I love the way it dawns on everyone that they should perhaps start backing up a bit

Finished Deutschland 89 last night - without spoilers for anyone, I thought the ending was very well done and packed a real emotional punch. Really enjoyed this last series much more than 86

Despite reports last week that over 40's would now be delayed getting the first vaccine shot until May, I've just had the text from the nhs and my jab is booked for next week.
Happy with that & hopefully it means the squeeze on supplies might not be as bad as thought. Just don't tell the EU.

There's been a lot of press the last couple days for this Mars city design (NuWa) by a Spanish firm of architects:
There's a slightly more detailed video at https://www.euronews.com/living/2021/03/19/plans-for-the-first-sustainable-city-on-mars-unveiled

There seems to be a fair degree of happiness/smugness that the UK is doing better on vaccines than the big countries in Europe, and politicians like Macron somehow deserve it.
Might be worth remembering that these countries are our closest partners and friends. Don't buy into the jingoism that we are better and not to trust them. Don't follow the desperate tabloid agendas.
Can't everyone just be happy that we are getting loads of people vaccinated without having to take pleasure in the suffering of others? Just imagine that the French Grandma of that colleague dies before she can get the vaccine? Not so funny then.
It's like the tabloid attitude when we have a heatwave. Find a few "hot" places like Greece, Barbados, Sydney etc and brag about how the UK is hotter than these losers.

Got the AZ vaccine today at the Arena.
Hats off to the volunteers who make it such an easy process. ?
Must admit, it felt a bit emotional going in and coming out.

As Sith says, I reckon the response would be different depending in the age group you.
Working from home cuts down a lot of wasted time - I'm willing to bet half a day for the average person over a week?
20% more pay for me, although I'd probably opt for a day less work instead in about 10 years time.

My wife works at a local university and she says that some students from Kent got abused  at the weekend by a baying mob of angry East Midlands-born students, all shouting "get lost you stupid posh-sounding gits with no proper football clubs, coming over here spreading yours stupid Kent variant..la-di-da back off to Canterbury"

    *one for @i-Ram there ?

I found this interesting, about how & why people get different side-effects from the jab:

From what I've read though its the Kent variant that's running rife in Europe with some South African. Also its thought that whilst the current vaccines are possibly less effective against the South African and Brazilian, they still provide some protection. I think that in UK we can be reasonably confident that a 4th wave based on new variants can be held at bay or largely mitigated until we get amended vaccines for booster shots in the Autumn. I'm not so confident about the EU zone though, it looks really dicey. Figures in France for example are going up alarmingly and the Germans are following not far behind

Almost 6 hours in, for me.  Not a hint of anything as yet.  Fingers firmly crossed for a side-effect-free weekend.  ?

For reference, Muckerette was tired with a mild headache the following day.  An afternoon nap put paid to that.  No achy arm.
    Best o' luck, buddy.  ?

The rewatch of 86 was still a bit of a slog, the second half of the season is much better than I remember though. A few eps into 89 now and really enjoying it.

I once had a DVT after drunkenly jumping into a swimming pool in Mexico and twatting my shin on a hidden step. Flew long haul back the next day and my leg swelled up.
On that basis I'm never going to Mexico again

I've seen some people suggest that it's part of the big pharma wars. AZ rollouts are way ahead of the others
Not saying its true, but I did ponder back in January as to how nicely all these "evil" big pharma companies seemed to be playing!

Yeah - and that's how it should be.
The problem comes when it's involuntarily foisted onto you by the media (and by others on social media) - and then invited to express your opinion on it. Most people seem incapable of resisting that invitation, and so it snowballs
I don't find her especially funny either - and let's remember that she was subject to the same attempt at cancellation over the battery acid joke in 2019
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-49508231
Her career was so ruined that she..erm checks notes...has appeared on TV frequently and was one of the headline comperes on the BBC Funny Festival last week
Which illustrates the point that the whole "cancel culture" thing is yet one more thing that doesn't actually exist oustide of the media's culture war baiting business model
