at the moment he'll be excellent for 85 minutes but have moments of madness in him.
He's got loads of potential, certainly, so if we can sign him permanently then we should.

I agree, but I bolded the part I find important. I don't think Davies would be as good under Lampard's style of play, because we prefer to play a higher line and need a lot of passing from the centre halves. Davies is both slower and worse at distribution than Tomori is.

My wife confirms he looks like he would be very commanding in the box.

I think the problem with some of the comments in this thread and those calling out individual defenders, is that we don't recognise that this is a situation we have deliberately accepted in order to play the type of attacking football that we do.
Our defence will be vulnerable at times because of the type of football we play rather than because of the frailties of individual defenders.
I found it interesting that Tomori had a really good game last night because we were playing a team that also wanted to play football.  Yes, he is young and will make mistakes, but he will continue to try to play the way we're set up.
That this might be a weakness against the Championship teams who go direct and have big men in the box to lump it up to is a fair point. So far, Lampard hasn't compromised his principles to address this (even when he had the players available to change the style, which he doesn’t at the moment). Will he do so in future if this proves to be our Achilles heel this season?
I don't know. I'm on his side at the minute because our defence is 'good enough' and I love to see Bogle, Keogh, Tomori and Malone playing out from the back.
I agree with @therealhantsram that the midfield is the place I would be looking to strengthen.

I like Tomori but playing Davies alongside Keogh is far more beneficial for Keogh's game, or at least it was under Rowett's tactics. Davies was immense last season and he brought out the best in Keogh.

I cannot believe that after fans have been moaning on and on for months about the lack of atmosphere, as soon as a group come along to try and change things, they get shot down like this.
    Forget self-policing, we’re self-assassinating.
I think it sounds good if you can pull it off. I particularly like the plans you have for away days.
