One of the most annoying things here is that Ashley will swoop in, get a deal done in about 2 days and it will become apparent that he could have done that at literally any point in the last 12 months

So for this to collapse it will have taken the EFL and Quantuma to both completely fail to perform any remotely adequate due diligence, right? Quantuma shouldn't be allowed anywhere near another football club.

Even allowing for all the anti money laundering checks that need to be completed, a transfer of funds from the US to the UK shouldn’t take more than 3 or 4 days tops to arrive as cleared funds. Even transfers from/to countries with “less sophisticated” banking systems wouldn’t take much more than a week.

It's quite possible Rooney expects it back from CK, if it was in fact him that sorted it. Rooney and CK have had a fair bit of dialogue so it's not entirely impossible he was asked to cover it and get the money back when everything clears.

This is a factor in my mind as well. Dawes is hardly a high-level investigative journalist, he is a local radio broadcaster with an emotional investment in the topic he is employed to discuss. Not to mention the fact that he has dropped a 'story' like this before and then had to retract it all pretty soon after.
We currently have two narratives and nobody on this forum knows which one is correct.

We've just got to listen to the three or four village idiots they have got lined up to comment on Southgate, 34 adverts for vans and/or tools and then we will get to the CK interview.

Problem is I don't trust that Dawes has the wherewithal for those sources not to be people with a vested interest in telling him its all going to pot, with their own agendas he doesn't or or can't recognise.
I always think back to his interview with the Wycombe chairman where he got walked all over and ended up tickling the guy's balls.

The bid needs to be CK because otherwise we kiss goodbye to Rooney staying, most of the current squad staying, starting the season on 0 points and any remote chance of getting out of L1 in a reasonable time frame.

Rooney will walk if this collapses. We will lose out out multiple transfer targets and and a lot more players will end up leaving the club.
